Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4

Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 4. Thankfully the International break is over and what a way to kick it off in GW4. A Saturday lunch time affair brings with it the most interesting fixture of the week. City will play host to Liverpool and their new arrival Keita…wait, apparently he arrives next season, oh well, at least we get to see how Virgil van Dijk fits in. As for City, while Alexis did not arrive, Aguero is more than capable of taking up the pouting. That game is followed by five 3pm games. Big money Arsenal welcome in The Cherries, high scoring Brighton tangle with The Baggies, Everton will look to sober up after that drunken performance last time out when they meet up with September Kane. Leicester look to steal some points off the champions and Saints and Watford mix it up in a battle of two unbeaten teams. We finish the Saturday fixtures when the powerful Man United side pay a visit to Bet365 stadium, where I am sure the owners will take your bets on United crushing the home team.

Sunday makes us wish we were still in the International break as Burnley gets their chance at 3 easy points when Palace comes in and if that wasn’t punishment enough we get hit with Swansea vs Newcastle in the late game.

Sunday had some terrible games, but not to worry, as Monday will not be outdone and they offer up equally unwatchable stuff when The Hammers welcome in Huddersfield.

    Champions League VOTE!

For those playing Champions League this season which site do you think we should use for the Regulars League?

    1. The normal one – http://uclfantasy.uefa.com/en

    2. The new one – http://fantasytopfootball.com/

The 2nd one is the new name / branding for the guys who provided the U21’s game over the summer.

Happy to play either but won’t be doing both so which one should we all use?

      Gear says:

Didn’t play the U21’s, was the format any good?

      • inittowinit says:

Yeah it worked great, very easy and no obvious glitches in the working of the site itself. They did have a few issues with over pricing players towards the end but that was all.

Just need to decide on one or the other and go with it.

I’m inclined to give the new guys a go but happy to go with the majority.

Init – I liked the u21 experience with the new site but I’ve read the rules and it doesn’t seem to be like a like. Apparently, each gw only has 6 games. As a result there are no limit to transfers. You’re basically on a WC every gw. I don’t mind that too much but the 6 games thing anoys me a bit. Why don’t we do both as a trial for next season? If not, then my vote goes to the uefa one. Cheers

Another poor week for me – or certainly average at best. I don’t think that major surgery as required just yet but certainly have 4 or 5 players who need changed.

Team is below – I’m thinking of bringing in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting straight away to beat any possible price rise, for Xhaka, and probably Davies for Kompany after the CL games. Also willing to take a hit if required – have 2 FT and 0ITB.

    Any other suggestions?

The 4th midfielder slot is where I generally try and go for a punt and to build some team value – which if he plays anything like yesterday then Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting should certainly do. Plus it’s a great name…albeit an expensive one to put on the back of your shirt!

    Cheers

      Smash10 says:

Sounds a bit like chasing previous points to me. Xhaka tends to get more cards than assists. Chaopo maybe but he only scored 3 times last season. So not really sure

      • Red Robbo says:

I had got Xhaka as he started scoring toward the end of last season and thought that might continue after the 2 assists in GW1, but clearly not! He has to go so open to other suggestions in that price range – Pascal Groß is the only other one who has form & fixtures that I can see, but again that could be chasing previous points.

Just a thought, but don’t we all bring in players when they look like hitting some form anyway i.e. chase previous points?

        • Mr Bean says:

Wouldnt consider Chaopo for another 4 weeks with fixtures…Ritchie and Gross are probably better short term punts, but who knows…he scored 2 against United!

Kompany to Davies seems a solid move.

        • Mr Bean says:

Most people chase previous points yes, like bringing Kane in now he’s started scoring. The aim is to predict this before it happens, like bringing Kane in for this week because his attacking stats were so good – doesn’t always work granted.

Very difficult to do with cheap midfielders because their points often come randomly so its all a bit of a gamble. Here are the stats on all three I mentioned:

Gross – 4 shots, 2 on target, 7 attempted assists (not entirely sure what this means really)
Choupo – 12 shots, 3 on target, 3 attempted assists
Ritchie – 8 shots, 2 on target, 5 attempted assists

        • Red Robbo says:

Thanks Mr Bean – some useful info there. You’ve brought out my inner stats geek. Using your stats, that means that:

Gross has been responsible for 10% of the shots and 17% of the shots on target for Brighton
Choupo 22% of shots, 25% shots on target for Stoke
Ritchie 15% of shots, 9% on target for ‘toon.

          Newcastle have had most shots (52, 23 O/T). Stoke 46/12, Brighton 39/12.

My gut says Choupo but my head is currently trying to work out if the stats, form and fixtures back it up :borg:

        • i love the “attempted assist” stat. never seen it before.

Do I need to do anything? I got 2 ft’s and ummm 0.5m in the bank or something? Willian and Lukaku to ummm Eriksen and ummm Firminho?

    hi all

What would you do with this? Only 0.2 ITB and 1FT

Wait until I see how Ince does tomorrow night? Anyone at his price or less look appealing? Doucoure has a couple now but they play City, Grob has produced but in one game etc
