FPL launch 2017/18 – Rules Changes and Player Price list

Welcome to FPL launch 2017/18 – Rules Changes and Player Price list. And finally we’re back to normality… No more wondering how to fill those days in the office, pretending to be working on that big project but secretly with an FPL tab or ten open at the bottom. We can finally start tinkering again as the game for the 2017/18 has been launched and the player prices along with it. Let the GW1 RMT’s commence in earnest!

Whether you are new to the game or a relative veteran let’s get some of the basics out of the way –

To either register as a new user or simply renew your team you need to click here… FPL 2017/18

If you have played previously then that will simply allow you to re-register. You will be issued with a new ‘FPL ID’ number though – if you usually link your team to your username on FF247 then you will have to update that link here or you will be showing somebody else’s team. Click on the link and then follow the instructions entitled ‘How do I link my ‘display name’ to my fantasy team?’.

New Rules
After two seasons spent trying to figure out what on earth to do with the All Out Attack chip we can finally forget that one as it’s been replaced with the ‘Free Hit’ chip. We won’t labour the point as we are sure it will be discussed in depth below but basically it means that you can change your entire squad for one week and then it will revert to what it was previously the week after that – particularly useful for such occurrences as a blank (ish) GW or indeed a double one. It adds a layer of strategy to the game, one which will be debated long and hard as to when it will be best to use it.

FPL themselves released this article to explain it fully.

New player prices – some of the new players to the Premiership or those who have changed teams that may interest you:

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) – 10.5m
Jermain Defoe (Bournemouth) – 8.0m
Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea) – 6.0m
Sandro Ramirez (Everton) – 7.5m
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 9.0m
Bernardo Silva (Man City) – 8.0m
Romelu Lukaku (Man Utd) – 11.5m

And some selected old favourites:

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) – 12.0m
Eden Hazard (Chelsea) – 10.5m
Seamus Coleman (Everton) – 6.5m
Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – 9.5m
Sergio Aguero (Man City) – 11.5m
Antonio Valencia (Man Utd) – 6.5m
Harry Kane (Spurs) – 12.5m
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea) – 8.5m

You will all have your own views and may spot the glaring bargain that we have missed. So please share your thoughts below on both the new changes to the game (the chips) and also your thoughts on the prices and maybe you’ve even begun to draft your initial squad.

Start posting RMT’s by all means. It’s a long and arduous process so the earlier you start the better! There will be many doing the same so sharing thoughts and ideas on either players, formations or tactics is always welcomed.

For our part we will start posting our pre-season articles on a regular basis now. We will have rundowns on the promoted teams, new signing articles and also coverage of the pre-season games as we build toward GW1 of yet another new season.

My 2nd team.. Im liking this one a bit more (after looking at my first teams opening draws)

    thoughts?

@TheMainMane, Mitro is likely to be sold and Gundogan is very iffy to start right off the bat, not saying he can’t, but he is probably a huge risk to not. So I would consider moving those two for something more reliable, perhaps Mooy for Gundogan? Not sure who starts just yet in that Mitro price range, maybe Hemed from Brighton might, but not sure on that one.

I like the double up on WBA defence looking at those opening fixtures.

Not so sure on Redmond and can’t tell if that other mid is Gundogan? Other than those and waiting to see if anyone else emerges as better options in pre-season I like it on the whole.

Here is my first draft. Aguero don’t seem to be that popular. Seems strange without Kane though. Arsenal players seem expensive to me

      Silvers says:

Hey Smash good start like foster good clean run for Sou Tripper is a good pick if walker goes not sure Ragel a starter MF & fwd line solid two big hitters up front & they have the best fixtures to start on paper not sure I would double up on ManU though good 1st draft 😉

Oh I have put cheek in just hope he can break into Cry side

      • Smash10 says:

Good to see you Silvers. Yeah I think Walker will go to City but will keep an eye on that one. Yeah don’t know if there’s any starters at 4 million. Great point about Double United they did not score many last season did they

Don’t see a problem here. Out of curiosity why Morgan? Is it as a rotation partner for Holgate?

      • Smash10 says:

I have not even looked if that works yet. Morgan or Simpson I think 4.5 for a Leicester defender is decent value is why I have one. Morgan is still captain I think and presume he’s recovered from injury

        • Oh, didn’t realise he was that cheap. Yeah I can see why that might be worth a punt. Just looked GW3 and 4 would be a problem with both, but after that one of them will play a fixture that’s acceptable for several weeks if you do rotate them.

        • Smash10 says:

Yeah I was surprised they were so cheap Morgan and Simpson I think Leicester will be top half. Ah yeah see what you mean there those game weeks would be an issue. And then there’s the boring 4 million defender thing again.

Hey guy’s, can’t believe it’s that time already. Anyway, i have seen a few teams with Aguero popping up and i was wondering if maybe he’s a risk this season?.

    Hello all,

So pleased FF is back, bring on the torment of selecting a team. Getting a headache already! First draft below, grateful for feedback and suggestions.

      Milburn says:

Looks like a solid start mate. At first I was disgusted with Milner’s price but they still managed 12 clean sheets and on penalty duty is certainly an attractive advantage.
Hanley will likely be sold but hopefully a 4mill defender will become apparent over the next month.

      • lewissealy123 says:

Thanks Milburn! How’s your team coming along?

Just so many options with loads I would like to bring in. I thought the same about Milner but now he will get those CS and BPS which could be big.

        • Milburn says:

It’s ok, I have my first draft but not getting worked up about it because I know it’ll change 100 times after each pre season match mate

    • 36.2

@Lewis , if you are going to have Foster and Bego, you might as well look at other options to go with instead of Bego. Personally if I am going to have Foster, I team him up with Myhill his back up or Fabianski. Either way I will put a screenshot of teams who also have other 4.5 keepers and how they rotate with West Brom in particular, I included Bournemouth in there so you can see where they land.

Other than that I think Rosy might not start or Hanley. Loftus-Creek is someone I am also interested in, but will monitor to make sure he definitely starts.

      • lewissealy123 says:

Mito thanks for your comment, great advice. I was looking at Heston rotation but thought 5.0 was a bit much. I have put in fabby as offers better rotation.

I agree with my bench, they were purely gap fillers. So of hoping pre-season unearths some 4.0 gems. I think RLC could do well at Palace, just worry about game time

        How’s your team coming along?
