Trends From The Top Game-week 12
Welcome to this week’s edition of Trends From the Top. For this week’s publication, I join your from the lovely city of Sofia, Bulgaria where games air 7 hours later than my standard NYC match times! (Well it’s actually the same time although I am in a different time zone). It was certainly an interesting weekend as Chelsea took on its 7th loss of the season and chatter continues to focus on topics such as potential relegation, firings and signings. It is important to see how this has effected or impacted the league leaders if at all and to see what insights and trends these fantasy football gurus have in regards to such happenings. Let’s dive in a bit to take a closer look at our top 10.
Who was the most captained player by the top ten for Game-week 12?
This week, 40% of the top ten managers selected Vardy as captain (18 points), 30% Bony (2 points), 20% Ozil (16 points) and 10% Sanchez (10%). What is interesting here is the fact that 3 of the top 10 selected Bony, yet he is only owned by 6% of fantasy managers.

Who were the most popular players chosen by the top ten for Game-week 12?
Goalkeepers:
For this past gameweek 40% of the top managers selected Hart while 30% had Cech, 20% had Butland and 10% played de Gea.
Defenders:
This week we saw 16 defenders make the cut for top managers. Interestingly enough, Kolarov (50%) was the only defender with an ownership rate of 50% or higher. Smalling came in at 40% while Kompany, Clyne and Koscielny were the next most popular picks with 20% ownership followed by Moreno, van Dijk, Stones, Creswell, Azpilicueta, Dawson, Dann, Sagna, Zouma, Bertrand, and Monreal each with 10%.
Midfielders:
When you look at midfielders, the top 10 managers had 13 different picks with several getting only 10% of the vote such as Tadic, Mata and Couthino. Mahrez was the most popular pick with 100% ownership followed by Ozil at 60%, Sanchez at 50%, Payet at 40%, Yaya Toure, De Bruyne and Ayew each with 30%, and finally Mane, Wijnaldum and Barkley each with 20%.
Forwards:
This week, the front line consisted of 8 picks among the top managers which again seems to indicate that such spots are not yet solidified and/or ever evolving or changing as needed. Vardy came in with 90% while Lukaku was the next popular pick as he received 60%. Martial was selected by 40% of the top managers with Bony and Pelle receiving 30%, Kane and Ighalo receiving 20% and Gomis coming in at 10%.
In summation, the Must-Haves for top managers for game-week 12 were not many. They were Kolarov, Mahrez, Vardy, Sanchez, Lukaku and Ozil as they all had an ownership rate of 50% or higher.

What are some other interesting findings regarding our top leaders?
– 4 of the top players are new to the top 10.
– Our leader received only 40 points for GW 12 (5 points below the average) and has deployed ALL chips including his wildcard.
– Our leader started this season in 55,554th place and has held the top spot for the past 3 game-weeks.
– Our current leader finished 706,351 for the 2014/2015 season.
– Struthious D, currently in second place, has held one of the top 2 positions for the past 5 game-weeks and has a better opportunity to maintain such lead when compared to our #1 leader as he has only utilized his bench boost chip.
– Our 2nd top leader has played fantasy football for the past 9 seasons and his best finish was 74,308.
– Our 2nd top leader achieved only 36 game points for game-week 12 which was 9 points below the average of 45.

Want Aguero in for GW14 – how would you do it?
as is
Sterling >>> Delafeuo.
Pelle >> Aguero
I don’t like Sterling but I rate him slightly higher than Payet at the moment
This week I’d do Payet out for Bolasie.
Then next week Pelle and Cedric out for Aguero and Simpson (Check if you can afford someone better)
I was looking at Cabaye rather than Bolasie – could go either way.
My defence is horseshit. Might have 3 non players this week, leaving Clyne & Richards
Your defence is very expensive so i’d take some funds from there. Lose Payet first for someone who saves enough that you can do Kolarov / Clyne & Pelle –> ?? & Aguero.
Not very helpful as far as picks go but it’s hard to judge for two GW’s away while not knowing any exact numbers.
If I take Kolarov, Payet & Pelle out for Cabaye & Aguero it leaves me 4.8 for a defender. Was thinking Ward but not playing the last game has unsettled me slightly. I’m really struggling to pick a value defender.
I still have my wildcard. Will probably sort Cedric, Clyne & Richards then.
EBC – You could do worse than a Watford defender. Iffy (supposedly!) fixture next GW but they have three beauts after that.
Good shout. Can always think longer term when it comes to my wildcard.
Just to confirm;
I paid 7.6 for payet and his value is 8.3 and I will only get 7.9 if I sell him tonight!
If he does go down to 8.2 I will still get 7.9 right?
Correct. I am in the same situation as you.
8.3-7.6 = 0.7
For ever 0.2, selling price increases by 0.1
0.7/0.2 = 3 plus remainder
0.6/0.2 = 3
My explanation is kind of confusing lol, but trust me
lol I was just trying to explain it to my missus but she told me to shut the fuck up!
How the hell is holby city more important than FF!! Grrrrr
Lol, as long as you understand… and nothing is more important than FF haha
Correct.
Lads how does WC team look I have 2.2 mil left over that I’m not too sure what to do with it. Haha
Make sure you click the WC button
Don’t jinx it mate happened to me 2 years ago and I started the week on -48 haha
Much better, and dead handy to get Aguero when the time comes.
Ye that’s why I left the 2.2 over cheers NIN. Still not sure about Ward though like Palace defence isn’t the best apart from Dann and that’d only because he gets goals.
NIN last question and then I’ll stop annoying you, I promise haha. If I do Souare instead of Ward I feel better but I just realised I’d have triple Palace cover is that too much??
I’m also tempted with Souare now.
Elliot in for Hennesey solves your triple up problem.
Actually, yes, it is. The penny didn’t drop when i first looked at it. That’s minor stuff though and can be ironed out over the next week or so.
Ye it only dawned on me whilst reading Cookies article and thinking of doing Ward to Souare but I think Ill just confirm this WC and work with that. Cheers for all the help mate.
Any advice on sub 5.0 defenders?
get aguero for Liverpool or wait for saints???
