Barry and Paul’s Predictions – The Final Reckoning

Barry and Paul’s Predictions – The Final Reckoning Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions – The Final Reckoning. GW38 brought the season to a close in typical GW38 style. The final game-week of the Premier League often throws ups some unusual final scorelines and this season was no different; a 9 goal thriller in Spurs last home game at Wembley, City scoring a solitary goal in their win at St Mary’s, and of course my beloved Newcastle putting 3 past Chelsea without reply – Happy days! What started as an informal and innocent comment on another random article, asking you what you thought the game-weeks scores would be that week, has turned into something of an FF247 staple article now! Careful what you say around here folks, it can often rob you of hours of your life! Tha...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW38

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW38 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW38. We’re in the middle of the DGW from hell, well I am, and after reading the boards in recent days it appears I am not alone. GW38 brings the season to a close; it feels like a merciful end at present! With a fixture still to play there will be no results posted in this article, instead we’ll post an end of season article next week when we’ll have the GW37 and 38 winners and of course announce the overall league winner! The Overall League Table As we stood after GW36… The rules are few; 1 entry per person, and all entries must be submitted prior to the first game of the game-week. Kick-off this week comes on Sunday at 15.00. Once all the games have been played, we’ll count up the scores and the winner...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW36

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW36 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW36. I’ll start this article with a special thanks to my fellow chuckle brother Barry (aka Matt) for picking up full responsibility for both the maths and writing responsibilities In my absence in GW34, love you bro. (Editor note: Errrr, you mean the editing team for doing Matt’s math and proofreading for him, right? right!?) There was a minor scheduling error with the incorrect first fixture for GW35, in light of that we have not included the first scorer points towards that game-week. Apologies. (Editor’s note: oh, it was all Matt, he deserves the credit.) With the last B&P’s covering two game-weeks, one of which was the DGW34, there are far too many fixtures to run through in great detail. T...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW32

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW32 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW32. It feels like GW31 was a long long time ago, so forgive me for being brief! The standout result was of course Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of Watford, Mo Salah goes from strength to strength, if only Liverpool had played in the 3 o’clock kick-off so a few more would have got the first scorer correct! The only other really notable result was the Palace 0-2 win over Huddersfield which was a right kick in the teeth for anyone predicting success for the Terriers in either FPL or B&P’s (which is obviously way more important!). Just one winner this week and that was Leprechaun with 7pts; not bad for just 4 matches! AT, who is becoming a regular in the weekly leaderboard, took 2nd spot with a close 6pts and ma...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW31

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW31 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW31. It’s always nice when a player pops up with the first goal of the game-week that people simply did not see coming. Anyone have Marcus Rashford? No me either. Rashford scored the first goal in Man Utd 2-1 win; he then grabbed the second, as if to drive home the point. Other notable results were Swansea grabbing a 0-0 despite playing with 10 men for almost the full match, Chelsea chucking away a clean sheet at the death (2-1) and Arsenal finding their cojones not once, not twice but three times, not to mention Troy Deeney losing his. A tie at the top this week, Igy4 and Labyrinth both finished on 12pts. It was a close ran affair, with third place also shared, Mahelmy, Sam10, Jamie Mc and our very own boy-wo...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW30

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW30 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW30. So what did we learn this past game-week? Well Arsenal are still rubbish, perhaps that’s unfair on Brighton given their result the previous game-week, but come on, it’s 3 defeats on the bounce for the gunners now, what are the chances of it being 4 come next week? A fixture like Swansea v West Ham would have been a shoe-in for a low-score draw earlier in the season, but in recent weeks they’ve become somewhat unpredictable; a 4-1 defeat in GW28, a 4-1 win in GW29, will Huddersfield be able to keep the result respectable this week? Your guess is as good as (probably better) than mine. This week we have two sets of winners, as we reveal the results of both GW’s 28 and 29: In GW28 it was Shanec who came out ...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW26

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW26 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW26. Perhaps Arsenal were too preoccupied with their pursuit of Aubameyang in GW25, their 3-1 defeat to Swansea was a bad start for B&P predictors. Luckily Palace and West Ham stepped up to the plate with a much predicted 1-1- hurray! On to night 2, played out to backdrop of deadline day. Bournemouth shocked Chelsea and B&P predictors with a 0-3 win, Man City duly delivered on the result widely predicted in their 3-0 win and Stoke v Watford, Newcastle v Burnley and Southampton v Brighton all provided stable mediocrity many seen coming a mile off. LAST WEEKS WINNERS! Top spot this week is shared between Mamsi and Matt who scored an impressive 14pts. Just a point behind in 3rd place was Coyotes (13 pts)...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW25

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW25 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW25. GW24 started as many of you had predicted; a comfortable Chelsea win and a goal by Eden Hazard after just 3 minutes. It ended less predictably; a Liverpool defeat at the Liberty Stadium. Hats off to our very own Nostradamus Cookie for getting that one right! Arsenal showed us a glimpse of life without Alexis with a 4-1 win, high-flyer DenPerryDidIt coming so close to getting it spot-on with his 3-1 prediction. LAST WEEKS WINNERS! Top spot this week is shared between Albox and the aforementioned DenPerryDidIt with both finishing on an impressive 13pts. Just a point behind in joint 3rd place were Mito, Bry, Init, Matt and Smash10, so close guys! Thanks to everyone else who entered, better luck next week! Co...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW23

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW23 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW23. We’re back! Miss us? No I didn’t think so, But we’re sure you’ve all missed making your predictions, in a calm and orderly fashion, on a weekly basis, not 4 gameweeks all at once. GW23 see’s the Premier League fixture schedule return to normality, the Double Gameweek is but a distant memory, so lets see how you’ve all fared over the festivities shall we… Weekly Leaderboard GW’s 19 – 22 GW19 WINNER = Rosco on 10 pts. Tied for 2nd place were Kop, DenPeryDidIt and Fieldy. GW20 WINNER = DMC on 13 pts. Tied for 2nd place were micbarca10 and Fieldy. GW21 WINNER = RedRobbo on 13 pts. 2nd place was MBD, 3rd place was Elle. GW22 WINNER = Leprechaun on 16 pts. 2nd place was Neelbasus. Tied for 3rd...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW19 – GW22

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW19 – GW22 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW19 – GW22 (more on that in a moment). Man City and Liverpool were perhaps the predictable stand-out scores this week with 4 goals in their respective fixtures. Joining them in the ‘4 goal gang’ this week, were Huddersfield who recorded a surprise 1-4 victory away to Watford, anyone have that? No me neither. LAST WEEKS WINNER! And finally we have a correct first goal scorer prediction! Where many have failed before, Coyotes correctly predicted Christian Benteke would be the first scorer in the GW. Those 5pts were enough to propel Coyotes to the top, finishing as this week’s winner on 12 pts. Mito came a close second with a solid 11 pts and this week’s top 3 was completed by Pancho and DMC who weig...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW18

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW18 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW18. Will anyone ever predict the first goal scorer of the game week? Daryl Janmaat scored for Watford and the game week’s first goal, those 5 bonus points remain elusive. Leicester and Man City had the standout score-lines of the week, both teams scoring 4 on the road, City’s was predicted by a few, Leicester not so much. LAST WEEKS WINNERS! A strong showing from the contributors this week with Matt and GP coming top of the pile with 14pts closely followed by Silvers on 13pts. Thanks to everyone who entered, better luck next week everyone! Congrats to Matt and GP, please contact FF247 at contact@fantasyfootball247.co.uk to get your hands on that FF247 t-shirt. Weekly Leaderboard (GW18) Winner = Matt and...[Read More]

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW17

Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW17 Welcome to Barry and Paul’s Predictions GW17. Another week, another obscure first goal scorer. While most went with a Chelsea player and in most cases a Chelsea win, it was Marco Arnautovic who popped up to disappoint in the Hammers surprise 1-0 victory over Chelsea. Special mention to Swirly who did correctly predict a West Ham win! 8 of the 10 matches finished in a draw or a win by a 1 goal margin, Spurs 5-1 destruction of Stoke (thank you Harry!!) the only standout scoreline. LAST WEEKS WINNERS! Last week there was an administrative error in the counting department, thankfully Coys was very understanding (I bet Mito would have kicked right off) in pointing this out and the error was quickly rectified. I’m assured that no such error will be o...[Read More]
