Fantasy Football FF247 Team Game-week 10

Guess the best we can say about our game-week is that at least we still got a green arrow. We made a small move to 565K after jumping about 40K places in the overall. Our score of 57 was six points above the average and our game-week ranking was in the 1.2 million range. Let us give a rundown of how we managed our score and move along to our transfer plans and captaincy choice for the upcoming game-week.

In goal we had Boaz Myhill who finally delivered after several weeks of somewhat disappointing returns. The Baggie’s keeper was able to keep a clean sheet and grabbed himself two bonus points for a total of eight points.

In defence we were able to bookend a one pointer with a pair of zeros. Francis was part of that defensive wall made out of straw that Bournemouth put up at the Etihad, Naughton didn’t play and neither did our other two defensive subs so that also became a 0. Shockingly with one point, Morgan, a Leicester defender, that has no business seeing the pitch even on a ghost ship was our high scorer with one point. I guess he was the only one that didn’t let us down?

Moving onto our midfield, we saw another good showing from our fantastic four. As all players were able to get at least an assist and in the case of Payet and Sanchez they were able to do even better by both grabbing a goal. Sanchez once again reached double digits. Payet scored seven points and that is five games on the bounce that he has managed to grab a goal or an assist at the very least. Our captain was a bit unlucky to not dial up a bigger number than five (ten as capo) points. As he should have probably fared better than just an assist in the destruction of The Cherries. Mahrez was able to chip in with an assist despite only playing 45 minutes. Certainly one we will have to monitor, because if Ranieri decides to keep him on the bench again to start off with, he will quickly start only delivering one pointers.

Vardy was the only one of our forwards that was able to bring home a good haul. He has now scored a goal in seven of his nine fixtures and in two cases he grabbed a brace. One almost gets the feeling that he stole Harry Kane’s goal scoring prowess from last season in a manner that resembles the movie Space Jam. Our new signing Pelle naturally cooled off after we transferred him in. Hopefully he quickly gets back to his 35 points in 3 GW’s form. Our last “forward” Gomis brought home another 2 points. Naturally we bought him right after he had scored in four straight and now have had to endure his enormous lack of quality for five straight game-weeks. Just too bad he doesn’t get a bonus for having a bad touch, wayward shots and staying offside. His name was floated as a transfer target before the game-week started, but the rest of the committee found it somewhat amusing that anyone would bring him up as the one to leave for a hit to Costa. As this poor brave committee member was given excuses like “Swans have ok games ahead”, “I’d keep Gomis for some Monday night fun”, “Yeah I’d hang onto Gomis for another few games” just wonderful…just wonderful. Let’s just move onto the transfers for this week before my head explodes. (Or I grow a pair and actually speak out when the time is ripe).

Transfer(s) for GW10… NONE!
To say we didn’t come to this decision lightly would be putting it mildly! The cause of so many bloody noses in the FF247 offices this week? Gom…, no can’t even bare to say his name. Reason? Mainly because we watched Monday night’s game and came to the same conclusion as most people did – The Panther is actually bloody useless! After his electric start of 4 goals in 4 games he’s since posted scores of 2, 2, 1, 2 and 2. His actual performance the other night was so shocking that even a game against Villa this week wasn’t proving enough of a reason to convince us to keep him. Which tells you everything you need to know. Ideally we’d have booted him out, changed the locks, snuck out the back door and moved house. The trouble with doing it this week was the lack of a quality replacement who also had the fixtures to justify the move this week. It was a basically a straight choice between replacing him with Lukaku or Bony, given that both have some favourable fixtures in the weeks ahead, or keeping him. In the end we just decided to stick with him. We just hope that the sight of him in our GW10 line-up isn’t enough to distract the rest of our, ahem, ‘stars’ from performing.

Our team in full…

Team Selection
Myhill starts in goal by default. Our defence isn’t exactly ideal this week, but then who’s ever is?! We expect Naughton and Kolarov may both be back this week so they start, for what it’s worth. Beyond that it was a straight choice between Francis and Morgan. Both are at home but Bournemouth have conceded just 3 in that respect as opposed to Leicester’s 10 so Franny gets the nod.

The front 7 picks itself of course with Westwood our 2 point sub should anyone else not make it. Then again if a certain Swansea ‘striker’ gets more than 2 we’ll be very surprised…

Captain
Our captain this week is…. Jamie Vardy
Man on fire. 9 in 9. Need we say more? He was a fairly unanimous pick. Even one of those that mischievously suggested Sanchez had declared on site earlier in the day that Vardy was their own preference.

Our vice-captain is…. Alexis Sanchez
Should something happen to Jamie we are happy to see Sanchez come in and fill the void.
