Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 19 article. After two poor weeks in a row we finally had some luck and posted a decent score of 76 to get us back on track and that leaves us at 64,823 overall. Well, we say luck, there’s nothing better than a successful FPL transfer decision and one that brings you 30 points is to be rejoiced! Last week we culled Kane and brought in Zlatan and captained him. Suffice to say the big man didn’t disappoint. And we won’t lie, we had a wry smile when Kane missed his penalty. Game-weeks hang on such fine margins at times. So Zlatan was obviously our bedrock but we saw decent returns elsewhere too, notably from Pedro who we had hung onto more in hope than anticipation as he had missed the previous week and posted poor scores of 1, 3 and 2 prior to that. Our patience was rewarded with a big 13 this week. Unfortunately the silly sausage then went and got himself suspended for this week which leaves us in a bit of a pickle. And said pickle only got bigger when Walker went and got himself suspended as well having posted a rather disappointing 1 pointer for us. His team-mate Erik did rather better with two assists and 10 points though. Other than Cech getting a straight 6 though the rest were fairly mundane other than our 3rd pickle… Our Itchy pick was described by one commentator this week as “simply a poor choice at the moment”, and we couldn’t agree more! Especially when he didn’t even start this week. He redeemed himself with a late goal though to give us a 5 for him and it could have been more as he was waiting to tap in the Sterling cross which Davies turned in for an own goal. Goal or not he’s still an issue which needs dealing with, to add to the others #gulp…

Transfer – Sold Pedro and Iheanacho and bought Phillips and Defoe
We will admit this one had us a bit stumped. Every which way we turned it was far from ideal. And the ideas and suggestions were thin on the ground, which in some ways was a relief, after the fighting seen recently as a result of there being so many in the past few weeks. In the end we decided to go with the tried and tested in terms of fairly consistent FPL point scorers in the shape of Phillips and Defoe. It’s not overly exciting or innovative but it probably keeps the wheels turning for a bit until better opportunities present themselves.

The obvious point here is that we haven’t really planned for Aguero’s return. In truth we are happy enough to run with Costa and Ibra as our main forwards for the time being and we will make a call on Kun in the next few weeks if anything happens to our big two or if Kun shows signs of life again.

The other obvious point is that our team does look a bit bedraggled this week, we are aware of it so don’t come pointing it out please! It happens sometimes when you encounter a few suspensions at once, but then sometimes the most aesthetic of teams don’t always bring home the bacon so let’s see what our ugly pigs can do for us this time out…

THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR Gameweek 19

Our Captain is Zlatan
He’s been in imperious form and faces a Middlesbrough team who are without a win in their last 8 away games. It was him or Costa and both are good shouts this week and we would happily have gone with either but we went with Zlatan. Let’s hope the Iceman cometh again…

If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.

    Howdy!
Got 1FT and 0.2, thinking of holding it and work with 2 next week.
Anything major jumping out at anyone that o should be doing?
Ake over Amat even though I’m playing Llorente or do I have it right?
Cappo is Ibra at the min but may switch to one of the Chelsea boys.. discuss!

Same as rip really Rosco, looks good, I’d save the FT.

I put up some thoughts on that capo issue last night, it’s on page 1, comment 2 of this article. Just to save me repeating it! Basically I had it on Ibra and talked myself into Costa based on the scoring and conceding stats of all 4 parties involved. That said I’d be happy enough to roll with either option.

    1. Stanislas & defoe

    3. Routledge & Giroud
    4. Capoue & Giroud
    Which option is right?

Can’t seem to decide on my captain this week- literally had dreams I picked the wrong one last night (and that I also took an -4 hit which cost me my H2H match) and woke up in a cold sweat, lol. FPL is messing with my mind!! laugh

Didn’t actually take a hit this week but still can’t decide on my captain. How crazy is a last match punt on Sanchez with Giroud most likely starting? Can Ibra keep his run going? Will Costa come back fresh and firing? Who are you going with??

      Hi Red,

I got to watch Liverpool against Stoke as you maybe did and on that defensive performance, I would side with a Chelsea player and that, for me, is Hazard. Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace could potentially keep out or at least restrict United and Arsenal.

Hey GP, how’s it going? Thanks for the advice. Man, it’s a tough call this week and it seems like getting the captain pick correct is the difference between abject failure and FPL glory lately. Certainly the difference between winning and losing H2H matches in the leagues and the Cup. My Cup opponent scored 90 points last week and has triple Arsenal defense. Really need Palace to nick a goal this weekend, ha! Any big plans for New Years Eve?

Any preference of who to start in my last defensive slot? Pretty horrible choices with Amat (BOU), Holebas (TOT), and Chambers (mun). Yikes.

        • Red

          Amat I think mate.

I’m on emergency call with work until the 3rd of January so can’t celebrate with alcohol unfortunately so I’m down for driving duties!

          Yourself?

        • RedVT says:

Thanks GP. I’ve actually got him starting so that’s all the confirmation I needed. We’re going to see my old college roommates who get together with their families every NYE. It’s more of an eating party than a drinking party these days as everyone has kids now, but that suits me just fine. smile

What do you do for work (if you don’t mind me asking)? I do IT work in the data center at the hospital in my city, been there for 15 years now. Anyway, thanks for the advice as always. Hope you have a great NYE, happy 2017 mate!

        • I’m an engineer in highways (roads as we call ’em) and part of that is voluntary standby work which we take in a rota so although the office is closed for the holidays we still need to be on standby to deal with any roads emergencies or gritting if the roads are set to freeze.

I like the sound of the eating! There is only so much coffee and tea you can drink whilst everyone else is drinking so inevitably I end up eating through boredom more than anything!

        • And a prosperous New Year ahead to you too mate. :ok:

        • RedVT says:

Nice one GP, that sounds like important work. Our group is on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so I can sympathize with you working/being on-call during some holidays. It sucks sometimes but I’m happy to have a good job. Makes all the fun things when we’re NOT at work possible! smile
