  • Team news from the Gunners rules out Mkhitaryan but he should return to full training next week and Holding and Welbeck remain out.
  • Emery thinks Ozil could be ok to help them again or leave the club, whatever comes first.
  • Unai could shift again to a back 4 or simply keep the back 3 and have Monreal come in at LCB. Whatever he does, he needs to remove Mustafi from the starting XI, I have.
  • Lacazette and Aubameyang haven’t often teamed up against top sides with the Frenchman usually starting from the bench. But dropping him could mean starting either Ramsey who Emery doesn’t want at the club or Ozil who Unai doesn’t want at the club.
  • Give Cech a start versus his old club and his final game versus them? Listen, I love my grandpa, I still would not start him if I was manager, so I doubt Emery starts granpappy.

  • Howe on Wilson “He’s been on the grass once this week and we will make a very late call on him.” also adding “It’s difficult to know because we still have a training session today. You have to be very careful with hamstring injuries.”
  • The Cherries have only won 7 points since the start of November, so if Wilson can go, he probably will. A start from the bench is also possible.
  • Apart from Francis and Lewis Cook’s long term injuries, Howe has no fresh injury concerns.
  • Solanke is still not ready, but is getting closer.

  • Colombian winger Jose Izquierdo is still absent due to a recurrence of knee trouble.
  • Yves Bissouma missed the Liverpool game due to a hip injury. Should he train today he has a chance of being involved on Saturday.
  • Florin Andone could very well get the nod over Glenn Murray up top as his pace will allow Brighton to counter attack.

  • Burnley are looking back to their old selves. The Clarets reached the half-way point of the season in relegation trouble with just three Premier League wins to their name. They have since doubled that tally and climbed to 15th place. Dyche “I think we’ve got back to that, so in a tight game or one that isn’t going as fluidly as we hoped from our point of view, we’ve got that resilience, that energy and that will and demand, and all the qualities we’ve shown many, many times, to give us a platform to get points, win a game or whatever we need to do”. “I think we have shown a strong view of coming back to that in the last four performances.”
  • Phil Bardsley and Matt Lowton are nursing knocks but Dyche hopes one or both to be fit, while Robbie Brady sits out the last game of his three-match ban and Nick Pope is not expected to be involved. Lennon is still injured.
  • The Clarets still have injury concerns for the trip to Vicarage Road with winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson facing a late fitness test.

  • Colin on injuries, “I would like to tell you but I’m not 100% sure about anything at the minute. There’s three lads having fitness tests, I know that.”
  • Colin did confirm that Sean Morrison is a major doubt, “He had a procedure on Monday, I’ve had the physio on the phone just now. I don’t think (Morrison will play tomorrow), but if there’s any doubt I won’t play him anyway. We can’t gamble on anyone.”
  • The other players likely to be having fitness tests are Victor Camarasa and Callum Paterson both of whom were not 100% against Huddersfield.
  • However, it sounds like Camarasa should be ok,” Paterson and Victor were nowhere near fit [against Huddersfield]. On Monday morning, he was like a young pup again, Victor.”
  • Cardiff confirmed this morning that Oumar Niasse has joined on loan until the end of the season with Colin confirming that they are ‘optimistic’ about bringing Emiliano Sala in from Nantes.
  • Unfortunately Colin wasn’t asked to give his opinion on Brexit!!

  • The Blues are looking to solidify their top four spot tomorrow as a win would take them nine points above Arsenal.
  • Gonzalo Higuain is close to joining the Blues on loan. Sarri “I know nothing about the market. I don’t call her every evening, otherwise I spend my energy on the market, it is better to spend mental energy on the pitch”.
  • On Morata “I don’t know if he will play, he is training with us of course. It is normal. It is a difficult moment”.
  • On Hudson-Odoi “I don’t want to talk with him about something that I cannot solve. So I am very happy with him. One month ago we worked with him for the defensive phase and he improved immediately. Now we are working with him with movement off the ball. He is improving a lot”.
  • Meanwhile there was some team news. Sarri said “At the moment we have out only Loftus-Cheek, with his back.” Everyone else is basically fit.

  • 39-year-old Julian Speroni will make his first competitive appearance between the sticks since December 2017.
  • Papa Sourae is the only other player expected to be unavailable.

  • Phil Jagielka has been ruled out of the trip to the south coast. Not that it really matters as he’s played a total of 53mins in the league this season.
  • Silva discussed Richarlison’s position, “My role as a manager is to put the best XI on the pitch, the best XI for the match. Richarlison can play out wide and as a striker. I know every three or four matches he doesn’t score the conversation will come again. He’s a possibility to play for us as a striker. Cenk and Dominic also.” Read what you will into that!
  • Should Silva decide that Richarlison is not a striker for this game expect Calvert-Lewin to start up top with the Brazilian playing from the left.
  • Silva confirmed that Cardiff have strong interest in Oumar Niasse but nothing is sealed yet.
  • Silva also claimed that Morgan Schneiderlin’s future is ‘here with me.’

  • Mark has certainly learned from Wagner as he went on and on and on and on, about giving a big effort and doing it for the team and… Someone HELP ME!!!
  • By the time the presser was done, he said nothing about injuries, wonderful. #WagnerIn!! Having said that, if you are reading this for FPL reasons, you are doing FPL wrong.
  • Based on the previous week, we know Danny Williams is out until March or so and Mooy and Sabiri could be back in the squad vs Everton if there are no setbacks.

  • Brendan Rodgers is linked with the Leicester job, of course he says he is all about Celtic, Puel says he hopes bettors keep losing. Personally, I hope Rodgers gets the job. I mean, who doesn’t love a deluded fool.
  • Puel needs to find an attack, the Foxes have only scored more than once in a game twice since October. Albrighton could make way for Barnes or even join him and be part of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 behind Vardy.
  • Amartey remains out.

  • Dejan Lovren should be available for the Leicester game.
  • Joe Gomez is “improving but not yet ready.”

  • Man City travel to Huddersfield trying to reduce the gap at the top of the table. Pep “I told my players to forget about the table and focus on Huddersfield. It will be freezing. When we have played there, it has always been complicated. Focus on what we have to do and try not to have regrets about what we have done. We don’t have regrets this season and that is what we have to try and end the season with”.
  • Vincent Kompany is doubtful having missed the past few games.
  • Benjamin Mendy (knee) has rejoined the group on the training pitches. Pep “He’s closer but not this weekend. This was his third or fourth training session with the team. Now it is time to get in his best condition”.
  • Pep Guardiola has backed Gabriel Jesus to cope with the departure of his family back to Brazil. Jesus’ family arrived before the Everton game on December 15 and since they arrived the striker has scored seven goals in four starts. But with mum, his two older brothers and his two-year-old nephew returning to Brazil, Jesus will be back on his own in his Manchester flat now. Pep””But of course, we cannot substitute the mother and when the family can’t be there, it’s difficult. They have to handle the situation and of course he is not alone, he has friends. I think it won’t be a problem for the next months”.
  • On Aguero Vs Jesus? Pep was super helpful. “No problem. We’re going to play one of them or both of them – no problem at all. Everybody is going to play. We have a lot of games”.

  • Can Solskjaer make it seven out of seven? Well everyone will be backing United here as they are at home to travel sick Brighton. Solskjaer “As I’ve said before you go into very single game as a Manchester United coach as a player or manager thinking you’ll win the next one, that’s just the nature of this club. We’ve had six good games but the next one is the most important one”. “I want the players to be confident, but I don’t want them to be complacent and take their foot off the pedal”.
  • Eric Bailly will be available because he has completed his three match suspension. Phil Jones the Kane ‘destroyer’ may keep his place.
  • Alexis Sanchez is fit, Smalling, Rojo and Fellaini are still injured. OGS “Chris, Marcos just started running lightly so not fit yet Alexis has trained all week so hopefully he’ll be available and Felli is the long-term one that’s out. He’ll be out for a few weeks”. OGS expanded on Sanchez “he’s chomping at the bit in training. He’s attitude has been fantastic in training and I’m looking forward to seeing him”.
  • Pogba and Matic have missed some training this week but both are expected to be available.
  • Asked if he expects United to make any January signings, Solskjaer added: “No, not really.”

  • Saints host Everton after crashing out of the cup on weds night.
“I think we really need fresh players on Saturday because we played 120 minutes, which is tough to go for a lot of them. I can’t make a change or rotate in every position because it is not possible due to the injuries we have, but we will have a look” said the boss.
  • Danny Ings is back. Hasenhuttl “He showed that he’s a guy who can score important goals for us. He is back after a small hamstring problem and it doesn’t seem that he cannot play 90 minutes on Saturday, so we have to think about it. We have a few options and we have to look in what direction it goes.”
  • Saints are also boosted by the return of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Charlie Austin and Yan Valery from suspension.
  • Saints still have key players out injured in Lemina and Bertrand. Hasenhuttl “For example, Lemina still has problems with his stomach and I wanted Ryan Bertrand to play yesterday but it was too early for him because he still has pain”.

  • Watford host Burnley this week. The Hornets are up to seventh after a very successful run of results. Will Hughes came off last time out, leaving Gracia pessimistic about his chances of playing this week. “We’ll see what happens with Will because after the last game, he is not training,” said Gracia. “We need to wait and see his evolution, but it’s difficult in this moment. He is not training in this moment, but maybe we will see with a good evolution in the next days. But playing in two days’ time, I am not optimistic.”
  • Definitely missing on Saturday will be Sebastian Prödl who is still out with a knee problem and according to Gracia, “is in the recovery process.”
  • Gray and Kabasele are pushing for a place on the bench after they got a full weeks’ training under their belt. Gracia “They have both trained very well all this week and they are ready”.
  • Abdoulaye Doucouré has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in this window. He has trained all week though and is very much available.

  • Wolves host Leicester this week, a team who they have already lost twice to this season. Five defeats in seven in the league have put an end to the so called ‘fortress Molineux’, which had previously only witnessed three league losses in 12 months.
  • Willy Boly is suspended for three games after his red card at City. Leander Dendoncker, who impressed when slotting in defence to cover Boly on Monday, is the favourite to replace him. Romain Saiss is another option.
  • No new injuries have been reported. Nuno “When a squad is short of numbers it has to have versatility to cope with those situations and we have it”.
  • Raul Jimenez has impressed with seven goals so far and Wolves have an option to buy him in the summer. Nuno “This is a normal course of things, we have to make the decision at the end of the season.Raul is doing very well and he must maintain the high standards. When that moment comes we’ll be here to decide.”
