Euro U21’s Competition, Potty Style!
Thanks for reading Euro U21’s Competition, Potty Style!
Good Evening and welcome to the launch of my Summer Competition. Given as UEFA have left all us good fantasy folk stranded with no actual competition to play I thought I would step forward to try and fill the void a bit with my own little competition, just to keep us entertained. The competition is based on the Under 21 European Tournament which starts on Friday 16th June. Screw UEFA then, let’s get on with it…
Your aim is to gather as many points as possible, its that simple.
Follow this link to the UEFA site to find all you need to know when selecting your men who’ll hopefully bring you European Glory (then click on the Under 21 tab).
Lets Play ‘Its A Pre-Tournament Gamble’
The Rules.
A – Select 5 players from any position you wish.
B – Highlight one as your Captain (C) for double points.
C – Your men may come from just one of the Under 21 teams or a pick and mix from any.
D – Your five man team must be picked ahead of the tournament starting, hence its all a Potty gamble.
E – There will be two groups which I’ll draw on Monday at 9pm, with the top four after the group stage is complete making the semi-finals stage.
The Potty Points System!!!!
All your players will gain points as follows…
Appearance (and even off the bench) = 15pts
Goalkeeper/Defender cleansheet = 25pts
Goalkeeper/Defender conceeding = -10pts per goal
Any player making an assist = 20pts per assist
Any player scoring = 30pts per goal
Yellow or Red Card flashed = -5pts & -8pts respectively.
Now pick your 5 star men from these teams…
Poland
England
Slovakia
Sweden
FYR Macedonia
Portugal
Serbia
Spain
Czech Republic
Italy
Denmark
Germany
The 1st part of the competition, and your 5 picks as per above, are for the group stages only. You will get to pick a different squad after that but stay tuned for details should you qualify that far.
So do a wee bit of research then post those men of yours below.
Cheers my dears x

Init – you managed to make it exciting! For me anyway. 20-odd pts is too much I reckon at this time of the competition but a brutal and unexpected capo call could still play a part.
Very unpredictable last gw with only Spain already secured.
Group A is the most unpredictable where even Poland could be first if they win vs England by 2 or more and SLO-SWE ends up with a tie.
Other than that odd miracle it seems that 6pts will be required to go through as 2nd best and there are 4 teams with a real shot at 6 pts (Slovakia, Portugal, Czech and Italy)!
What makes it interesting is that all of them are on a 3-3 goal difference so goal difference will probably settle it which suggest attack attack attack.
Italy may be the least interesting of the pack given that they are playing Germany with probably the need to win big.
The Czechs could be in for a treat though – they play Denmark who is on 0-5 in total and they will know exactly how many goals they’ll need given that they play in the last day of gw3.
Portugal could be tempting but I’d be wary of Macedonia (gulp) for they showed they are no pushovers against Serbia. I still expect us to win confortably.
Slovakia know that if they win vs Sweden they have a good chance of qualifying either as 1st (if England fail to beat Poland) or as 2nd best with 6 pts but Sweden can go through themselves with a win if England fail to beat Poland. Serbia’s chances are unreal so I wouldn’t bet on them. Germany could still be a good choice given that they haven’t secured top spot but with a 5-0 difference they’d need to stink it all out so I expect some rotation.
Spain will rotate surely and they have quality on the bench but Serbia are no pushovers either so not sure what to expect there. Maybe follow FPL advice and go only for teams with something (real) to play for.
This is all mind games on you Kop, of course!
Brilliant post mate, thank you!
Cheers DMC 😉
Just sorted my team and it’s all based on your analysis DMC
Ehehe good! I will need to do the opposite then! It’s working!
DMC do you thk Sanches will start gw3 ????
Sorry Silvers – see below.
Managed to log in 2nd time of trying 😉
Ok lads big push now different tactics required Do we thk Rent boy Por & Duffle coat Spa will play this nk GW ?????????????????
nK ? how do we change order of subs ???
Just click on the arrows next to them
Hey Init what do we thk off Sanches and Deulofeu starting GW 3 ???
I can’t see any reason why Sanches wouldn’t. Not sure on Deulofeu so I’d stay away.
Yeah Sanches will most probably start.
Not only he was much better in gw2 than on his off the bench appearence in gw1 but also Bruno Fernandes is out so it will be him to lead the team I suppose.
I’m not sure I’d buy him mind you, he doesn’t seem too happy to be playing for this U21 team. Then again he already has an assist so maybe fantasy wise he could come good.
Liverpool turn down a £12 Mil bid from Napoli for Moreno…. Elle will you please head down to Anfield and teach them how proper Liverpudlians commit daylight robberies??
Will do. Could get messy this one. Should’ve took the 12, think Pool want 18, what they paid, but there is one sticking point, hes shite.
Good man. Supposedly they want 15 Mil but I’d honestly take 6. I just want him gone!! Milner the 30 something right footed midfielder did a better job last season than Moreno did in his 5 minute cameos.
I am on my way down to Napoli to slap the shite out of whoever offered any money for Moreno.
Don’t do that! Give them a slap on the back and encourage them to up it another 3 Mil. He’s world class 😉
Thanks for the info DMC. Blind man in the dark today…. 😉 Best of luck y’all.
Just reading that Schick signed for Juventus today/yesterday. Any word on his availability?
Can’t see it being an issue as they don’t play again until Saturday.
A ha. Cheers Kop.
