Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

      NIN says:

      Do you have Gunter?

      • MattX says:

No but I have Williams !! laugh

        • NIN says:

Fool!! Bale it is so 😉

        • MattX says:

I know could be missing out on some big points there smile I was thinking Bale cheers NIN.

        • NIN says:

Yeah jokes aside i would go for Bale myself. I fancy Wales to go through even without Rambo.

        • MattX says:

Yeah I fancy Wales as well maybe just because they are a home nation and it would be great seeing them reach the final but I just don’t feel Portugal are strong enough and Wales will just squeak it.

        • NIN says:

They’re just a better team in general, i think so at least. It’s a shame that Rambo will miss it but at least he’ll be fresh and raring to go in the final, where i hope they absolutely hammer France!

        • MattX says:

I think you’re right I feel had for Ramsey as the yellow card rule is stupid in this tournament but hopefully he’ll get this rest to be able to make a real impact in the final. So you think the French will beat the Germans? I’m hoping they do but the Germans are such a strong side I can’t see who wins this game. It will probably come down to a stroke of luck or a moment of absolute genius most likely coming from Payet.

        • NIN says:

Yeah i’m pretty confident France will go through. I think they’ll win it but i really hope Wales can pull off a miracle result.

        • MattX says:

I’m the same as you I think France have finally realised they are the host nation and the crowd is giving them a boost so will go the whole way but I’m hoping this is the year of the underdog like Leicester and Wales will pull off a Greece or Denmark and get the win.

    MattX says:

Just seen that Payet has an ownership of 90% that’s got to be the highest ownership is it?

Also on a FPL note I think this season could be a different experience for a lot of us as there seems to be more world class choice so I don’t see an out and out template team but rather multiple choices that we can have for example, Kun or Ibra I doubt we’d be able to get both without destroying the balance. Hopefully this choice will make up for the disaster that was last season. Thoughts on this or am I spewing nonsense? laugh

      NIN says:

Yep, Bale (72%) and Neuer (71%) are the highest after Payet.

Nope, you’re spot on. Once the game launches i’ll be eying up a different approach than seasons passed, purely because of all the talent in the league now. I think we have to start ditching that worry / fear of selling big name players for short term purposes and really start going at these gameweeks hard. I’m sure there will be standouts who will be must haves but even the smaller teams have class players now. Hell, even Palace are lobbing 30m bids in for Tekkers so who knows what way these teams will line up for gw1. The whole league is swimming in sickening amounts of dosh so they can afford top players. Probably need to be more flexible with capo picks, too. Unless Kun returns to good ol self of course.

      • MattX says:

Yeah I figured out how to see the highest percentage after I posted I thought Lloris would have been higher than Neuer but the Germans have probably been the better defence.

Yeah exactly I’m thinking we could be seeing the smaller teams have more quality players especially Palace who are a team I’m really considering having a real good look at. I think the fixtures are going to be key this year as you say selling the big names for a few games could be the way to go in the long run. I think there is going to be more diversity for cap this season with Liverpool’s attack line they could be scoring loads and with new managers at United, City and Chelsea who knows how that will effect the teams. Plus as you say with the smaller teams being able to afford bigger names now it kind of evens the teams up a slight bit so in my mind it makes the league even more competitive. I don’t see someone doing another Leicester but I think the top 8 teams will be highly contested this year with Palace a contender. Be interesting to see how Southampton and Everton do with their new managers really hope Southampton keep up their excellence even though they keep losing so much.

        • NIN says:

Yep agreed on all of that. Gonna have to try and spread the wealth around a bit more because pretty much every team has a few solid players. One thing i am certain of is the resurgence of City. I reckon they’ll be shit-hot this year and win the league pretty handily by way of consistency rather than a full on blitz. That might happen too though. Aguero-De Bruyne-Silva-Gundogan-Nolito…. all playing under Pep. Holy shit :shake:

        • MattX says:

Yeah that’s very true. I think it will be City to win the league this year and in all honesty they should have won the league every year for the last few years with the quality of players they have but for some reason just never could. I think Pep will change that this season and as you say bring some consistency to City. Yeah that front five is lethal if they can stay fit!!

        • NiN, what about poor Raheem in that front 5 ?
          :big-lol:

      Mitro says:

Can you log in now? 90% seems ridiculously high! Given that RVP, Suarez and Henry in there prime were in the 70/80 mark

Whatever happens mkhitaryan will be in my team along with Kun, hazard and Sanchez smile I can’t wait till the season kicks off

      • Mitro says:

Oh you were talking about the euro FF! smile

        • MattX says:

Haha yeah sorry should have said that. laugh

Right now I have a few names I want in my team that I will have to work around like Payet, Kun, Haz and Sanchez so depending on budget it’ll be a challenge. This is why I think teams will be so different this year as there is more choice especially in midfield.

Does anyone think the 100 Mil budget will be upped or will the pricing of players just be reasonable? I just don’t see how they can have players like Mihkirtyan, Ibra and the other new players coming in along with the obvious hike in price for the likes of Kane, Vardy, Payet and the other cheap players last year that surprised.

        • NIN says:

Hazard, a top priority for me. He kicked off at the end of last season and had a good Euro’s too. Jose tried to break him, but failed 😉

        • NIN says:

@Matt is says on the site right now that the budget remains at 100m. Prices will be through the roof, we just have to deal with it. Kinda like MLS; sooo many expensive players so just chop and change them whenever and hope for the best smile

        • MattX says:

Cheers NIN I hadn’t seen that. Yeah it will be like the MLS except in that format we get more FTs to help with the chop and changing. Look’s like this season should help the more serious player instead of the ones who just play their WC and chips in the first 4 weeks haha smile I agree with you about l the prices being through the roof I see a lot of 8 and 8.5 Mil midfielders in my mind. I don’t see many choices at 4.0 and the only players at 4.5 will probably be the promoted teams.

        • NIN says:

Indeed, no sell on fee in MLS helps a lot too. This is what i mean about a change of strategy, there’s just too many points available to just be hanging around waiting on Sanchez or whoever to have an 8 point week or some shit. Ain’t worth it, and it shows in a lot of our ranks. Doubles league last season was a real eye opener to me and i reckon it’ll be more of the same again this year.

Still very angry with myself over that league. I made a huge blunder and cost us the title in our first season. Idiot!! Next time, it’s ours 😉

        • MattX says:

Yeah last season I had a few players kept on my team hoping that they would get big scores and all I would get is 2 points or if I was really lucky 3 so it’s probably a season where we need to be merciless and just dump any player that isn’t performing. I’m not sure how long we would give them a chance maybe 2 weeks is the aim this year. What I mean by that I’d if you get 2 weeks of 2 points then dump him.

Haha yeah that blunder was the best move you’ve ever made smile Silvers and I will be holding onto that crown so bring it on mate!! laugh

        • NIN says:

Oh we will, mate. We will smile Lets be havin ya’s :hippo:

        • MattX says:

May the best pair win!! Haha laugh

        • NIN says:

Hmm, should probably stop talking to you and Silvers for a while come to think of it.

Yeah, disregard everything i’ve said. I think United will win the league with City finishing 12th and, eh, never sell your stars. Yeah, that’s the one

        • MattX says:

          Hahahaha :big-lol:
