Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

Boom or bust, Wildcard played! Not one to copy for the faint hearted but this is what I’m going with barring any last minute changes due to line-ups. Basically, if Poland, Wales, Italy and Iceland all progress then I’m screwed! The points will be low and I’ll have no team next round…

      Hey Init,

Ozil survives after that dreadful penalty and his general woeful performances? I would cut him loose. Thought Florenzi played very well for Italy against Spain. Also Ramsey could be considered.

      • inittowinit says:

I will consider both mate, thank you.

Assuming their German Visa’s come through in time for the game laugh

        • Haha.

I think it’s about spreading the chips just now. Not entirely, but just where you can. Especially if you’re on a WC.

Can’t back against Italy with any confidence just now and Poland could beat an unflattering Portugal. Wouldn’t consider that to be that big a shock.

Four transfers for me I think just to get rid of my fallers – Strinic, Pique, Perisic and Kane.

I like it and I also believe the best strat at this point is to bet on teams going forward instead of spreading too much. It’s boom or bust as you say but going too conservative here means having players playing against each other and We all know how that ends fantasy wise. That being said I dont carry my WC anymore so I’ll still feature an italian but the rest is very similar to yours regarding teams selected.

      • inittowinit says:

Thanks DMC, glad you see the strategy, odd as it may be in relation to future chances if it goes tits up! This is where the luck / judgement thing runs a thin line.

Are those Portugal def picks safe? Going to sleep now so won’t respond until tomorrow.

        • DMC says:

Guerreiro is, unless he has a set back. Cedric should, but we need to see the lineup here.

        • Init

I absolutely see the strategy you are trying to use no doubt. My point is I’d rather have the WC to fix it if it went, well you know, bust! Appreciate it could be hard to build towards it but I have managed to collect four Germans by this stage as an example.

        • photek says:

So far i haven’t seen anywhere i can use my WC so i’ve still got mine laugh

        • inittowinit says:

It won’t appear until you are in a position whereby your transfers would result in a hit.

        • photek says:

i did take a hit in the 2nd game week but i didn’t notice it then. laugh
Not to worry, i’ve already used 2 transfers, i’ve got 2 more to go before i get to hit territory.
          Cheers guys
