MLS GW22 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW22 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This weeks deadline is Wed 3rd August 7PM EDT. That’s American time – add 5 hours here in the UK to make it Thursday at midnight Any week that follows Frank Lampard being the highest fantasy scorer in the game is going to be a bit of a letdown. I mean honestly, how can this week even come close to stacking up to the previous round? It can’t and it won’t. So we just have go on knowing that the Frank Lampard hat-trick was probably the most unexpected high point of the season. In other news, the site team for FF247 moved up to 3rd place in the overall rankings for the game. I’d like to think that these articles that I write contribute to that score, but I know better. Mito uses a bit of black magic and luck and continually puts up ...Read More

MLS GW21 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This weeks deadline is Sat 30th July 3PM EDT. That’s American time – add 5 hours here in the UK to make it Sat at 8PM The MLS isn’t in the habit of making their scheduling coincide with perfectly timed fantasy articles – and that’s kind of the situation we have on our hands again this week. Full disclosure: this article is being written prior to the MLS All Star game vs. Arsenal. Now, we could’ve waited until after the AS game to check on injuries and any players that played heavy minutes, but that would’ve meant having this article posted for a single day before the round locked. There’s no perfect solution, so we’ll just get this out there, and then the burden of being in the know about injuries from the AS game falls to...Read More

MLS GW20 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW20 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This weeks deadline is Fri 22nd July 11.00PM EDT. That’s American time – add 5 hours here in the UK to make it Sat at 4.00AM Well, it’s finally happened. The FPL game has opened up and you can already feel the apathy towards the MLS game gaining momentum. I get it, no judgements here. Who doesn’t want to finally get their hands on a shiny new FPL squad? Who doesn’t want to try to balance Aguero’s salary against a budget defense? Which of you can’t wait to prove your genius by getting that newly transferred player that’s actually going to produce in GW1? I count myself with all of you. But we do have this MLS game to see out. If you’ve made it this far into the year, what’s another 14 rounds? With that being said, the MLS game di...Read More

MLS GW17 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW17 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This weeks deadline is Sat 9th July at 1am GMT. (So Friday night going into Saturday morning basically for our UK users) As of the writing of this article, the New England v. NYC game has yet to go off to close out the previous round. But does it really matter at this point? Chances are that somebody you need from the last game of Round 16 may get benched or play limited minutes anyway, so I won’t get my hopes up (or put off writing the article any longer than I have to). And, while we’re on the subject of chances, it’s highly doubtful that you took a chance on several of the players currently on the Dream Team. In all of our preparations for the DGW and for the byes, the MLS slapped us once more in the face with players scoring big points ...Read More

MLS GW16 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW16 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This weeks deadline is Sat 2nd July at 1am GMT. (So Friday night basically!) Before we get into this week’s MLS issues, let’s take a brief look back at some of the craziness that happened to us during DGW15. First of all, we had four teams on a double (LA, NYRB, PHI, RSL), and we thought very highly of the prospects for those four teams. But when you look at the Dream Team for the week, you’ll see that only three DGW players actually made the list. The only LA player on the list is their goalkeeper. The only NYRB player on the list is Gideon Baah, a defender who has played a total of 447 minutes this year for his team. Oh, and the only Philly representative on the list is some dude named Roland Alberg. And this Alberg scored four goals duri...Read More

MLS GW15 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW15 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer This week gets back to ‘normal’ in a sense. We have four DGW teams to choose from and the week starts on Wednesday (7pm ET). Enjoy this week while you can. We have a couple of DGW selections next week – and then we have to try to play the standard game for a while without a boost of double-match action. And if this last round is any indication of the types of scores we might be seeing going forward, it’s a bit worrying. #1) Know your DGW teams This week we get (what we thought were) some good teams to choose from for our DGW rosters. LA, NYRB, Philly and RSL are all playing twice. Philly and New York are 1 and 2 in the Eastern Conference, and RSL and LA are both in the playoff spots in the West. So it’s good to remember that you’re no...Read More

MLS GW13 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW13 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Let’s be honest here, this article doesn’t need to be very long because there isn’t a whole lot that needs to be said about this GW in FMLS. For starters, if you love to watch football, why wouldn’t you be watching the international friendlies that are going off on Wednesday instead of a few MLS games? Spain kicks off the day, Poland v Netherlands and a Belgium match will round out the middle of the schedule, and then the night will be capped off with Mexico v Chile? C’mon. It’s not even a question for even casual fans. And then you have to take into account that the MLS is giving 8 teams a bye for the round. Somehow, 8 teams were afforded a bye week…but 12 teams have to make a push to get some points. Does it make sense? Of course no...Read More

MLS GW12 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW12 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer If you were one of those few people out there who absolutely knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that NYRB were going to have one of the most explosive weeks, then you should probably just hang it up now and move on. It won’t get any better than that. They had two shutouts and took the NY Derby to the tune of 7-0. I think we’re all a bit baffled by how good they really were. And as proof, they have 7 members of their squad in the week’s Dream Team. As for the other three teams on a double? Only Will Johnson from Toronto is represented (no way you saw that coming). And the other 3 slots on the Dream Team went to single-game players. Was GW11 a disappointing round then? Yes and no. The math of the DGW situation held true – 8 of 11 players...Read More

MLS DGW11 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS DGW11 – Tips Fantasy Major League Soccer Here we are again, another round of Fantasy MLS to consider. And really, until the Euros start for you all, what else are you going to do with your summer until FPL starts back up? You may as well play FMLS to pass the time. What I can’t figure out is why any of you would take my advice after last week’s showing on my part. In all honesty, I flubbed last round’s double selections in the worst way possible. Turns out Jermaine Jones isn’t the preferred captain of choice when you have players like Diaz playing twice at home. Oh well. What can you do? But here’s the thing – any fantasy advice article can be solid gold. If you get onto an article writer that’s really on his game, you can ride his picks to victory. But if you’re savvy enou...Read More

MLS GW10 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW10 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer MLS DEADLINE GW10 – Thursday 12TH MAY 00:00AM (So that’s midnight on Wednesday night for our UK lot!) We are nearly 1/3 of the way through the MLS Fantasy season, and so far we’ve been on such an unanticipated course that’s it’s looking very unlikely that things will normalize as the season goes on. We typically think of the World Cup years as the difficult MLS seasons to navigate – but this is turning out to be the season of chaos for so many fantasy players. And if anybody tells you that this is just par for the course, they’re either lying or they don’t follow MLS closely enough to really appreciate how crazy this year has been thus far. We can probably partially blame some of these new trends on the purposefully crafte...Read More

MLS GW9 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW9 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer MLS DEADLINE GW9 – FRIDAY 6TH MAY 00:00AM I’m going to be completely honest, I’ve had a busy week. And being that it’s been a busy week, I’ve had to delay writing this article for a couple of days. That’s a good thing. I think if I’d have stuck to my normal writing schedule, this article would have been much more dour, maybe even downright nasty. Why? Because DGW8 was just a mess on so many levels. But I’ve had time to calm down now – so maybe my memory of this last week has been downgraded to being only mildly maddening. But no matter how you slice it, the DGW’s in this league have been borderline awful this year. SKC have taken the mantle that DC had last year of being the ‘rotate for rotation’s sake’ team. And then factor in t...Read More

MLS GW8 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer

MLS GW8 Tips – Fantasy Major League Soccer MLS DEADLINE GW8 – THURSDAY 28TH APRIL 00:00AM- UK GMT Time (Ergo, Wednesday at Midnight!!!!) If MLS Fantasy was a dog, I would’ve kicked it this weekend. If it was a sacred ancient text, I would’ve lit a match and set it on fire. And if it was a perfect plate of food from the finest restaurant in the land, I would’ve set it on the floor and crapped on it. You get the idea. I was not a fan of MLS Fantasy this weekend – and I’m sure most of you weren’t either. I think Kaka’s injury report AFTER the round locked was the real kicker for everybody. Obviously Orlando and the league knew he wouldn’t be playing much sooner than the report, but the MLS has never been a fan of doing anything with good timing (just look at the monstrous de...Read More
