World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat

Welcome to World Cup Quarter Finals Live Match Chat. And then there were eight. Well, England plus another seven πŸ˜‰ Some surprises along the way mixed with some familiar names progressing sees us arrive at the quarter-final stage with everything to play for. Like any tournament the continued presence of the home nation is generally seen as a positive, except by Spain of course who have already departed for the more familiar surroundings of Costa Blanca. We have also waved goodbye to Messi and Ronaldo and a new superstar has been born in Mbappe.

Sadly we said farewell to the gallant Japanese but with England facing Sweden, expectations continue to reach epic proportions. It’s coming home. Isn’t it?! Ah c’mon, let us dream!

We have the next two days off until we reconvene on Friday, so plenty of time to think over plans and transfers. Is it time to play a Chip or have they been utilised/wasted already?!

From a fantasy point of view we have 3 free transfers for this round and we can now own a maximum of five players from any one team.

THE GAMES IN FULL

Friday 6th July

Uruguay vs France (3pm)

Brazil vs Belgium (7pm)

Saturday 7th July

So that you have them to hand in one place here’s a reminder of the substitution rules, transfer allotment, wildcard and boosters. AKA the rules…

Finally getting over yesterday’s madness and looking forward to the semis! Used my 5 transfers already but leaves me with an unusable bench ….got 0.9itb is it worth a hit to reinforce my bench …anyone I really need to get in or just leave it as is?

Neves as this years GroB? How much is he mate? Lovely player but of an assist the assisted, a lot will depend if he can develop on his new found goal touch, yellows are a concern.

      • Smash says:

Yeah he’s a decent player but ultimately he’s a defensive midfielder who can score some stunning goals.

      • DMC says:

It’s not something he discovered recently. That charts is misleading, you see the two previous years he didn’t have any continuity in any Porto XI. He’s always been good for a long shot goal in club and country at youth level and that has now shown when given consistent play. If he can replicate that in the premier league that’s another issue. It will depend on being given the space. Not the same roll as Grob though I don’t think.

I meant in terms of being a cheap scoring FPL mid, not in a positional sense.

        • DMC says:

Got your point. Yeah, he’s good for the odd assist (namely from set pieces) too but, as you say, he often assists the assister so perhaps we need him to actualy score goals for any FPL points. Otherwise he’s a DMC as Smash said, not in the sense that he is me though!!

Looks mostly good. I don’t think TAA starts the season. He’s away at the World Cup, is very young. and Liverpool have loads of options at RB. Long don’t start at Burnley that’s Tarks and Mee. I would not double up anyway while they are in the Europa. I’m even less of a Zaha fan now he’s been reclassified he don’t score enough to be a striker
