Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 9 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 9. A change is as good as a rest, so they say. Well sadly for you, you got the rest from me rather than a change. I am back. Around the Grounds is back. Your weekly preview full of waffle, useless stats and lies and deceptions aplenty from the managers returns to confuse you just as you were on the point of deciding this week’s transfer. Our game-week kicks off Saturday lunchtime as in form Bournemouth host unbeaten Spurs. Six 3pm matches follow – Arsenal attempt to continue their form as they welcome Boro, Everton travel to Burnley, Hull and Stoke face each other, champions Leicester take on the Palace of the Lord, Watford go to Wales and West Ham host Sunderland. Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 4

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 4 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 4. Urgh those distasteful international breaks. Well this one is over and we have four weeks of FPL to enjoy before the next one, so out with the old, in with the new, let’s get it on. And get it on we will with a monster game-week which starts off with the biggest game of the season so far – the Manc derby at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime. If that wasn’t enough then we have no less than six 3pm matches to really get our teeth into. Arsenal and West Ham are both at home in the capital as they host Southampton and Watford respectively – West Brom have an away day down the beach at Bournemouth, Burnley welcome Hull, Boro take on Palace and Spurs take the journey to S...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 6

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Gameweek 6 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 6. How divisive our beloved FPL can be – those who had Lukaku, Sterling, KdB, Antonio, Chadli, Alexis and played Capoue had it off last week, while those who persisted with the likes of Hazard, Firmino, Silva, Barkley, Ozil and capo’d Ibra were left disappointed and saw their rank plummet alarmingly. The latter situation has led to many a wildcard being played this week as thousands chase the points they missed out on last week and abandon those players they considered a “must-have” just a week or so ago. We have a more traditional game-week this week, no Friday night madness equals no early deadline, so relax, chat away as you consider your transfers or last-minute cha...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 3

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 3 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 3. No Friday night matches this week I’m afraid – no Monday match either, just the standard two-day working week – now you know how the average Frenchman feels. Our game-week begins Saturday lunchtime at the Lane, with Kane vs Mane and ends at the Etihad as Gold’s Hammers take on Silva’s City. In between there is plenty to get our teeth into with Christian Benteke beginning life at Palace and Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Williams hoping to start for Everton. Zlatan will look to continue to please his owners as United face fellow table toppers Hull. Don’t forget there is an international break between GW3 & 4. Now the managers have started the season a tad...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 2

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 2 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 2. And if GW1 left you feeling a little flat or underwhelmed then it is time my friends to strike back on the casual FPL managers who may not be aware that we have an early deadline this week. So be aware and be ready – the deadline is Friday, yes Friday, as in today at 7.00pm UK time. What a shock the unsuspecting casual will have as they wake up tomorrow morning to find their team already locked in for the week! It’s Man Utd vs Southampton which provides the Friday fun as Zlatan and Jose make their home league debuts for United. Seven matches follow on Saturday, before our week is wrapped up on Sunday with the final two matches. So however your GW1 ended up, let’s go Aroun...[Read More]

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 1

Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 1 Welcome to Around the Grounds FPL Team News Game-week 1. Well I hope you’ve enjoyed your summer – whether you’ve been playing MLS and the Euros or decided to take a well-earned rest, the time has arrived for us all to come back together, dust off the cobwebs and get back down to it. Your peace has been blown out of the water and we’re back to trying to determine what exactly the managers are trying to tell us in their pressers! It’s an exciting time though as we welcome Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola, Claude Puel, Aitor Karanka and Walter Mazzarri into the Premier League, Sean Dyche makes a welcome return, Ronald Koeman has swapped Southampton for Everton and Jose Mourinho has stopped claiming unemployment benefit by ...[Read More]

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 38

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 38 So here we are at the end of the road. It’s been long, it’s been great and frustrating, yet it’s always been fun. And a rest is never a bad thing, especially when you know that we get to do it all over again in three months time. Yep, there is always the chance to go better next season, to act on the lessons we have learnt from this campaign – but of course much of the excitement is the unexpected. Who will be next season’s surprise package? Can Leicester go all “dilly ding, dilly dong” again, or will they be hamstrung by their Champions League campaign plus the pressure of having to defend their trophy? Will we see a resurgence from Chelsea? Can United get past the halfway line in less than 47 passes? WeR...[Read More]

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 37

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 37 And there were two. Yep, just two game-weeks remain but fear not this one is another biggie. Yeah baby, I give you DGW37 – 14 fixtures, eight teams doubling up, points galore on offer to either close out or chase down your mini-league. Our monster week starts, aptly enough, in Norfolk as Norwich host Man Utd on Saturday lunchtime and then we move onto five 3pm kick offs as Newcastle look to take a further step to safety as they go to the doomed Villa, Bournemouth welcome West Brom, Palace entertain Stoke, Chelsea go to Sunderland and Swansea travel to West Ham. The evening match sees champions Leicester celebrate at home with Everton the visitors. Sunday sees part one of our game-week concluded as Spurs host Southampton, Watford go to Liverpool...[Read More]

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 36

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 36 So, just three game-weeks to go before our summer holidays, although watching some of the Premier League teams you could be mistaken for thinking they have beaten you to the beach. But for us we need to finish the season well, chase down or see home our mini-leagues and ensure that this season doesn’t go down as our worst ever! There is no early match this week, but we do at least have a full compliment of fixtures, so no excuses for not fielding a full team this week. Five 3pm matches kick us off as Everton host Bournemouth, Newcastle aim for a much-needed win at home to Palace, Sunderland do likewise at Stoke, relegated Villa go to Watford and it’s “Go West” as Bromwich face Ham. The early evening should treat us well as Ars...[Read More]

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 35

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 35 Welcome to game-week 35 and the quote “After every storm, there is a rainbow. If you have eyes, you will find it. If you have wisdom, you will create it” springs to mind. Whereas we had 15 fixtures spread over six consecutive days in DGW34, GW35 brings us just the seven matches, due to the FA Cup semi-finals. That’s not to say that there isn’t important points to be won, just don’t expect the bonanza that was generally seen last week. Bench Boosts are unlikely to be used this week, though the Triple Captain maybe an option for some who still retain it, looking at the fixtures for the likes of Kane, Sturridge and of course Aguero. Speaking of Aguero, it is he and City that kick off our gameweek Saturday lunchtime as they host S...[Read More]

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 34

Team Talk Fantasy Football Game-week 34 Here it is, the one we’ve all been waiting for – the six day, 15 fixture, DGW34! Whether you cracked it last week or were one of the many to look back and regret a few moves, forget it, it’s over – look forward not back, for it is time to smash the record books and go large. There will of course be highs and lows throughout the game-week as rankings soar then plunge then hopefully soar again. Will that Bench Boost be worth it? Will your Triple Captain go FPL radio rental? How much will you regret using that chip in October? As we found out last week, only time will tell. Our game-week kicks off as Norwich host Sunderland on Saturday lunchtime and that is just the start…fourteen fixtures follow, with matches every day unt...[Read More]
