New FPL Transfers Everton Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane

Hello and welcome to New FPL Transfers Everton Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane. Having covered Everton’s attacking transfers in the previous article we now make our way back to the defence and look at new keeper Jordan Pickford and central defender Michael Keane. Both are young (Pickfrd is 23, Keane 24) and Koeman will hope that both will serve the club for seasons to come – well, at least until the manager has hopped off to Barcelona anyway. It’s the trendy thing to say, but I make no apologies for repeating myself – ignore Everton until GW6 (unless you fancy a GW1 punt home to Burnley) – GW2-GW6 fixtures read Man City (a), Chelsea (a), Spurs (h), Man Utd (a). It’s ugly folks, but it changes for the better from GW6, which gives us time to assess and see if for example if Keane can establish himself as a regular starter alongside Ashley Williams or Phil Jagielka or if maybe Koeman plays all 3. Anyway, that’s all for the future, let’s take a quick look at Pickers and Keano.

Jordan Pickford
Goalkeeper
FPL Price 5.0mln

[/three_fifth]Pickford is of course well known to most FPL managers after his heroic season at Sunderland last season despite the Black Cats’ unsuccessful fight against relegation. There weren’t many clean sheets last term but Pickford impressed with his never-say-attitude and endless saves which contributed to decent returns for those managers who owned him. It was a busy summer for the young keeper who represented England U21s at the Euros as well as becoming England’s most expensive keeper when he sealed a £30mln move to the blue half of Merseyside. Pickford will be immediately installed as Koeman’s first choice keeper and is heavily tipped to become England’s no.1 sooner rather than later also. Pickford is a traditional northerner – tough, resolute and loves a battle, highlighted by the words of Sunderland’s goalkeeping coach Adrian Tucker: ‘I remember I went to Yeovil to do a scouting report on him. I was working for England Under-20s at the time and Jordan was playing for Bradford. The game was only five minutes in when a cross came in and he got clattered by one of Yeovil’s strikers. He got up straight away, shook it off and did not show he was hurt. I thought to myself, ‘You’ll do for me, son’.

Michael Keane
Defender
FPL Price 5.5mln

[/three_fifth]Keane signed for the Blues in a deal worth £25mln, arriving from Burnley where he spent two season after being released by Man United in 2015. The defender was a shining light at the back for Burnley last term, impressing many which resulted in him gaining two England caps. The Blues are reported to have fended off competition from several other clubs in purchasing Keane and the player identifies the manager himself as a big reason why he chose Everton: ‘the manager was a big factor in me coming to the club. He played in my position when he was a world-class player for a great Barcelona side and a great Dutch side and the style of football he likes to play will suit me, I believe. I watched a lot of Everton last season and I believe I really suit how the team likes to play. I feel like this is a great place to come and continue my development as a player. He’s convinced me that he can still improve me in certain areas of my game.’ Nothing like getting on the right side of the boss from day 1. Anyway you know the form, watch the first few fixtures, see how he settles in etc etc etc. Keane isn’t cheap at 5.5mln, especially as he only scored 7 goals in 100 games for Burnley, I feel he may just be a tad over priced at 5.5mln to be a value pick in FPL terms – Pickford is cheaper at 5.0mln as is Jagielka, while Mason Holgate and Jonjoe Kenny are even cheaper at 4.5mln, one of whom will probably deputise for the injured Seamus Coleman until the Irishman returns.

Thoughts on my latest draft? Fabregas/Willian does save a million so I can tidy up the defence. No doubt it will change a million times. I like Rooney but when ever I compare his fixtures to Gayles there is only one real winner. Not sure where Coutinho will play I was not a fan when he dropped a bit deeper like end of last season

Morning everyone!! How’s everyone’s teams coming along? Mine is still on Auto-Complete and will probably stay that way for another few days. I have some questions to run by you all though.

    1. I see nearly every team include Lukaku up top. I can see the obvious pros, his fixtures and all that but has no one got any doubt on him failing and doing nothing? This is what Lukaku always does, he makes us all believe he is a must have and then he goes and blanks for weeks until we get fed up and sell him, when he then goes and gets a scoring run to piss us all off!!

    2. If Liverpool do sign Andrew Robertson at LB, do people think Milner will lose his starting place? Klopp seems to really admire/ like Milner so do people think he will just change the formation to ensure Milner stays on the team? that way Milner could become a decent OOP at 6.5.

    3. What sort of formation is everyone looking at? Go all out in midfield with 3-5-2 or go with 3 solid attacks with 3-4-3?

      Hi Matt 3-5-2 ?

That was my initial thoughts about Lukaku. However that is a pretty soft start he has. For me it’s fear that he explodes early.

Liverpool will sign a LB I’m pretty sure about that. If he does end up in midfield he will be a decent buy. However that is congested. I think he will play more often than not but he’s also not cheap.

3-4-3 I’m struggling with the midfielders. I’m struggling picking 4 let alone 5

      • Matt says:

Yeah that’s what the other half of my brain is telling me! Haha

I think Klopp will try and fit Milner in there somehow but like you say that midfield is already very packed unless he is going to swap to a 3 at the back or something so he can fit in more midfielders.

Haha I think you have it mostly sorted like I was saying on your post above apart from Ramsey you have a decent midfield.

        • Smash10 says:

Yeah can’t really see Klopp playing 3 at the back. Can’t see many obvious wing backs. Klopp seems to love his midfielders which is prob why he’s not signed a striker

        • Matt says:

Yeah he definitely loves his midfielders! I still think he needs to sign one but I think he’s pushing to sign Naby Kieta more than anyone but I would probably agree with that move as we don’t have an out and out DM

        • Smash10 says:

I think Aubameyang would be a great signing but I’m hoping he comes to Chelsea

        • Matt says:

He would be an amazing signing but I doubt FSG will give the money to try and sign him!

Interesting I’ve just checked the game 3 5 2 could be the way to go.

Hey Matt how are we mate , you had a good break
Yes Luk is Luk but do you really what to start without him , with Utd fixtures
Yes I thk Millers place could be under threat if Rob joins not sure where he would fit into MF
I thk 3/4/3 but one of those no more than 8.5m there are enough around that mark to swap & change depending on fixtures
Carry on tinkering mate not easy 😉

      • Matt says:

Hey Silvers, decent break now how has your summer been?

Yeah those are the thoughts I am having now as for the formation I’ll figure that out when I start doing my team haha

@dcunite, I feel that West Brom has better rotating partners than Bournemouth for that same price. I’ll list some down at the bottom who I believe also have 4.5 keepers, will also include The Cherries in there so you can compare them to the others. The Burnley and Toon rotation works ok, you probably get 10 home fixtures in the first 10 even if there is a tough one or two in there.

Rest looks fine to me for now.
