Welcome to Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 35. We came home alright this week, with a fairly respectable score of 63. Not spectacular but enough to see us rise slightly in the rankings by about 4k to 45,895. And this was despite Captain Negredo stinking the place out. What on earth were we thinking?! At least we weren’t alone on that one… he had a modicum of form and certainly the fixtures in his favour. The clue was probably in him being the centre forward for the lowest scoring team out of all 92 league clubs though. Stats, damned lies, and statistics? Sometimes they are what they are for a reason. As for the others they had to pull him out of the proverbial, and most did just that we are pleased to say. Jaku, Walker and Valencia all brought home a clean sheet, whilst Erik, Hazard and King all got a goal each. Our other two forwards seemed to go on strike in sympathy with Alvaro though.

This weeks transfer – Negredo OUT, Gabbiadini IN
This weeks transfer out needs little explanation, suffice to say! The in one was probably a foregone conclusion too, and although Benteke did garner a little bit of support, Gabbi won with ease. The Saints have notched some decent winning margins at home as of late (4 against Sunderland and Watford and 3 against Palace) and this week sees them play the team with the most amount of goals against them on the road in the shape of Hull who have shipped 41 in that respect.

The Team in full this week…

Our captain is: Harry Kane
Having captained that useless Spaniard last week it should come as no surprise that we have gone for a somewhat more reliable option this week in the form of Harry Kane. Our new signing Gabbi ran him close in the vote but his record against Arsenal swung it Kane’s way, he has scored in all 4 NLDs in which he has played scoring 5 goals along the way. With a goal and two assists in the league as well as a goal against Chelsea in the semi-final last weekend his recent form is also quite good.

    Hello Everyone,

Many of us are waiting for the WC activation for GW36 in advance of the BB for GW37. All seems very sensible.
I must admit to being a bit puzzled by how many people have 2 Soton defenders in their draft teams. They are cheap and they have 2 DGWs is the most probable explanation.
However, Liverpool, Arsenal, Middlesbrough, ManU is the fixture list. They are unlikely to get much change out of 3 of those and could get spanked!

Beware the lure of the DGW I say. Look what happened with Middlesbrough last week!!!!

      Good point, Leprechaun

A lot of people understandably prioritise getting in premium attacking players in a double gameweek, and that wil often mean making sacrificing quality in the backline. If the defenders have to be cheap, they may as well be DGWers, to maximise the points potential. I think having cheap defenders/goalies (such as the defs from Southampton) can be considered a tactical means of enabling high-scoring, high-value attackers. So anything these defenders get should be thought of as a bonus. I’m not saying that a cheap DGW defender will always outscore a singleton defender – depends on fixtures, of course, but it’s a matter of judgement and probabilities. Who knows, maybe Holgate will give better returns than, say, Stephens?

      • Leprechaun says:

Yes Q, I think what you say is the reason why these players are in the teams. That said, I would not want 2 Soton defenders in GW36 at the same time as I was benching one of the “better” front 8 that I was able to afford.
Sometimes, avarice is one of the deadly sins to avoid.

    Hey guys,
I’ve got 6.7 in the bank and I’m looking to get rid of either Crouch or Siggy, suggestions? Also I’m wildcarding next week so really doesn’t matter who I bring in in terms of future gws.

Morning all. Having problems deciding who to bench and captain this week – any pointers, please?

Eriksen, Alli, Sanchez, Hazard, King, Lukaku, Benteke, Rashford

Am thinking that I might bench (gulp) Sanchez. Mad?

    Thanks

      Leprechaun says:

      It’s not easy Q.
If it was me, I might bench Rashford or even Lukaku before Sanchez. He is one of those players who is capable of the truly explosive score. Whilst I don’t expect it away to Spurs, I would be very nervous if he was on my bench.

Captain’s choice is always personal but I also asked for advice earlier.
I would choose Hazard, Alli or Benteke.

Hope this helps. Don’t shoot me if it is not perfect smile

      DMC says:

I’b bench Rash and capo Tekkers! You know what happens when you bench that man Alexis.

      • Qwkliduzzit says:

        Thanks, DMC and Leprechaun.

Had thought of benching either Lukaku and Sanchez! But both could suddenly grab a couple of goals – despite the opponents they face this weekend. So I may stick ’em into the starting XI after all. King against Sunderland also promises returns. May have to be Rashford for the bench, then. And Tekkers at home v Burnley for the armband seems a good shout too. Thanks, guys, and good luck for this GW.

Anyone know what time after the GW35 deadline closes we can start doing transfers for DGW36? Always shuts down for about an hour or so, and I’m itching to start trading with my WC!

        • Leprechaun says:

          You are keen!
Give the system an hour or so but the first price changes are not until late so no need to panic.

        • Qwkliduzzit says:

I think last season price changes kicked it at about 2am UK time, but this season price changes seem to come at random times. I keep checking “beat the price rise” tab in FFFix, and there are often players whose prices suddenly change without much predictability. Players can be at over 200 per cent and their prices remain static for aeons, then out of nowhere another player’s price will alter. As every £0.1m is critical for my planned WC team, I need to be on the ball to make transfers at the right time. Hoping to transfer in players with upward price trend at the beginning of the week in the hope that when I move for the players I really want in the WC team I’ll have earne those extra £0.1ms…

        • Andy says:

I’m in the UK and it normally takes about 15 minutes for the game to update after the deadline has passed before we can access the transfer page. I’ve started the bad habit of looking at my rivals team before anything else after an update.

        • Qwkliduzzit says:

Hey, Andy. That’s a good ploy! Mind you, with WCs, rivals’ line-ups will change completely, so trying to block them off (if you are defending a lead) becomes well-nigh impossible, unless you know something about their risk-averseness or sense of adventure!
