FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team Gameweek 12

Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team Gameweek 12. Hmmmm, our slide into mediocrity accelerated in GW11 as we scored 43pts (vs an average of 44) which was a GW rank of 2,847,986, giving us a new global rank of 406,870. Bizarrely this was the second clean sheet in a row for Alonso and Chelsea – clearly his success does not reflect to us – when we score well he doesn’t, when he does we don’t. We are clearly not meant to be together. Our City trio of Sterling, Silva and Jesus scored 5 each which is symmetrically pleasing, while Richarlison scored again and would have contributed more if Young Tom had not missed the penalty that our Brazilian hero won.
The rest were rubbish – Kane (c) was another Wembley disaster – a true Englishman indeed. It’s been a long fortnight as the team licks its wounds and tries to do away with Alonso. Sadly, at the time of writing, all our squad remain intact. And Alonso is grinning from ear to ear. The ****.

Last weeks ‘result’…

This week we’re banking our transfer
The only transfer which was discussed at any stage during the current break was Ben Davies to Phil Jones. With the news that Jose Mourinho, the same Jose Mourinho who doesn’t talk about injured players, was furious over England’s treatment of Phil Jones and that as a result Jones is set to miss the Newcastle game we’ve shelved that idea. Knowing our luck, Jonesy will start this weekend and score! We don’t actually believe a word Jose says and he is clearly being a bit of a ‘told you so t*t’ here but on the basis that he is unlikely to contradict himself in the press conference we will play and safe and not buy him.

The rest of the team pretty much picks itself. It’s looking a little reliant on surviving Man City rotation but we are willing to risk that this week with Silva being almost nailed on anyway and Sterling having had a convenient international break injury / rest (delete as you see fit to believe) and Jesus hasn’t had his usual long haul flights to deal with. And may well benefit from any Kun uncertainty. Davies remains our risky pick but it’s come what may with that one. The wildcard stays intact for another week then. We will use it one week, we promise!

The team in full
And so this is how we line up ahead of GW12…

Our Captain is Harry Kane
No one else got a vote. However, after scrolling back through our inspiring WhatsApp chat it would appear that only three of us actually voted! Not that this matters as with three votes Kane had it won. Given Kane’s goalscoring form away from home our choice will hardly come as a surprise. He’s also scored six times in the last five league encounters between the two sides.

    Morning guys,

Site team has a lot of patience, wish I still my WC in tact.

Anyway, have already done Cedric -> Daniels and original plan was Bertrand -> Jones to play ahead of Surman.

With Jones’ a doubt, my second plan was Bertrand -> Mee/Lowton, but am starting to think I could just hold the transfer, I want Pope as a keeper for Burnley cover ideally.

Long term plan is Vardy -> Morata GW 14 and Silva -> Salah GW16, probably funded by downgrading Eriksen but very possibly by dropping Kane (mad I know).

Burnley defender now or hold for next week?

    Thanks people!

If you have another FT you might as well get Pope in now. Being the home team he’s got a better chance of a CS than Fab.

      • inittowinit says:

Totally agree with this. Last thing you need this week is another defender. If it’s a FT this is the sensible move.

        • Mr Bean says:

          Init,

5 at the back is my formation this year, i’m just interested as to how it fairs against the standard 3-4-3/3-5-2. I know most people on the site think it’s a bad idea but it hasn’t performed too badly so far.

All my comments need a footnote saying ‘Yes I do really want 5 defenders playing every week’.

You think the Pope move is better than holding the transfer?

      • Mr Bean says:

but Fab has Bournemouth home next week, while Pope plays Arsenal? Seems like a transfer that can wait.

        • inittowinit says:

Just looking at it from the POV that you don’t really need that 5th defender this week given your mids but if you insist on it then yeah Bertrand needs moving on looking at their fixtures.

If it’s the keeper then you’d just play Elliot next week.

        • Mr Bean says:

Yeah think i’m happy to play Surman and Bertrand isn’t dropping in price (I don’t think).

Will think about the Fab -> Pope move, see how it affects future transfers as Bertrand will still need to go by next week.

          Thanks.

    Advice please chaps..

    My Current Team:

    de Gea—–Elliot (sub)
    Monreal–Stones–Davies (will he play?)–Simpson (sub)–Long (sub)
Mhhitaryan–Alli (doubt, will he play?)–Fernandinho–Sterling (doubt, will he play?)–Carroll (Swansea v Burnley away)
    Kane–Lukaku–Quaner

    or

    Team I may Wildcard too:

    de Gea—Elliot (sub)
    Monreal–Stones–Moreno–Mariappa (sub)–Long (sub)
    Salah–Bakayoko–Fernandinho–Sterling–Colback (sub)
    Kane–Lukaku–Morata

Currently I have 1 Free Transfer and £1.3m in the bank.

Any advice on what I should do?

    Current Team
    Wildcard Team
Use my free transfer to replace either Davies, Alli or Sterling? – If so what move to make?
Save my Free Transfer for next week so I have 2?

    Cheers lads

      Red Robbo says:

I certainly wouldn’t wildcard to that team as none of your subs are playing apart from Elliot. I would consider bringing in Salah for Alli/Mkhi in the meantime and re-plan your WC to have playing subs.

      • TheDarkKnight says:

Trouble is I am not sure whether players in my starting 11 will even play, Davies, Alli, Sterling?

What would you suggest then out of:

        Keeping my current team
Wildcarding, but to a different team
Transferring out one of Davies, Alli or Sterling – if so, which one and who to?

        • Red Robbo says:

Not much you can do to solve the will they/won’t they play dilemmas until after the press conferences, as they all might be fine to play, so wait and see where you are likely to be short of players (and put together another WC team with playing subs just in case)

Guys, any advice here? I’m already on -4. Thanks chaps.

      inittowinit says:

Stop making your transfers so early? 😉

Obviously you’re in danger of playing with 10 here. Maybe even 9. It’s marginal gains but I think you do need to take another hit in defence there. Reluctantly.
