FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 6

Welcome to FF247 Fantasy Football Team Gameweek 6. We got 3 clean sheets this week. That is, unfortunately, just about the top and bottom of our highlights this week. Yeah ok, Lukaku brought us some points but it’s difficult to celebrate that when he brought almost everybody else the same points too. Likewise with Groß and his assist. We made 2 transfers last week and neither were a success with both Alli and Choupo-Moting coming in and both doing screw all for us. Alli got us a clean sheet bonus point and that was the highlight of our transfers, which says it all really. We scored 53 points. We began in a semi respectable 173k. We ended up in a semi disgraceful 463k! Onwards and upwards and all that then, here’s what we have decided to do this week in an attempt to arrest the slump…

Here’s our team as it looked after last week…

Transfer for GW6 – we have sold Lukaku and bought Aguero
The curse of Kun has struck again. His hatty at Watford last weekend spooked what seems like the majority of FPL managers to suddenly decide the Argentinan is after all quite good and certainly good enough for their FPL teams. Poor old Romelu, what more does he have to do? He has scored in each game bar one for a United team which has matched City’s goal returns. To talk you through our complete rationale would mean us taking you into a dark, murky world of deceit, deception and derision. Instead, please accept the short version…

– Well, first of all the proposal was to keep Lukaku and sell Alonso and Firmino for a bum and Kun – the idea was proposed as such: “Buried Alonso at the back of the garden and low and behold Aguero sprouted up!” This suggestion came from Anti-Alonso in the middle of the night when he knew his audience…. or so he thought.

– Unfortunately for him the suspect charged with originally suggesting we acquired Alonso was awake and chatty and immediately argued against said move. Alonso Lover was then dumped into a wardrobe while appearing to shout, “Willian to Ramsey”.

Anti-Alonso got back to work looking for someone to agree to disposing of Alonso.

– Instead, Dopey arrived from his self-induced coma with his ever informed awareness with the line, “have we got 2 free transfers?”. Quickly rebuffed Dopey returned to… well being dopey and wouldn’t be seen, or heard from again, until the morning.

– There was a muffled cry from the wardrobe… “William to Ramsey?”. Which ended with a thud.

– Having failed to win favour, Anti-Alonso sulked off to sort his MLS side.

– Roughly 2 minutes later and confident that Dopey was asleep and Alonso Lover had been silenced, Anti-Alonso tried again, hoping someone, anyone, had awoken and would be bored into submission with the excuse that “we should do this Kun thing, otherwise the article is boring”. Not wrong there. But still no takers.

– The night continued peacefully, no-one else surfaced but Anti Alonso still grumbled, with something not vaguely printable and implanted more pins in the Alonso doll hanging from the wall.

– The committee slowly reconvened in the morning but quickly descended into insults such as ‘fraud’, ‘sheep’, ‘d*ckhead’, ‘Kun*’ etc. Alonso Lover was released from the wardrobe looking slightly dishevelled. And a little abused. He didn’t mention Ramsey again. The ‘discussion’ continued fairly sensibly without really progressing before wardrobe boy suggested playing the Free Hit chip, loading up on City and Arsenal assets. Dopey, presumably in sympathy, voted with him. Anti-Alonso and Mr Sensible (now awake and new to the story!) quickly voted against before the Mule (likewise) turned up and laughed at the suggestion while forcing wardrobe boy back into his hole where he remains to this day.

It was finally decided by all present that we all wanted Kun but it was a toss up as to whether to sell Kane or Lukaku, or simply decimate the team by losing Alonso and Firmino. It was decided not to decimate, we’d only regret that in the morning and all agreed that Lukaku must go. Strange old world, if only someone had suggested that at the start.

It may still be an odd decision and we may reverse it next week or indeed play a Wildcard to negate the lot. Who knows. The only wonder really is how we’ve got this far and to have still previously posted some decent ranks, especially with the circus as illustrated above…

The team in full
And so this is how we line up ahead of GW6…

Our captain is Aguero
Now after the painful and somewhat exhausting committe meeting to decide to buy Kun, one would assume that skippering the Argentinian would be a formality. No sir. Our friend Dopey reappeared with the suggestion we should captain the misfiring Harry Kane, who plays at West Ham where Spurs never win. To the wardrobe he was sent. Fortunately the rest of the committee voted for the in form Aguero, who plays at home to Woy’s Palace a week after slamming a hatty at Watford.

Is this the secret to winning FPL?
team name ‘ PPTSRN’ and he is in 43 place. This is his first season and since GW1 he has been within the top200. He plays system 5-3-2. Now the secret (?) he has not made a single transfer in or out since starting GWI and has currently 362points. Just look him up!!!

      Milburn says:

That’s actually so annoying when he could be much higher if he was still managing his team. Captained Pogba on his bench last week and got fortunate with Aguero as vice. Not transferring Luiz out will cost him this week.

      Mr Bean says:

Last year, picking the perfect team from the beginning and captaining Kane every week would have left you about 200-300 points short of the leader I think, did the maths on it but forgot the exact answer. Can’t remember the squad exactly but it involves a Kane who missed several matches so who knows, a couple of transfers and good captaincy could have done it

There’s like 5m different teams playing. The sheer volume of teams means that something like the above is bound to happen, nothing more than luck. Unless you see a consistent pattern; I’d ignore it.

    Mr Bean says:

All the talk on big hitters up top is that it gives you more captaincy options:

Last year I had Kane and Lukaku up top for most of the season. I can’t remember the exact fixtures but one week Spurs had Middleborough at home and I captained Kane…he scored 6(12) and Lukaku scored 20. Then a few weeks later Everton had a nice home game and Kane had Stoke…captained Lukaku who scored 6(12) and Kane scored 20.

Does making that decision every week not give you guys nightmares. Instead of 92 points I came out with 64…

      inittowinit says:

How many would you have got with neither?

      • Mr Bean says:

My point was how many i’d have with just one captained all the time…52 from one player, 10-12 from somebody else and i’m in the same position with 3-4m extra to spend.

Having neither Kane nor Lukaku last year would have been brave, especially towards the middle. Not even I could have made a case for that.

Though I did make a case to my flatmates at the end of the season that Kane’s DGW and final fixture were not appealing and he was not worth it…100+ points if you captained him for those 3 games? Don’t listen to me…

        • inittowinit says:

Depends where you (hypothetically) spend it and what the improvements elsewhere score in relation to who they replace score. Bit of an unfathomable domino effect. Sometimes over thinking it all can be worse than just thinking.

        • Rosco77 says:

Thats the fun of the game dude! Where is the fun in Perma-captioning every week! If you don’t have the lows how can you truly appreciate the highs! haha I’m on 5 lows running…its only matter of time till i have a Saturday night thats isn’t shite!! haha

        • Mr Bean says:

Oh I don’t perma captain, would be a lot better off if I did aha.

        • Rosco77 says:

I’ve been super bad at picking my captains this season! Got it wrong more often than not! Still not sure who its going on this week…or if I’m bringing in Kun!! Hows your season going Mr B? Is your team not linked for a reason or are you shy!?

        • Mr Bean says:

I thought it was linked…though all the evidence is against me, will sort it when i’m home from work.

      • chins says:

Uh oh. Init’s gone all philosophical again.

    • 8.2

its like the years i’ve had two keepers, i always gone it wrong…. always.

    • 8.3
      chins says:

      Bean,
I get your point, but over the course of a season my guess is that your implied strategy of following the odds (captaining the most likely to score big) would get you a better result than sticking with the same guy every week regardless of fixtures.

Very entertaining tales of your trials and tribulations with the site team laugh

Am I all set? Quite like the punt on Kun (for Lukaku) but I’m more concerned about Vardy. If he doesn’t start, Ramsey will come in for me, but I’m hoping he will as I fancy he’ll do well against a depleted Liverpool backline…(cheeky differential captain?!)

Very amusing read! Cheers guys… Nice to see I’m not the only one stupid enough to ditch Lukaku 😉

      Rosco77 says:

Hows that WC looking Banjo!? Im still debating my FT… nightmare!!

      • banjomaker says:

Thought I was just about there, then started looking at 4-3-3 options, now I’m massively undecided again! Can’t decide whether it’s better to have Ritchie playing every week, or Kolasinac. I think I’m leaning towards 4-3-3, which is quite scary, as I’ve never done that, especially on a WC! What are you weighing up on the FT front?

        • Rosco77 says:

Either save it or Kun in for kane or Kaku! big decisons!
I’ll throw a curve ball into your WC, have you considered 442? You could go with someone like Hemed as your 3rd striker and the funds you save will allow a lot of good upgrades?

        • banjomaker says:

Why would you do that to me?!! Haha. I quite like the front 3 of Kun, Kane & Morata. If I were to lose one for a 4-4-2 then it would have to be Morata. But if I were to lose Morata then I’d want Hazard, which actually ends up more expensive. I’m gonna forget you said anything and go back to 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 head scratching 😉 I’m also not going to make any suggestions concerning your dilemma, although I really do think Kane is gonna start firing very soon.

        • Rosco77 says:

Haha sorry man, was just thinking you could then bring in Alonso who I think at 7.1 will prove better value than Morata… I’ll shut up now!!

      • Silvers says:

Hey Rosco do you thk this Mbemba lad will keep his place now ??????

        • Rosco77 says:

I’m banned from giving Newcastle based tips Silvers, Init still has a price on my head over Lejuene!!
You never know with Rafa, If fit i can’t see why he would drop him until Dummett returns but he could quite easily bring in Lejuene, Gamez or Manquillo. I think as a 5th defender he’s probably ok but I certainly wouldn’t bring in another 4.0 and presume Mbemba is locked in.
