Welcome to Live Match Chat Gameweek 28 FPL News: Or at least what there is left of it! If ever there was a definition of a ‘blank’ game-week then maybe this is it. There are just 4 games this week. And just two of the current top seven feature. That’s not to say that the weekend if irrelevant of course, as the rubbish teams can still score you some points, but in all honesty if you can still get excited about this lot then we doff our caps to you as a hardcore fantasy manager. As for the action itself then there are three games at 3pm on Saturday – Bournemouth will be looking to turn their Old Trafford resilience into something more tangible, and arrest their current slide, with what would be their first victory in 2017 as they welcome West Ham. With Man Utd winning the Milk Cup last week 7th place now represents a chance to qualify for the Europa thing and the two prime candidates face off this week to see who wants it least. Actually Pulis would probably see it as a feather in his cap whereas Koeman is probably more aware of it’s pitfalls. Now we aren’t suggesting that Everton would ever throw a game… but they probably should! The third game is a relegation battle as Hull face Swansea. Defeat for Hull won’t necessarily seal their fate but it will go a long way to doing so. We close out on Sunday with just the one fixture which sees Liverpool hosting Burnley. The visitors don’t often visit anywhere well. We don’t mean that they turn up late, get drunk and are surly and rude. Quite the contrary, in fact. They turn up on time, are polite and respectful and usually bend over obligingly when asked. If the real Liverpool turn up then they may well fill their boots in this one.

Saturday 11th March
3:00pm
Bournemouth vs West Ham
Everton vs West Brom
Hull vs Swansea

Sunday 12th March
4:00pm
Liverpool vs Burnley

As an added bonus, and as the main reason why there are so few PL games this weekend, the FA Cup Quarter Finals take place this weekend and may be worth keeping an eye on as they will dictate further DGW scenarios depending on who progresses. Just so that you are aware, they look like this –

Saturday 11th March
12:15pm
Middlesbrough vs Man City

5:30pm
Arsenal vs Lincoln

Sunday 12th March
2:00pm
Spurs vs Millwall

Monday 13th March
7:45pm
Chelsea vs Man United

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck to absolutely everyone for GW28 from all at FF247!

With city and arsenal winning their fa cup games.. gw34 dgw is most likely out of the picture. It will be a random GW now. This makes it difficult to plan. Any idea when these games will be scheduled?

Can anyone else relate to this?

I’m having what can only be described as the FPL season from hell. For a bit of context, I’m usually a half-decent fantasy player, nothing spectacular by any means, but solid enough to compete in my mini-leagues. My recent season history reads:

    2012/13: 27,447
    2013/14: 41,524
    2014/15: 43,807
    2015/16: 62,992

I was quite proud of that consistency, but it’s safe to say that has been shattered this year, as my rank is currently 1,042,571. I was down at 1.3m – a run of 10 consecutive red arrows – until I triple-captained Aguero last week and rose a bit. Funny thing is, I’ve done nothing different this year – it just seems that literally every single decision I’ve made has been the wrong one. I’ve had all the right players at the wrong times, and all the 50/50 decisions I’ve made, where option A and option B are equally appealing but you end up having to plump for one of them, have been wrong, or at least that’s how it feels.

What makes it worse is that I’ve started writing about FPL this year, so you can imagine how much my mates are loving my demise! Anyway, enough self pity. What I want to know is, have any of you guys experienced a similar season where your performance has been so out of kilter compared with your usual showing? Whether it’s an exceptional season or a terrible one. In all likelihood, I could finish a million places below my usual overall rank, which, if nothing else, is statistically unusual considering that I haven’t thrown in the towel at any point.

We’ve all been there one time or another
      Feel your pain bro,
One of my lowest points this season was after cruising in the top 5k
At the start of the season I decided to follow a couple of bandwagons, taking silly hits chasing the previous weeks must haves
      Before I realised It I’d dropped to 200k, 300k, ,400k…
Selling Alonso the week before hits mega haul of of 20 was the
      Wake up call I needed.
Decided to just chill a little and not over think things too much..
Started climbing the ranks again with a team I’m happy with.
      Good luck.

      Hi Mastermind.

      Nope 😉

Haha, not to that extent anyway! I do know what you are saying though. Probably just one of those things and you are just lucking out big time. One thing I would consider though, given what you said about writing about FPL, is whether you are now looking into stuff too much. From a personal point of view there has been a clear correlation between my FPL performance and beginning to write about it and being involved in the site here – it’s getting worse every season! That’s probably not the best advert for FF247 but it’s a fact! Previous to my involvement I used to just scan a few sites and make my own decision regardless. Being heavily involved has meant that I absorb more info and I’m probably influenced by it whether I like it or not. Crowd theory and all that, conscious or not. I guess that works both ways though – I’ll happily say that I wouldn’t have even considered a hit for King this week had I not seen it suggested on the site by a few people in the comments. I can probably cite 5 other instances when I wish I hadn’t seen a comment and considered it and actually done it though!

      • Mastermind FC says:

Strangely, I’ve probably spent less time ‘thinking’ about my own team this year because I’ve put more thought into giving good advice to others. What’s more, I tend to ignore my own advice! I recommended King as a differential captain choice this week, yet I refused to even bring him into my own team. Clearly I don’t trust myself :straight:

      Interesting comments!
Globally, I struggle to understand which part of my performance is due to my “quality” as a FPL manager, and which part is pure luck.

For instance, it took some talent to select King this week (somebody not deeply involved in the game would have thought of it), but you could have made a similar case for other players (Lanzini or Olson, if I look at my team) as well. In reality, due to team compositions, random turn of events in the game and player form, only King paid off. But could that really be forseen?
My feeling is that we tend to overestimate our powers as FPL managers. All we can do is take educated bets, but bet they are!

And in your case Mastermind, it looks as if luck definitely played against you. If you can look back at your decisions, and still understand why it made sense at the time, well you just have been damned unlucky!
And hopefully that will stop soon!
(The vivious circle part can also be partially explained by yourteam value limiting your options after a while, and probably more importantly by a pressure to make clever moves in order to gain back some ground)

      • Mastermind FC says:

Good points – it’s possible that I’ve deceived myself into believing I’m a ‘good’ FPL manager, when in reality, I’ve been lucky the last four seasons haha.

Having said that, there are certain ‘super’ FPL managers that do extremely well every season. The season history of the number 1 ranked Ville Ronka is something else.

    Evening chaps,

Not a great week for me but never thought it was going to be, currently on 37 with Mane to play.
I need to ship out Foster. Who’s the best replacement out of:

    1. Robles
    And
    2. Mignolet
As both have decent fixturesized from here on in or is there someone I’ve missed?
    Thanks

      1. Robles

      • db says:

Haha yeh I know but was just looking at the fixtures ahead, im smashing my ml and will win it unless something ridiculous happens if that makes a difference!

        • db says:

I also have jakupovic who faces West ham and then Middlesborough in gws 30 and 31

        • Bigpopz says:

          Db

You’ll defo lose ur ML with Mings between the sticks..lol
Stick with Jaku matey, at least untill after the Boro’ game
          then maybe bring in Robles.

      Andy says:

I’d be more willing to blow that FT on bringing back one of the big three mids this week in Sanchez/Hazard/Alli rather than target changing the GK around, I’d rather just keep on playing Jakupovic for now and hope that he can build up those save points with maybe getting the occasional CS, I’d really wait until I played the final WC before changing the GK position around now.

      • db says:

        Thanks Andy,
Yeh I know what your saying I’ve hardly changed gk this season but just dont fancy jakupovic away to Liverpool nor do I fancy Foster at home to the Arse. In fact West Broms remaining fixtures are pretty bad, maybe I should wait and see if I need to transfer in the cheapest gk I can find to facilitate other moves 😉

Yeh I know your right but look at all the green fixtures 😉

      • Gear says:

I hear what you are saying. If you look at their fixtures you think they’ve got to be able to pick up a few clean sheets.

I’m going to throw a pool defender in at some point soon.
