Grab, Avoid or Bore Off! – Fantasy Premier League 2017-18

The International break is here and it is of course time for another edition of Bore Off! This time we have given the 3 Amigos a break and found their possible replacements in the near future. 😉 Bry is welcomed in, many of you know him from his other work on the site or perhaps you have seen him busking on the tube in Japan. Banjo also joins us, luckily for him we have only asked him to answer questions and not make the coffee. However, I would still keep my distance as he answers, for your own safety. Last and least (according to FPL) is Smash, who we have asked as a form of therapy for him. Hey, let us get on with it and see what The Last SamuBry, Wilshere x8 and Hulk Smash have to say about their seasons so far and what is to come.

Fabian Delph and Sergio Aguero are both hopeful of a swift return to action and could even be fit for Manchester City’s Premier League game against Stoke City next Saturday.

    World cup without Messi, discuss:

I don’t think any fan of football could think that’s a good thing. Although it would be quite funny. You’d have to feel for New Zealand if they end up having to play the Argies in a playoff.

Boo hoo. Should have qualified if they deserved to be there. Matters not though as Jake Livermore and Jesse Lingard will be laugh

      DMC says:

Yeah it would be a shame to not see him in a World Cup. I’m not sure if Sampaoli knows what is doing there. They were 0-0 and he kept Dybala and Icardi on the bench with this guy that I never eard off before playing as central striker… They have a though game next at Ecuador and I do fear for them. It would be odd as they were the runners-up last time out.

If it were one or the other for Chelsea attacking cover would you pick Hazard or Morata? Obviously assuming both are fit.

      inittowinit says:

Probably Hazard actually thinking about it. Just think he will be the busier overall of the 2 what with assists and pens etc added into his locker. Morata may ‘just’ score the goals. Think Haz will top him easily on BPS too.

Went back to Wazzalam’s table to check Key Passes on Morata and he very low on them.

I’ll create a Hot Comment slot for that table soon actually as it’s mightily handy to have for quick reference. We can update it weekly whenever he does too.

      • banjomaker says:

Wazza’s table is gold. Does he plan on keeping that updated for us?!

Yea I’m thinking Hazard could be on the cusp of going crazy. He often has a slow start, the fixtures are mouthwatering, and if Morata is out for a game or two he could be the one to step up with the goals.

My problem would be prioritising City or Chelsea attacking cover. Do I simply do Morata to Jesus this week? Or target the Chelsea v Palace match and do Morata & Mkhi to Vardy & Hazard (for a hit), and then Laca to Jesus the following week?

        • inittowinit says:

I think he does. He’s not said but if we HC it then it may force his hand! He’s done it for 2 or 3 weeks now so I imagine so.

As for the other I’ll just go get my crystal ball 😉

        • banjomaker says:

Yea get the hot comment on it.

I think Jesus could screw with those ex-Kun owners, who’ve spent the extra funds. As I’m nearly doing! I’m trying to think of a plan for when Kun’s back again. But nothing’s jumping out at me.

        • inittowinit says:

I think you just have to play what’s in front of you right now. Agree totally on Kun but you can’t hold those funds back indefinitely. Just feel your own ribs and tell me he’s coming back next week? I doubt it too. Never done it (touch wood) but my brother in law did on a kids slide on holiday with us in May (TOO funny, mustn’t laugh smile ) and he’s still struggling now.

Invest it and take what Hazard can give in the meantime. By the time he’s actually back other stuff will have changed anyway.

First time ive looked at that table. Cheers wazza, and of course yoy Adam. Good stuff

      DMC says:

I don’t know mate. Hazard is proven and is the magician there; Morata is the new guy that has hit the ground running, a bit like Costa did on his debut season. They both could be gold and I don’t actually see that many points separating them come May. Whether Hazard can rack up the points without a recognized center forward wandering around in there is a different matter though, so it’s a wait and see for me. If I was on a WC it could be different but on the other hand if that was the case I would also be looking at Sanchez who has just scored Chile’s winner last night.

      • banjomaker says:

Hey DMC. You’re probably right, in that we should wait to see a bit of form before jumping on board with Hazard. Sanchez obviously has the quality to explode, but I’m just not convinced he’ll come close to last season given Laca playing up top.

        • DMC says:

Well, last season he did in fact very well – was is best ever – but the other two before that are very good too (especially the debut season) and he wasn’t playing upfront in those so I’m not that convinced that him playing wide is a turn off. He has two assist in a row now, unlike Eden.

WEEKLY KEY STATS TABLE has been added in the HOT COMMENTS bit (above normal comments).

Courtesy of and thanks to Wazzalam.

If it’s kept updated weekly then it could be invaluable.

Wazza let us know if –

    A. It will be

    and

    B. If it is the same link each time or needs altering, assuming it won’t.
