Fantasy World Cup Live Match Day 14

It’s hard to believe that the group stages come to an end today! We’ve had a great two weeks of football and those of us under the age of 40 will probably agree that at this stage it is the best World Cup which we remember. We’ve already said goodbye to England, adios to Spain and arrivederci to Italy and today we could conceivably be saying adeus to Portugal…oh and let’s not forget that Luis Suarez has once more upset the holy joes!!

First up today is Group G as the US face Germany while Portugal square up to Ghana. A draw between the Germans and the Yanks will see both qualify for the next round and word on the street is that Angela and Obama have had a natter on the blower and everything has been arranged, this would see the Germans top the group. Should there be a positive result one way or the other in this game then both Portugal and Ghana will hope to take advantage with a victory, but with the Portuguese currently on a goal difference of minus 4, they’ll need a minor miracle…maybe they know a few holy joes?!!!

The final group to come to a conclusion is Group H, with Belgium having already qualified after two workmanlike victories and the Belgians will claim top spot in the should they secure at least a point from their game against South Korea. 2nd spot in the groups is very much up for grabs, although a win for Algeria over the Russians will see them progress, while a draw could possibly be enough.

Thanks for reading Fantasy World Cup Live Match Day 15 – Good luck everyone!

Here’s my squad. Sitting on 334, and who knows whether Josh or myself will join Quallathon in escaping the group of POTTY Death! Overall pleased with my strategy of “Pick the 3 big name forwards; load the midfield with cheaper options who will all play; get a good mix of cheap defenders and hope for the best!”

Expected much more from Belgium. They’ve been awful in 3 matches now.

      And yet they’ve won three?

      • Raziel says:

Yip. Poorest group this WC though. Russia was shite, South Korea is the worst team this worldcup, only Algeria did above what was expected of them.

        • Raz

I agree with your assessment of those teams. But Belgium can only beat who they are grouped with. Interesting match with USA now. A sterner test.

        • Raziel says:

USA has had 3 real tests already. Can’t say Belgium has had any. Usually I need to see some progress in the game but I just don’t see it.

If USA is very fit next game, they can work Belgium they stand a fair chance. USA has the better team, Belgium the better individual players. I think South America’s heath is more suite for Americans than Europeans too. Unsure where you play next.

The Dutch play Mexico next, think it will be a very hard game. They’re not used to the heat of Fortaleza and Mexico is.

Good news for us then 😉

      • Raziel says:

Saw bits and pieces of your game today against Germany. You guys had 0 shots on goal?

Anyway, if the Belgians play as bad as they did in the group stages and you play like you did in the first 2 matches you stand a good chance against them yes. Saw 2 of the 3 games they played, and bits and pieces of the game today (South Korea was so bad I had to turn it off :P).

        • Josh721 says:

Yep… that’s what happens when you never get the ball haha. Haven’t had a chance to watch any of Belgium’s games, but 3 wins isn’t bad right?

        • Raziel says:

If you guys played the way you did in the first 2 matches and they played like they did in the first 3 matches you win it. However, I think they can do much better.

If you were in that group instead of Belgium you probably kill South Korea, Russia. Only Algeria could be tricky.
