Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

You have to take your hat off to Wales well done lads

So happy for Wales. It is the little countries that show the real fighting spirit. Belgium is a small country but surely a big name in football with their current team. Really sad that Ramsey won’t play the semi-finals, I fear the worst versus the anti-football of the Portugese. BUT COMMON WALES!! smile

They can beat Portugal without him. 4 wins and 9 goals now as opposed to 0 wins in 90 and 6 goals. The dream final is alive!

      • DMC says:

Well, if they do beat us, credit to them and fair play to ramsey, he’d deserve that final. Not happening though! smile And those stats of yours coun’t for nothing, as croatia and poland should know by now.

        • inittowinit says:

They will when they wake up from the boredom trance you put them in laugh

        • NIN says:

          Haha :hippo:

        • inittowinit says:

To be fair I was more impressed with Portugal in that last game than I have been so far. Sanches made a difference, goal aside, he looks like a great little player. They moved the ball well but again, as we’ve said before, they played against a 10 man defence, which Poland retreated to after the first 20 mins. And persisted with for the remainder of the game. Almost the story of the tournament so far which has contributed to it being a relatively dull one, in my opinion.

        • DMC says:

Boredom trance eheheh nice description right there! We play with what We have and has worked so far so we’ll keep doing it. It does take a strong mentality to get back In the game after being behind 1 min In the game against a good polish team. They could have been 2-0 by the time we ‘started’ playing and after that we did take control of the game. Not that We did much to score the second but yeah Ronaldo could’ve burried a few easily. He’s keeping them for the right time! Wales know their business but I’m confident we’ll boredom trance them too and nick a goal In the late stages of the 90 minutes. If we do that, mark my words we’ll be European Champions regardeless of who We play In the final! Unless it’s France ! Or Italy! Or Germany! :))

        • Raziel says:

Well dmc, let’s hope your analytical skills for Portugal Wales are as spot on as those of Belgium vs Wales. What was it again? 2-0 Belgium. There was a two goal difference, I will give you that. 😛

        • DMC says:

Well In fairness belgium could have been 3-0 before wales’ first. They had 3 Yellows to defenders inside 30 minutes. But yeah that was the first time I watched a full game from wales and they too know their business: old fashion kick and rush with direct play to the central forward mixed with goals from corners. I mean their attitude is In fact extraordinary but they are not exactely the best team ever. Granted they have a great spirit and class players In bale, Ramsey , allen and of course Williams (whom I picked for the daily’s 7) so anything can happen In the semis, dont get me wrong by all means; I do not think this is a certain win. Far from that. But I do think we’re the better team. Let’s hear your prediction then?

Portugal just don’t have the quality players except Ronaldo, Nani and Quaresma. They can’t put multiple passes together and produce a decent cross but they have been decent defensively. It’s true on their side of the draw, the quality of teams are not that strong but they deserved to be in the semi-finals. I see the semi-final being close, giving the edge to Portugal, in fact if they were asked which team they wanted to face they would chose Belgium.

      DMC says:

You have got to be kiding Chris. Have you even seen any of our games? What We are missing is clinical finishing. We had 70-odd shots at goal In the group stages. How can you say that with People like Moutinho, Pepe, Carvalho, Fonte, Cedric, Patrício In the team? These are top quality players. With young talent to build on too like Renato, Mário, William, André Gomes. Dont confuse quality with a strategic option. This coach is very realistic and pragmatic but If We need to score we are tottaly capable of picking up the game and go for it, granted we’ll not take risks again once the tie is achieved. We have come back from losing posicions 4 times already.
We were lucky with that late Iceland goal putting us on the better side of the draw I agree but Croatia and Poland are good teams and they weren’t better than us. Is it an all round attacking minded team? No. Are we good at boredom trancing opponents? Yes, second to none on that. But can We not play possession football and score chances from open play? Of course We can; all our goals came from open play. Dont let the press and general idea fool you. This a talented team that will adapt easily to the needs of the game.

      • Hey DMC

Imagine how much easier things could be if someone else was allowed to take the odd free kick! 😉

I think there is undoubted quality in the Portuguese team especially Sanches who looks like a complete all-rounder. Bayern have made a tremendous signing there.

      • Raziel says:

Dmc, you really overrate Portugal. I know from your point view as a Portugese person it might look decent, but damn from a neutral point of view it is a drag to watch Portugal games. They really have not been impressive. Even Ronaldo has been absolute shite this tournament. Could all change in the next game. But don’t make them out to be something they are not. They play not to lose.

You are literally the only person I know that talks positive about their performance.

        • Kop Warrior says:

I really hope Portugal don’t win it. Sorry DMC smile

I can’t abide Ronaldo and Portugal have twice put me to sleep in this tournament.

        • DMC says:

There is a difference between being impressive and not having quality players bar 3 or not being able to put some passes toguether which is what I was waffling abou in regard to Chris’ comment. I’m not saying We play brilliant football. Not even close. It’d dull even for us. What I was saying and repeat is that this is not a weak team getting lucky. It’s a team that knows exactely what to do and doesn’t get Out of that unless needed. And yeah with a bit of luck here and there like the Iceland goal against austria leading to a better draw. We dont want people to praise our style of play; but they should ackowledge the improvement from other instances where We played good football and eventualy win nothing anyway…. What cookie said essentialy. But I get the comments We never want the boring team to win which doesn’t mean that the boring team is a bad one.

      • ChrisOllie25 says:

DMC I agree better finishing is needed. Look I am a big Cristiano Ronaldo fan but he has been poor so far. He has spurned chances that he finishes for his club with his eyes close.William I have issues in, very poor on the ball and Patricio sometimes don’t make the best decisions. Really excited by Renato Sanches, seems to be a player with great potential, the sjy is the limit for him.Ricardo Carvalho is too slow, he really should be on the bench. Quaresma for me should be starting. He’s useless coming on by the 80th minute mark. I was pleased with the last game, they made an intention to go forward and they controlled the game, thus deserved their semifinal place. Critics talk about how they are too defensive but except for Ronaldo and Nani, who do you expect to score? You have to play to your strengths. Their strength is to hold the opposition and hold the opposition.Part of their problem is that they don’t have a proper center-forward where Nani and Ronaldo can play off.
