Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2016-17

Welcome to another edition of Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!! Sneaking in a Bore Off is mighty naughty of me, but as you know, nothing good comes to those who wait. So why wait until the next big break, when I can barge in uninvited now. As usual custom I got those three snarky Amigos back together to answer some relevant FPL questions and a bit of… ehe, let us call them “other” questions. Hopefully the lads can provide you with some insight with some of their answers or at the very least have you raise an eyebrow at a moment of awkwardness. Three big strikers, premium defenders, Jonesy, Ozil’s work rate and Santa’s sexy helper all covered. This could be a moment where I could wish you the best over the Holidays, but that would not be in character and could put in jeopardy my appointment as the Ghost of Christmas Never when I pass. So after that cheerful sentence let’s move onto the article before I say something nice.

Thanks for the article and Merry Christmas to all, and Happy Bday to Innit.
Next time maybe consider not showing each other your answers lol, I think if the three of you didnt know what the others were saying we might get some slightly different views laugh

Awesome, thanks guys, I was unaware that Coutinho could be making an early comeback against Citeh, that’s a nugget of info that’s welcome.

    Merry Christmas all.

Hey guys, how’s it going? Been crazy busy this week prepping for the holidays but wanted to wish everyone a happy Christmas and say thank you for another awesome year of advice and banter on FF247. Best FPL community on the web without a doubt!! I’ll be back tomorrow to pour through the articles and get ready for Boxing Day. Hope you all have a wonderful time with your families and friends, cheers from Vermont, USA! smile

What a jolly a good read before tomorrow’s festivities!
Many thanks guys, your wise words have helped make my mind up on a few pertinent issues!
Let’s hope you’ve all been good this year and Father Christmas brings you all green arrows and that he brings Waxys a Wayne Rooney Hatrick because even though he hasn’t brought him into his team he did tell us…

As we are almost at the half way stage and it also feels like a good time to do so I just wanted to say thanks to a few people.

Cookie, Kop, Floydeth and Mito. It’s a pleasure to work with you all on a daily basis to keep the FF247 cogs turning. Take a moment to reflect on this – we manage to post 6 /7 articles a week for 38 weeks straight and never miss one. Ever. And that’s before we do the other stuff that nobody sees and then the summer stuff in the ‘break’! Enough said.

GP, your work is immense – Community Team, Tips, Capos, Fixtures, twitter duties, site admin, site posts, everything really… You’re undoubtedly the unsung hero of the operation.

Matt does Facebook for us and is also a site regular on a daily basis. FB is a thankless task really but a necessity. Thanks Matt!

Guy. The machine! Guy does (did, maybe!) cover MLS for us for 2 seasons. Probably even more of a thankless task than FB but Guy now does Fixtures weekly which is a biggie in terms of research as I know well. And also fills in at the drop off a hat on anything we need, which is priceless in itself. We are lucky to have such a talented and dedicated writer on the team.

Elle looks after our leagues and does a lot on that behind the scenes which isn’t seen.

A special mention for Swirly with his help on the new site this year, we tasked him with a few small jobs and he ended up spending hours and hours on it all, my apologies for that! Welcome to Rich’s world 😉 He has also stepped up to do the Tips article on a regular basis now too. Thanks mate and sorry!

The Capo Team! Many thanks to the following for being there consistently for us and providing some wonderful Captain Articles every week –

    Bryan Munich
    Calvin Clyne
    Chins
    Jamesimmo
    Jeet
    Lawdogg
    Tekkers

And a special mention for the Special Teams guys! Andy, DMC and Pancho regularly step up when the time is right to do ad-hoc articles and it is always appreciated.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten somebody, I apologise profusely to whoever it is!

As ever though I am always most thankful to those who simply post on here on a daily basis and keep the site ticking over in the comments section. I don’t regularly check site views, I don’t check site page clicks. I check the comments and they tell us all we need to know really. Without those we wouldn’t have the motivation to continue as we do. That’s the heartbeat of what we do and why we do it – the community.

I wish you ALL a Happy Christmas and a massive thank you for making FF247 what it is, no matter how big or small a contribution you make, it’s all appreciated.

      #cheers

      Thanks guys!
I’m sure I’m not alone in saying you guys quite literally brighten my day so often throughout the year.
Here’s to you all, may you all have a fantastic day tomorrow wherever and whatever you’re doing ….and here’s to Boxing Day when we all will hopefully get the gift we all deserve… it’s green and pointy! God bless us… everyone!

The thanks should be from me, to be honest. As a fantasy manager, this site is invaluable, however it also regularly brightens up my day thanks to the fantastic bunch of people on here. To have been given the opportunity to write for it and help out on other bits and bobs has been a genuine honour – it’s something I’ve really enjoyed and will continue to. Here’s to a fantastic 2017!

      Merry Christmas to you all!

Init – especial words those. It’s nice to read them and even better to belong in here. It’s really incredible the range of this community which is no longer just an FPL one.
We get advise for PowerPoint features, cocktail recepies, automotive purchase advise, political opinions, economics, even babycare advise, ufff everything! What’s next, monkey real life experience? Oh wait…
Many thx for all you guys do and for my fellow community participants for your (our) daily comments and here’s to an even better 2017!

Thanks for the kind words, Adam. Still feels kind of crazy that I’ve somehow wormed my way into the mix here, but I’m very glad to be here. I’ve learned a lot in my time here too. Euros single space between sentences, they spell things completely differently, and they make fun of Scots and sheep like we make fun of Canadians and maple syrup. These are all things that will put me at the head of applying for UK work visas when America collapses under the Great Cheetoh.
