Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

    Gents,

Can you please have a look at my 1st draft and let me know if any changes needed ? any ideas if mangala will start as Rami is suspended ? I can get in a polish defender for him instead but would like to take a punt on him as there is a good chance of france keeping a clean sheet.
who is better KDB or Hazard ? Any Suggestions would be highly appreciated..

    Many thanks in advance

      Snookie Bear says:

Based on recent form it seems Hazard, but KDB is also awesome and explosive player so if you are tight on funds go fo Hazard and save 0.5 if not you can go for KDB too both are good ! Don’t know who will play for Rami :/

Hi St1cky, my understanding is that it’s Mangala. My concern there would be it’s a one off. He’ll get replaced again for the semi. May or may not be of concern to you with 6 FT’s I know but depends if the rest of your squad mix needs fixing depending on the results.

      • DMC says:

humm my french is not that good but L’equipe seems to have Umtiti ahead of mangala. Cookie, should have some inside info here, not sure if in time for tomorrow’s deadline. I would surely fancy a frenchie starter at 4.0!

        • inittowinit says:

Pretty sure he said Mangala but I’ll check.

        • inittowinit says:

          Sounds like Umtiti now.

        • DMC says:

I hear you cookie. What about a gamble on Kos receiving a second yellow thus not playing in the semis? Then of course it would be against germany or italy (and without kos…) and I don’t know if we want any defenders in that game but hey that’s the drill when it comes to these stages. I’m building a team with umtiti in it and fingers crossed! smile

        • DMC says:

Yeah I hear you but whose defenders would you pick then? We do need to have 5!!
I’m thinking Portugal/Poland and France and of course Italy/Germany (cue the 0-0) have the best chances at a shut out but if we bring ourselves to prepare for the semis instead of looking for points in the quarters then I would pick no defender at all!

      • St1cky says:

        Hi init,

I’ve wildcarded, I think France has more chance of keeping a clean sheet this QF than anyone else which made me go with 2 french defenders along with a keeper. The only problem is that they play last and if my other defenders managed to get good points then I may not even use them. And by reading from the comments below from yourself, Cookie and DMC. I am more inclined now to get umiti.. I’m torn here really. aarghh !! I am leading my ML by 7 points and want to make this QF points count.

Don’t forget Fanager is back open with a free to enter 1k comp for the quarters. Or a money laundering e-mail scam as Kruz called it laugh

      Kruzcampo says:

      Hi Init
It is probably not a money laundering scam but I do think it is a bookie harvesting personal details and email addresses to bombard you with betting options and free bets to suck you in.1000 is buttons for them but someone will win but everyone will get battered with betting good things. Why have they delayed until the quarter finals? Could it be less money to pay out as prizes with only 3 rounds to go?

      • inittowinit says:

Hehe, I was only joking mate. It made me smile when you said it. Trust me they’re legit. I speak to Leon almost daily and I’ve known him for ages. They had a genuine issue with e-mails and we know it was genuine from our own guys – some had problems, some didn’t, depending on what provider you used. We had the exact same issue here when we first started. Fairly basic error that should have been foreseen.

And yep I’m pretty sure users will be bombarded with mails every week encouraging them to partake but hey that’s modern marketing and everyone does it. As for the prize the 1k is the quarters to test it all works. The semis is the 10k one, assuming it does. To be fair if they pull that one then it’s all credibility lost with both users and sponsors like us. We’d all pull back and not bother again. That’s too much to lose for them. 10k is a fraction of what they’ve spent on it so far.

Bobby Charlton’s reaction to England’s embarrassing defeat to Iceland,

Asked by reporters how his 1966 World Cup winning team would have done against Iceland, he replied “I think we would have won 1-0”
    “Only 1-0 gasped one reporter,
Yea replied Bobby…most of us are in our 70s now.

    Raziel says:

So anyone think Wales has a shot versus Belgium? Or will the Belgians have a walkover?

    • 149.1

      Hello Raz

No chance it will be a walkover I think. Admittedly Belgium have been improving steadily ever since their opener against Italy but Wales have the recent history taking four points from six against them in qualifying and looking good themselves in getting big results. They won’t be scared certainly.

Could be extra time or beyond.

      • Raziel says:

Okay mate, just a few teams left that I like. Wales and Iceland are two of them. smile

Really hope Wales can pull it off. Not at all charmed by any display by any team this Euros, so I root for the smaller teams. Just afraid Wales will collapse like Ireland did versus Belgium, seems that if they score the game is over. So Wales def. needs to get the first goal.

    • 149.2
      inittowinit says:

Won’t be a walkover by any stretch. They took 4 points off them in qualifying. Something bad would have to happen to Wales for them to succumb easily. I think Belgium will ultimately win but I hope they don’t.

    • 149.3
      DMC says:

In fairness, not really. This one says 2-0 belgium for me. Not a walkover, but ultimately too much for wales.

      • Raziel says:

Lol DMC, as you know the Dutch are not in it. But after the Iceland game I noticed a few people getting anti-Ronaldo because he said Iceland played for nothing, they are not winners, and so on. People that don’t even follow football he turns against him. Posterboy for football. 😉

So you reckon Portugal stands a better chance against Belgium with the way they play? Which by all means, is dreadful. 😉

        • DMC says:

Raz, dont get me wrong I’d love to see wales go through here and I actualy started the answer to your question with ‘they sure stand a chance being tight all round and with class players such as allen, rambo and bale they could go all the way’ but then I woke up and realized Haz will be up against people like gunter and taylor and chester and thus answered what seems reasonable In my eyes. Not an easy win but maybe they score first and ultimately end it on the counter late on.
Regarding Portugal I’ll let the lads answer your question If and when belgium come our way. I disagree, tottally, on that dreadfulness comment of yours, but yeah We are a bit below the par given the players potential which I firmely believe is not known by many. Anyway I’m done with moral victories and being the better team but eventually losing anyway.
1-0 In et after keeping things tight at the back and frustraiting one of the better playing teams In the tournament suits me perfectelly at the moment. If this was Italy everybody would be praising the team. We’ve played well In the past and reached 3 semi finals In the Last 5 euros and where has that led us to? No where really. Iceland are now the better team go figure… So, yeah I dont think Poland Belgium or Wales are good enough for us at the moment but hey strange things happen, like Holland being 4th In a group with Penguins, Turkeys and Bohemians!

        • Raziel says:

Hahaha. I understand you. It was just that the game versus Croatia was an abomination. 😉 From both teams. Many teams have disappointed, Sweden had no shots on target till game three?

We got what we deserved, swapping coaches and now sticking with a guy worse than Rodgers. I doubt we will even make the next worldcup if he is in charge. That in combination with the team being poorly setup and the players not caring. You get what you deserve. They regret it now though, lol.

Seems you guys are rather confident. If you play Belgium I will support you, I am really charmed with Wales though. smile
