Euro 2016 Fantasy Football Live Match Chat – The Knockout Phase

Euro 2016 Fantasy FootballJust as the UK votes on a possible Brexit, the group stages at Euro 2016 have been completed with some unfortunates already on their way home, while all the Home Nations secured to Remain for a while longer as England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all qualified for the round of 16. You will notice a few changes to the fantasy game, so please allow us to run you through them so you are fully up-to-speed.
Price changes – some players price has increased, but only by a minimal amount it would appear. For example Dimitri Payet’s price has risen from 8.0mln to 8.1mln!! So, nothing to get too worried about.
As a result, your budget has increased by 5mln to 105mln, which not only reflects the price changes but also the fact that most of the smaller teams and cheaper players are no longer available due to them being knocked out, hence there are less budget options available.

Transfers – for this round you have an unlimited amount of transfers. For the quarter-finals you will have 4 free transfers, for the semi-finals you will have 6 free transfers and for the final you will have 6 free transfers.

Team personnel – you can now select four players from a single team for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

    Silvers says:

Morning all considering going with Muller (26%) over Bale (72%) its a big risk but if I choose Bale every one else has him. 😉

So Lionel Messi has been given a 21 month prison sentence for tax fraud. I can’t see if that’s to start right now or whether it’s been suspended for him to finish his career first. Anyone got more information on this?

      MattX says:

Very quick update, under some sort of Spanish law the sentence may be suspended.

      • DMC says:

Under 24 months jail sentences in Spain do not imply jail, if that makes sense. He’ll pay a fine in excess of the 4,1M€ tax evaded. Also this is subject to an appeal so it’s not definitive yet.
It’s very wrong to punish the player when everybody knows that they just play football while their fathers/agents do the tricks, but the difference here is that apparently there’s proof that he knew about (and agreed with) the operation, which is uncommon in similar situations involving athletes.
Anyway, as long as they give the money back and pay for the fine all is well in my view. It would be a shame if a player like this fades away for this reason.

        • MattX says:

Ah right Cheers DMC, I didn’t know any of that but I agree if he just pays back what he owes then I don’t really see the problem.

I imagine it was all his father I remember 2 months ago his father came out and said it was all him and that his son had nothing to do with the fraud so if that’s true then Messi should be allowed just pay the fine and move on.

        • Kop Warrior says:

Ah lads, he or anyone else who breaks the law to the extent he has deserves to go to jail!!

        • MattX says:

That’s true Kop but if he didn’t do it and if what his father says is true, that it was all the father then what I’m trying to say is that Messi shouldn’t be punished.

        • Kop Warrior says:

I fail to believe that Messi had no knowledge of what was going on.

        • MattX says:

I’d love to see the evidence because all I’ve read has the father mentioned in everything so I’m likely to believe it was the father who was the main actor but if Messi did something then the sentence is justified.

        • DMC says:

Kop, that depends on the legal system, no? If the legal system sentences someone to 21 months and if said legal system says sentences under 24 months don’t lead to jail, then no jail. Regardless of the crime committed.
Matt, it’s very clear that the father was trying to get his son out of trouble…
There’s an appeal though, let’s not forget that. Not that I’m saying he shouldn’t be punished, just saying this isn’t definitive.

        • Kop Warrior says:

DMC, I’m no legal eagle but to me the legal system is flawed. As in most cases the richer you are the better chance you have of getting a lenient sentence.

        • DMC says:

          That’s another issue mate.
I tend to agree with you on that and would add that the richer you are the better chances you have of getting things your way whether it being about the judicial system or anything else in life. So, it’s not something that comes from the judicial system, but that affects it.
It’s interesting though that we’re discussing this about a case that actual ended with a conviction. Normally, that argument is used when important people end up not being convicted. Granted he won’t face jail time.

        • Kop Warrior says:

Let’s move onto something a little lighter like…..the Chilcot report!! 😉

    Colriles says:

Cap Ronaldo or Bale? Bale or Ronaldo?

  5. 276
    waltine says:

Faced with such a difficult choice. Leader in my ml says he’s going Ronaldo. Tempted but I may just stick with Bale

    • 276.1
      Silvers says:

Haven’t even got Bale in my big mistake I want Wales to win but thk it is going to be very hard for them without Ramsey still we have to take risks :smiling:

    • 276.2
      MattX says:

Could be some mind games going on there mate stick with your gut as he might only be saying Ronaldo to make you pick him.

      • waltine says:

Sure, he was playing mind games. Now we both captain griezman tonight! haha.

        • MattX says:

So he captained Bale too? Looks like he should have gone with Ronny haha

        • Silvers says:

waltine Come on lads I wasn’t playing mind games just didn’t thk Wales had another game in them but didn’t what to say that outright as I wanted them to go though. I didn’t put Bale in for that reason & cap Ron but thought I had set team up but Rui GK didn’t save so I lost 7 points typical.
I fancy France to go though tonight but only just ,will be a tight game I thk any one of Giroud , Payet , Griz & Pogba would be ok but if I had Giroud it would be on him tough call.

        • Kop Warrior says:

Silvers, I don’t think the lads are suggesting you were playing mind games. They’re talking about the leader in Waltine’s ML!!

        • Silvers says:

Yes I thk your right mate I was just following the posts down , how you going Kop some interesting players joining PL its going to make an interesting season I thk teams are going to look quite different 😉

        • MattX says:

Yeah Silvers we weren’t talking about you mate. We’re talking about the ML leader in Waltines league because he said he’d captain Ronny but I said he wouldn’t laugh

        • Kop Warrior says:

All good here Silvers. The amount of money floating around in the PL has become ridiculous but it will certainly make things interesting.

Where you off to this weekend? smile

        • Silvers says:

Believe it or not Kop I away on Fri to Chester they have an evening meeting on there Fri night followed by a day/night out in Chester on the Sat after that I’m staying put for a few wks need a rest its killing me :smiling:

        • Kop Warrior says:

          Don’t worry Silvers I believe you 😉
