Good Evening and welcome to the launch of my Summer Competition. Given as UEFA have left all us good fantasy folk stranded with no actual competition to play I thought I would step forward to try and fill the void a bit with my own little competition, just to keep us entertained. The competition is based on the Under 21 European Tournament which starts on Friday 16th June. Screw UEFA then, let’s get on with it…
Your aim is to gather as many points as possible, its that simple.
Follow this link to the UEFA site to find all you need to know when selecting your men who’ll hopefully bring you European Glory (then click on the Under 21 tab).
Lets Play ‘Its A Pre-Tournament Gamble’
The Rules.
A – Select 5 players from any position you wish.
B – Highlight one as your Captain (C) for double points.
C – Your men may come from just one of the Under 21 teams or a pick and mix from any.
D – Your five man team must be picked ahead of the tournament starting, hence its all a Potty gamble.
E – There will be two groups which I’ll draw on Monday at 9pm, with the top four after the group stage is complete making the semi-finals stage.
The Potty Points System!!!!
All your players will gain points as follows…
Appearance (and even off the bench) = 15pts
Goalkeeper/Defender cleansheet = 25pts
Goalkeeper/Defender conceeding = -10pts per goal
Any player making an assist = 20pts per assist
Any player scoring = 30pts per goal
Yellow or Red Card flashed = -5pts & -8pts respectively.
Now pick your 5 star men from these teams…

England
Slovakia
Sweden
FYR Macedonia
Portugal
Serbia
Spain
Czech Republic
Italy
Denmark
Germany
The 1st part of the competition, and your 5 picks as per above, are for the group stages only. You will get to pick a different squad after that but stay tuned for details should you qualify that far.
So do a wee bit of research then post those men of yours below.

I barely know any of them let alone their tactics and gems!
I was looking for any signs of the possible Polish starting xi and I noticed that one of the lads showed up as a defensive mid in the predicted teams but was a defender in the fantasy game. I don’t actually know if he was playing midfield or not.
But I saw the save and who the shot was from.
He did play DM. Not the greatest OOP find ever but yeah. Maccies were ‘better’ with those last time. We literally had Swedish forwards listed as defenders if anyone remembers?!

Well, I have to say I’m very impressed with that Polish fantasy site. Dead easy to use and the auto updates were a pleasant surprise. Kind of put the usual UEFA / Maccies one to shame. Well done Tom and your team if you’re out there and great find Morbid Mike!

Yeah that was super impressive. They got us and the Scout lot playing as a result. I’d be interested in using it for the CL if they do that, rather than the UEFA one. He says in an Alan Brazil “I’ve never been” tone…..

Hi Tom, do you guys do Champions League games? The official one is usually somewhere between patchy and a joke. They had to cancel GW1 last season!
Hi on Saturday! Actually, we’ve put a lot of work in last months to polish a page up, so we intend to launch some next fantasy football edition. It’s still not precised which league/tournament it will be, but if we get many requests about Champions League, we will definitely do it. That’s a natural choice but so far I thought that we can’t compete with UEFA’s one (last years I wasn’t playing much Fantasy UCL, I was just doing quick overview of their page). According to your words, maybe I was wrong…

Whilst I see you on the boards I would just like to say hi and thank you for the game. I actually love how simple and interactive it is. I think you guys have come up with a brilliant format and interface. Well done!
And secondly, I’m sure you would run a better fantasy CL game than the official one. There have been so many problems in the past; as Init said, we lost a matchday one time and the way even the login and “saved” changes pages were unresponsive were frankly embarrassing for an official game run in the name of such a huge football organisation.
