Good Evening and welcome to the launch of my Summer Competition. Given as UEFA have left all us good fantasy folk stranded with no actual competition to play I thought I would step forward to try and fill the void a bit with my own little competition, just to keep us entertained. The competition is based on the Under 21 European Tournament which starts on Friday 16th June. Screw UEFA then, let’s get on with it…
Your aim is to gather as many points as possible, its that simple.
Follow this link to the UEFA site to find all you need to know when selecting your men who’ll hopefully bring you European Glory (then click on the Under 21 tab).
Lets Play ‘Its A Pre-Tournament Gamble’
The Rules.
A – Select 5 players from any position you wish.
B – Highlight one as your Captain (C) for double points.
C – Your men may come from just one of the Under 21 teams or a pick and mix from any.
D – Your five man team must be picked ahead of the tournament starting, hence its all a Potty gamble.
E – There will be two groups which I’ll draw on Monday at 9pm, with the top four after the group stage is complete making the semi-finals stage.
The Potty Points System!!!!
All your players will gain points as follows…
Appearance (and even off the bench) = 15pts
Goalkeeper/Defender cleansheet = 25pts
Goalkeeper/Defender conceeding = -10pts per goal
Any player making an assist = 20pts per assist
Any player scoring = 30pts per goal
Yellow or Red Card flashed = -5pts & -8pts respectively.
Now pick your 5 star men from these teams…

Slovakia
Sweden
FYR Macedonia
Portugal
Serbia
Spain
Czech Republic
Italy
Denmark
Germany
The 1st part of the competition, and your 5 picks as per above, are for the group stages only. You will get to pick a different squad after that but stay tuned for details should you qualify that far.
So do a wee bit of research then post those men of yours below.

Sometimes just one player can ruin everything! Dropped from 5th overall to 22nd in the space of 21 painful minutes! Thems the breaks I guess!

FPL launches w/c 10th July so any time after that really. Once it’s live we (you!) can add in player prices etc.

Wish i was Milburn!! Wishing I hadnt took up the U21 comp after last night, was litterally gutted I didn’t have Saul, could have been top 5 but I bottled it!! Such a short comp as well so no coming back from that!! hey ho these things happen!

I haven’t followed it at all to be honest Rosco mate, thought it would only cause more hurt and misery.
Fully rejuvenated for FPL in 2 weeks time now though! Positive thoughts and all that… let’s see how long they last!
You would be right on that score!! I played it with relish and I sat 5th overall until Saul started banging them in…now I’m just feeling all sad and shit!! haha will hopefully have the article in a good place to send over in time for you to run your eyes over / make any additions or changes in the next week. Been waiting with bated breath on new signings…but we may still be waiting for them by the time the season kicks off!!
Brilliant, I look forward to it. And yeah they definitely haven’t been as forthcoming as I’d have liked. So much for “Rafa can have every last penny to spend”! Still plenty of time though so I’m not panicking just yet.

If nobody comes in we’ll definitely be down there but I still think there’s 3 worse teams than us.
Yeah probably, assuming you will be better than the 2 teams who came up with you, you really just have to stay ahead of one more team. I hope they buy some reinforcements though. I like when Newcastle is competitive because St. James Park gets nuts. Love watching teams go in there and crumble.

I hope Williams gets points for celebrating Saul’s goals. 😉
He won’t, but it’s virtually impossible to build a team with Asensio and Niguez and 9 other starters. Anyway, given that Asensio scored an hattie before Saul it’s now time for Asensio again! Williams will just come in for a brace in the final 15 mins.
I haven’t tried to build a team yet, but I can imagine.
They kept the budget at 100 but they messed around with player prices, supposedly to help us, but it doesn’t. Not enough anyway. It makes you buy people that are not nailed on and / or that are Germans. We don’t want either of those!
The line ups will of course determine all this as I’m not playing Platte/Dahou if they are nonstarters. I just feel we need the +2 pts given to the winning team. If the Spaniards can keep Germany at bay that’s 7 pts for each defender and 35 if you have all 5 defenders/GK from one team. That of course means you compromise elsewhere and that equation isn’t settled for me yet, but it won’t differ much from this. It’s all irrelevant now though for people (like me) with a 40 pts gap to the league leader.
