Putin must be delighted at the thought of Europe’s finest taking over Moscow on Sunday. But it is what it is and the stadium will be covered in red and blue as France take on Croatia in the World Cup Final. These two have only met once before in the World Cup, in 1998, when the French triumphed 2-1 in the semi-final on the way to winning the trophy for the first and, to date, only time.
Croatia have never beaten France in their only previous five meetings, losing three and drawing the last two.

The 3rd/4th place play off sees England meet Belgium – a match dominated by Premier League involvement, unless of course Belgium make mass changes, which they may well do. The two have met three times previously in World Cup competition – in 1954 when the teams drew 4-4 in what must have been a tremendous game, in 1990 when David Platt’s last gasp goal saw England progress to the quarter-finals and of course in the group stages earlier in the tournament when both sides played their reserves in a 1-0 Belgium victory.

We will see the line-ups pre-deadline for the 3rd/4th place off match so maybe it’s best to wait to see which players are selected before making any transfers. It’s also worth noting that in the previous four World Cup tournaments there has been 17 goals in the 3rd/4th place play off compared to just 8 goals in the last four finals.

We are again allowed five free transfers and can now select a maximum of eight players from any one team.

This’d be a very interesting move given his set piece ability. Shame he doesn’t bring VAR with him though.

Is Felipe Anderson any good? I don’t follow Italian football

Can’t say I do either, Italian teams only come onto my radar in CL and then only briefly. Stats say 25 goals in 137 for Lazio so about 1 in 5.5 which is fairly bloody consistent to be fair to him. For a mid.

      • secretzorro says:

Add his assists and he has 50 odd in 137, which is bloody good really for a winger. I’m thinking he might enjoy the Prem, Hammers are seriously investing this summer, Goldilocks could be coming over all orgasmic if this keeps up.

I have a feeling it’s all going to end in tears for West Ham somehow.

        • hammerfan_lm says:

erm, im fighting the West Ham corner. It will be different this season. No more boring Moyes. We have Pellegrini in charge, and a decent team taking shape. Some decent signings so far, and more to come. Anderson will feed Arnie and the goals will fly in. If only I could pick more than 3 Hammers!!!

        • So far it is looking good for your boys, remains to be seen if they blend well. So which 3 then?

        • hammerfan_lm says:

So far only Arnie and Masuaku…lol…. but Masuaku may be removed. Might bring in Anderson though.

If he gets a nice price I’ll be interested for sure. Stats above speak for themselves really but there was someone on TS earlier as a guest (can’t remember now, usually a presenter, Hammers fan) and he has a cousin who’s a Lazio season ticket holder and apparently he was singing his praises and saying he was his favourite player for the last few seasons. All sounds promising. Let’s hope for a 6.5 or less on the newbie scale. Newbie with rep usually comes at 7.5 though.

        • Dear Lord, thought you were going to name 5 or 6 guys. smile

          So not interested in Yarmolenko?

        • Kop Warrior says:

West Ham have a horrid start to the season.

        • Just seen that, never trust a Hammers fan. 😉

        • hammerfan_lm says:

          Always trust a hammers fan!!!
          Yarmolenko is also another possibility.
Just a case of trying to figure out who to have, him, Anderson or Shaqiri.
          Yarmolenko is 7m.
My midfield at moment is Mili/Salah/Lingard/Cork/Masuaku.
          Maybe- Yarm/Salah/Lingard/Cork/5.0m (Kenedy – maybe)

Unless Anderson is the same. still time to tinker though.

        • Kop Warrior says:

I wouldn’t consider Shaqiri. He’s unlikely to be a regular starter.

        • Every team needs a looker.

Wild card and BB to be played.
    Any bright ideas?

So as I’ve now completly lost interest in the WC and seeing as I’m new here, what kind of articles can I expect to see here FPL wise. Will there be pre season guides etc.. I’m imagining there’s a site team?

    • 12.1

@AK, there is usually a Fixtures, Captaincy, Tips (player) and Predicted line-ups with team news articles building up to every GW. They are usually in that order. Obviously there will be some ad hoc articles as we go along, in particular in International breaks and some before the season starts that are not part of the usual weekly stuff. There are a couple of people on here that post stuff that we will highlight because it has info in there that we deem useful for everyone and it will be in the hot topic section so you can go back and read it in case you missed it.

      • MLexpertS says:

Will the MLS content here be maintained after FPL starts? I used to have a successful, long-standing blog which regrettably succumbed to a lack of interest after 2 weeks. Am happy to contribute.

        • MLS will go as normal. Next week the first part of the season will finish and everything will be restarted from 0. That includes the FF247 classic league which is open for everyone to join. We are planning to open a H2H one. As the number of participants is limited to 30 it will be by invitations only for the regular readers of this site. That can only happen once round 21 is over and we are able to create a new league.

      • AK47 says:

Lovely, I look forward to it. I’ll start tinkering next week me thinks
