Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

Grab, Avoid or Bore Off!

A bore off special edition you say? Yeah, we think we can manage that. So we went ahead and rounded up our 3 pistoleros and asked them to answer 5 important questions that are bugging many a manager. With so much time to tinker, we thought it important to address some of the concerns we have heard in our chat community. No! Not the monkey pictures, as we have grown quite fond of them to be honest. But DGW concerns for the upcoming week and a future one. Also addressing what to do with 2 South American stars and last but not least, maybe a tip or two on how to crawl back into your mini league race. So although we have named it the usual grab, avoid or bore off, it is really just a façade for a lot of waffling with a hint of relevant information.

So much for only 5 questions! Apparently our three Amigos can’t play serious just this one time, so we had to add a couple of questions for them to have a giggle. So per request here are five more so our three writers can be, well…themselves.

    Morning all!
2FT and next to nothing in the bank.
Presuming Rose wants to play for Jamaica and his injury was convenient rather than genuine 😉 … I plan to ditch Bellerin/Baird or Sanchez or two.
Mata and Terry for Sanchez and Bellerin? Unfortunately 0,1 short of ditching Baird for Terry but could do McShane. Think Baird will play again (with Dawson out too) or is Brunt back to kick him out? Noticed he played in midfield though..
Anyway, thoughts appreciated..obviously won’t pull the trigger till after the internationals but there’s nothing like early planning! laugh

    Good afternoon gentlemen.
I am getting a bit bored of ths international break.
Soooooo, I am going with some mates to Dublin for a long weekend. Fri 3rd to Tues 7th.
Can anyone recommend me where is good to go to? Love live music, comedy, theatre, food and drink.
We have a car so any good parts of the surrounding towns and countryside to visit, go walking, nice pubs etc.
    Many thanks Horse

      Evening Horse,

I’ll get the bad news out of the way…the pubs & restaurants won’t be open in Ireland next Friday as it’s Good Friday (don’t ask!!), although you’ll be able to get a drink in your hotel.

The main tourist trap in Dublin is Temple Bar, do yourself a favour and stay out of the place, it’s a kip and overpriced even by Dublin standards. Regarding live music you could check what’s on in Whelan’s, The Olympia, Vicar St or The Workmans Club. There are quite a few decent pubs in and around Georges St.

Have ye booked a hotel in Dublin for the 4 nights? If not ye could head to either Cork or Galway for a night, both are about 2 1/2 hrs away but well worth the trip.

      • Horse says:

        Cheers Kop,

Thanks for the advice. We will avoid Temple Bar. Don’t like tourist traps
Is Georges St. a good place to stagger pub to pub?
No hotels for us. We are going to be staying at a mate’s house on the outskirts of Dublin, Wicklow I think. He’s Irish and lives in Portsmouth but he’s going to see relatives so we have to amuse ourselves.

Probably won’t go to Cork or Galway this time as we have to drive up from Portsmouth to Holyhead get the car ferry and do the reverse journey a few days later.

Is it just Good Friday that the bars are shut? Saturday and Sunday ok?

Finally, where do they serve a really good pint of Guinness?

If you ever need a tourist info on Pompey or the Isle of Wight don’t hesitate smile

          Morning Horse,

Yes it’s business as usual on Saturday on Sunday, most folk will make up for the fact that the pubs are closed on Friday.

Within a 5-10 minute radius of Georges St there are quite a number of good pubs which you can stagger between. I don’t drink Guinness myself but I’ve been told that they do a good pint in The Stags Head which isn’t far from Georges St.

Wicklow is a great spot, you’ll be able to walk off your hangovers.

          Afternoon Kop.

Much appreciated. I am really looking forward to it.

    Regarding Dublin…..
For a top afternoon/night out and not a tourist in sight.
Jump on the Dart (train) and at the end of the Line is Bray (18mins away) from O’Connell Street, Dublin.
Proper priced beer plus some lovely Ladies too……well they drop their panties for a few Euro’s …….about 55 for the works.

I need some suggestions here. I’ve dropped from 20k to 100k during the last 4-5 weeks. So need some advice on my team.
And which goalkeeper should I go for? I’ve forster and a non-playing keeper.
0.4 in the bank and 1FT.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
