Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

Morning fellas, just a last piece of Euro talk before the real stuff begins. Was if GP or NIN that was saying the other day about expanding the tournament to 32 teams? Just wanted to bring it up again because I was just watching SSN and they are reporting that there are whispers/rumours that UEFA are considering the 2024 tournament to be 32 teams! The opposition to that is there are only 55 official UEFA teams so you would only be cutting 23 teams which people say will make the qualification stage a bit of a waste of time.

Personally I like having the more teams the better it gives the smaller teams a chance at some real experience and as we saw this tournament with the likes of Iceland and Wales the smaller teams can mix it with the big boys. Even during the groups we saw Albania, Romania and Hungary all come away with decent results Hungary even topping their group. Maybe I’m just being optimistic but if they are planning on having games all over Europe in 2020 then why not have more countries in to draw in more of a crowd. I know I’d love to see the Irish and Scots in the streets having a good old singalong, am I right? laugh

      Matt

      Just seeing this mate.

Yeah I mentioned it at the weekend. Not that I was in favour of it (despite the fact it COULD help Scotland, if they ever get their act together) but rather that I think it’s probably only right that in tournament football only half the group should qualifiy as opposed to more than half of the ‘best thirds’ making it. So you can only go back down to 16 or up to 32. Being that each game is more money which can be made, I can only see UEFA expanding as opposed to downsizing the competition now. Especially now as it seems each tournament will be held continent-wide rather than in one individual nation.

If they expand further, we don’t even need f-ing qualifications. LMAO!! On that note, I heard that GB and its countries might be transported to the Oceana Cup with NZ and Australia. 😉 😛

I agree with you there I didn’t really like that half of the 3rd best teams went through because it’s not like each group was even in terms of talent. I think UEFA will either leave it as is or expand like you I really don’t see them going back to 16.

Haha Raz that’s what the argument is that if the tournament does go up to 32 then why even bother having qualifiers!!
