Afternoons lads
Hey FH, how you doing ?
Tip top Cookie, finally cracked the top 100k. Won my banterbury and fpl cup.
A great weekends work yourself?
Yeah was ok, but Goofy could have made it even better instead of rolling around for 90mins
Needed goofy to flop yesterday so it was a relief he didn’t do too much damage
FH, nice one! I just checked out your gameweek history for this season. You’ve had a very similar journey to mine. Let’s hope it continues…
Definitely BM, it’s been a big turnaround. Trick is to keep it going.
Has anyone seen Graeme Swann or Jonathon Trott lately?
Last seen jumping off a sinking ship in the Indian Ocean?
By the way I feel compelled observe that the Ashes are the property of the MCC, and the triffling matter of an Ausie whitewash ain’t going to change that!
Hello everyone and how are Cookie my pal
Hey Killer, Happy Christmas mate, hope you and the family had a good one mate. I see your team continues to do well, a great turnaround that my friend, nice one!
many happy returns Cookie and yes family is well, thanks.my team is improving but still not up to scratch.I had the worst first 10 GWs this season so I’ve been playing catch up ever seen.on the other hand I’m really excited about your team this season.15 games won out of 19 in the HTH league emphasizes what I’m saying.really good team ans choice of captains.make sure you are the top dog in Monaco come the end of the season
I’m trying Killer, feels a tad strange and slightly wrong being disciplined this season, but its clearly working together with a whole load of things going my way, so far.
I know you will come good come the end of the season.any transfer plans yet?
Killer, I need to replace Brady, seeing as though he’s continually injured. Silva is suspended and if Rooney doesn’t make it or Hazard rested I wouldn’t field 11, so I need to find a cheap mid.
I’ll probably bring in Sterling, who I’m really not a fan of, but does have some nice fixtures and he’s done ok lately. I feel dirty bringing him in though.
Cookie what’s wrong with Sterling? lol.
What your thoughts on:
Alcaraz?
Bardsley?
Olsson?
Naughton?
Rat?
Those for now š
Milky, I think Sterling is hugely overrated, not a fan at all – however, he has performed fantasy wise lately and i’ll admit it, surprised me. Thing is at his price range, I see him as the best option of scoring points over the course of the next few weeks or so. But I’m open to suggestions!
Alcaraz is a great option up until Jags is fit again….perfect short-term replacement
Bardsley – Kop tipped him, so he must be good
Olsson, Naughton, Rat I’d avoid personally, but all have the potential for the odd clean sheet – just think if you bought one of them in, you may regret it after 3/4 matches.
Cookie – Howdy,i brought in Sterling last night,he should do well in the next 3 or 4 games,i think he’s your best option in that range,i don’t really like him but i rate him as a footballer,he can be a nightmare at times.
we seem to be on the same wavelength Cookie cos i brought in sterling for Ramsey early on today.I feel liverpool will win by a big margin against hull.they’ve got enough motivation for that.first they would want to avoid 3 defeats on the bounce, catch up with arsenal on the table and revenge their 3-1 defeat in the reverse fixture.
I’m hoping Ramsey also recovers quickly because arsenal have got some nice fixtures coming up
Haha Cookie in that price range its Sterling or Januzaj really, and Sterling is getting the minutes. And playing off Suarez/Hendo/PC he’s bound to trip into the right place every now and then.
Yeah I’m looking at Alcaraz IF he is nailed on. Kop tipped Bardsley? Then he must be gold!
You watch NIN, if I do buy him, watch his points dry up!!
Milky, yep Januzaj is the other option, but as you indicated, he ain’t playing enough to justify the move.
M&B –
Alcaraz – Decent shout but will have to be changed when Jags is back.
Bardsley – Good for the odd nice score but in general, not for me (i really dislike him too)
Olsson – No matter which Olsson this is,big no from me.
Naughton – Stand in in a dodgy Spurs team,no again haha.
Rat – No again,West Ham haven’t been tight recently and this guy seems to get injured a lot.
Haha Cookie, yes well Sterling is the way to go. Trust me, I’ve picked all the wrong cheap midfielders and he isn’t in my team!
NiN yeah I think I like Alcaraz but I need the guarantee he’ll start because the move is for a necessary hit.
Guys just a caution, I wouldn’t be surprised seeing Sterling benched for Moses or Aspas against Hull, he’s been playing a lot of games recently while they have been resting.
Cookie – Don’t say that mate haha,i’ve just got back to back green arrows for the first time since GW 6/7 hahaha,if it goes red again i’ll hold you personally responsible, and will be looking for answers…actually,i’ve changed my mind,go with Januzaj mate haha.
As far as I know, Moses is injured and Aspas isn’t nowhere near the level of Sterling is in favour right now.
Moses isn’t injured, he was just ineligible against Chelsea.
I agree that Aspas isn’t playing well but we have a really thin squad at the moment with a lot of injuries and if we keep playing the same players every game they too will get injured. Just my thought.
Suarez, surely after two successive defeats and in an attempt to halt the alarming slide towards the relegation zone, Rodgers will need to play his best team available ?
Lol Cookie, if we had a bit more luck with some refereeing decisions we’d still be in the top 4. Hopefully these decisions even themselves out for the return games š
Yes we need the strongest side possible but rotating one or two is definitely a possibility after two tough, tiring away games. However, the same way that he can get benched there’s also a possibility he might only play 60-70 mins.
Cookie, any news on Rooney’s groin strain? Is it a long term problem?
I’m considering captaining him with Spurs being poor defensively without Vertonghen…. and he’s had the weekend off š
Suarez, there seems no update at the mo – though a mate of mine went up to the West Ham match and said Rooney hardly moved for the 2nd half, so I have a suspicion that they’ve been playing him when they probably shouldn’t of, but they needed wins.
I would be careful of skippering him, personally, but its your call.
Ok cheers mate. I read somewhere that Moyes said that after each game he needs 3-4 days off which is a long term concern.
LS – even Fergie was saying that about him…probably passed the msg onto Moyes š …
Love the idea of this competition.
Having attempted to research answers to the first 3 questions, i decided rough guessing of answers would be a lot more fun, and alas, my grand total is 17689.
Good luck to everyone in it.
Bean Is Back – We also need an answer to each individual question
All my individual answers are in the email…dont want people laughing at how obscure they are š
Quick question – to get a front 7 of: Hazard, Walcott, Silva, Gerrard, Aguero, Suarez and Lukaku, would you take a ‘permit’ dirt-cheap defense – as in would it be worth it?
Check my team now, it’s fairly well rounded, with a solid defense, but has 2 cheap mids.. Brunt being the one whom I would/could theoretically upgrade to Gerrard – also with Rooney to Aguero – but my currently-good defense would be literally demolished.
Thoughts? I’m thinking a rounded team is the better option
jamesimmo – How ‘dirt cheap’ are we talking mate..list out an example defence please…??
Horrendously dirt cheap, mate, I was just experimenting really.. but anyways:
De Gea ? McGregor
Dawson ? Olsson
Sagna ? Chester
Kompany ? Vlaar
With Ward as an option too. Typing them out was almost painful. Especially when the former 4 (De Gea, Kompany etc) got me 37 points between them this week. Don’t think I could ever go through with those moves, the defense looks hideous.. even though the attack looks amazing.
jamesimmo – Hmm,the front 7 does look beast, but i think that defence will break your heart most weeks, when the likes of Vlaar and Olsson are picking up 1 and 2 points most weeks a lot of your opponents will have strong front lines but be backed up by good defences too, giving them a better GW average, downgrading is fine, but there’s a limit as to how light it can be in my opinion, this defence looks too light to me.
Jamesimmo -thought we covered this earlier today š ..
Just kidding…107/108mil and you can have the front 7 with 2 good defenders and a cheap one (but good one/Hull/Palace)…
Just you will need to downgrade Lukaku to J. Rodriguez let’s say…
:cheer:
