FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team Gameweek 18

Welcome to the FF247 Fantasy Football Site Team Gameweek 18. The good thing about this time of the season is that the game-weeks come thick and fast and there isn’t much time to ponder on a rubbish week. We scored 45pts in GW17, below average, dropped in rank to almost 150k. Not what we were hoping for, but let’s be honest we’ve been here before and undoubtedly, we’ll venture there again soon enough.

The highlights were obviously few and far between – clean sheets for new recruit Otamendi and a sneaky one for Christensen saw that Lady Luck did actually smile on us briefly. An assist for Richarlison was followed by an injury to the midfielder and it was left to Raheeeeem to (relatively speaking) save us with a couple of assists vs Swansea.

Captain Kane hit the post, which was more than Salah or Firmino did, while Hazard was maybe unfortunate not to contribute to Chelsea’s win at Huddersfield.

Oh well, these weeks happen – let’s move on, we have some cash in the bank and 2fts if we’re feeling particularly cut-throat.

Last weeks ‘result’…

This week’s transfer(s) – we have sold Firmino & Ruben Loftus-Cheek and bought Rooney & Shaqiri.
We used to be indecisive, but we aren’t sure now…

We could have cut this 5 ways and come up with 10 different scenarios.

At least.

We had DCL and Jones in at one point.

We had Lowton in and out of the exit cab so many times with no real direction that the poor lad is probably spinning around Glasgow city centre right about now.

Dunk got transfered out that many times he was subject to a murder investigation at one point. Seriously. The definition of dunking vs drowning was actually debated. Seriously. The unanimous conclusion was that anyone associated with IT should be drowned, not just dunked.

Quite how we ended up on Rooney and Shaq is anybody’s guess.

Or was it?

No.

The consensus seemed to be for DCL and Jones but then someone uttered the words “what does your gut say?”. Red rag to a bull that and Rooney was in sharpish. And he had Shaq Attack in his back pocket which was a bonus!

The team in full

And so this is how we line up ahead of GW18…

Our Captain is Eden Hazard
Hazard got all the votes. Despite not having returned an FPL point total above 3 for 2 weeks. Patience we have.

Our vice captain rarely gets a mention but it will this time for comedy value alone! For the record it is Harry Kane, away at City, for reasons only known to those who voted for that.

But when questioned “Why not Rooney?”, a certain voter, maybe of a furry disposition, replied “Rooney is the new Yaya”.

That may well be quoted on twitter on Monday night.

I’ve been set on Mahrez as captain but just realised they play in the early kick off. I’m not normally a fan of the early kick off captain. Thoughts?

Murray has two decent fixtures coming up, but if you really can’t take it with him on your side, then you can scout DLC on Monday and go that route if you see what you like. That could if the money works, get you from RLC to D. Silva or if you can’t go that route because of cash, you could go for Son who has decent fixtures in 19 & 20 and stash him on the bench in 21 for the DGW in 22.

Mito, considered the Silva Dcl route but am .1 short as Silva went up last night.Actually considering bringing Jones in for -4 this week for Naughton and next week doing Firmino to Austin and Rlc to Silva. Will play 3-5-2 and rotate.Son will come in for 1 of my mids for the dgw.Thoughts ?

        • Brookyboy says:

Should add that my theory on the -4 for Jones is that he should pay that back easily over the coming weeks.

        • Austin seems kinda of expensive for someone you will dread playing 3 of the next 4 GWs. I am not going to say no to the Jones move though as I am contemplating taking a hit for DDG right now, I am fed up with him getting points week after week for others. smile

Liverpool vs Arsenal tend to be high scoring, so keeping Firmino not the worst thing you can do. LFC scored 7 on Arsenal last season over the 2 fixtures.

        • Brookyboy says:

Yeah i know what you mean about Ddg.My rival has him !!
Interesting stat about Arsenal Liverpool games. How many did Firmino get ? smile

        • 1 goal, not sure on assists, would have to go back and look.
