    Afternoon chaps…

    I have a WC dilema..!

Do I use it straight away..?
Or wait and see what happens in the tranfer window..?

Rumours on big players joining the prem..?

    Sniejder > Man Utd
    Benzema > Arsenal
    Falcao > Chelsea
    De Bruyne > Liverpool (loan)

    Anyone know of anymore ..?

      Tekno-kun* says:

If Sneijder and Falcao joined I’d maybe have Falcao instead of Rooney, and Sneijder instead of Hazard. Doubt Benzema will go to Arsenal though, I don’t follow Real closely but they don’t have that many strikers do they?

      • redmecca says:

Madrid have some really top drawer forwards:
Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema and di Maria.

The issue for me is, yes they’re big names, but at the moment they are untried and untested in the Prem,

Remember the mad rush to get Soldado?

        • Tekno-kun* says:

Doesn’t Ronaldo and Di Maria play as wingers though, while Benzema is a CF?

And yes, I remember the rush to Soldado far to well, I was one of the morons who believed the hype and brought him in… I guess it’s best to have a wait-and-see approach to new players.

        • redmecca says:

Benzema must be a lone forward then, and you’re right, he’s the only one they have.

Didn’t they offer him plus about Ā£20m to Liverpool in exchange for Suarez?

    Hi guys,

I have 2 questions concerning my last transfer in 2013:

    1. Transfer either Oviedo or Ravel out?
    2. Bring either Henderson or Sterling in?

I favour Henderson for whatever reason
    Opinions, thoughts?

    Thanks in advance

For everyone wondering who to captain between Suarez and Walcott, here’s some stats showing how Cardiff and Hull have performed against the current top 7:

Cardiff have faced City, United, Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal at home, and Chelsea and Liverpool away. In their home matches they conceded 8 goals, and in their away matches they conceded 7 goals, making a total of 15 goals over 7 matches, averaging 2,14 goals conceded per match, 1,6 average goals conceded at home, 3,5 average goals conceded away.

We clearly see that Cardiff have performed far worse when playing away against top teams than when playing at home, conceding many goals.

In their last five matches they have played Palace (A), West Brom (H), Liverpool (A), Soton (H) and Sunderland (H), conceding 10 goals, winning 1 match, drawing 1 match and losing 3.

Hull have faced Liverpool and United at home, and Chelsea, City, Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal away. At home they conceded 4 goals, away they conceded 9 goals for a total of 13 conceded goals against the top teams. At home Hull have conceded an average of 2 goals per match, away they have conceded an average of 1,8 goals per match, conceding an average of 1,857 goals per match in total.

Hull actually concedes fewer goals on average away than home and have a lower average of conceded goals against the top teams than Cardiff even though Hull have played most of their matches away when Cardiff have played most of their matches at home.

In their last five matches Hull have faced Swansea (A), Stoke (H), West Brom (A), United (H) and Fulham (H), conceding 5 goals, winning 1, drawing 3 and losing 1.

    Summary:
Cardiff have a high average goals conceded per match away against top teams.
Hull have a respectably low average goals conceded per match away against top teams.
Cardiff are in poor form, getting 4 points and conceding 2 goals per match in their last 5.
Hull are in ok form, getting 6 points and conceding 1 goal per match in their last 5.

These stats quite clearly shows that we can expect Hull to perform better against Liverpool than Cardiff against Arsenal. Therefore, when we look at the opposition Suarez and Walcott are facing, Walcott appears to be the best option.

Of course, we must remember that just because Cardiff have performed worse than Hull so far it’s not 100% certain that they will perform worse in this match.
Also, it’s worth noting that Hull conceded 4 goals away to Soton; if I had counted Soton as a top team then their average goals conceded per match away would be 2,167 instead of 1,8.

I am quite sold on the Suarez decision already, no stats will scare me away from giving him the arm band.

But this post actually helps me in choosing McGregor over Marshall this GW.
If Suarez scores, good, Ill get captain points. If he doesnt, well, he’ll still take shots, and McGregor will rack up save points at least. Hah!

      Tekno..

      Interesting read..

However good the stats, you cannot legislate for the spectre of dodgy refs / linesmen ie Liverpools last two games…
Also injuries will have a baring on both fixtures, with Arsenal & Liverpool missing two key players in ?zil & Gerrard .. Without them providing the assists, both teams could struggle..?

In theory both teams should comfortabley beat their opponents, but the fine lines of who to captain is still a lottery.. I’ve got both Suarez & Wally so I should be happy either way, but my gut says Suarez ..
The reasons are simple ….even tho he’s not scored in the last two games, he’s caused both city & Chelsea big problems & been unlucky in both….plus Liverpool will need no team talk against a Hull team that battered them quite comfortabley not so long ago…
.I smell sweet revenge in the air…
with king Louis applauded of the pitch with the match ball neatly tucked under his arm….!!!

      • Tekno-kun* says:

        Bigpopz
Stats never show the whole picture, so there is always certain factors that stats will miss out on.

My gut tells me that Suarez will get at least two goals, however as I’ve gone with my gut a couple of times before this season to choose captain and it didn’t work out, I’ve decided to not go with my gut anymore and choose captain based on rational thinking instead. I think both Suarez and Walcott have the potential to give big returns this GW so they are both great options, but the stats I’ve provided convinces me to go with Walcott over Suarez.

        • jamesimmo says:

Tekno, it could pay off massively for us, or it could badly wound us. Regardless, you can’t fault the decision, and I think it’s a good call.

After your stats Info on Cardiff & Hull….

What camp do you sit in ref captaining either Wally or Suarez …?

You kinda left yourself sitting on the fence..,!

Answered this in a reply to one of your posts a little higher up on the page.
        My gut says: Suarez
        My brain says: Walcott
        I’ll go with Walcott.

If Rooney was 100% fit I’d actually go with him, as neither my cup opponent nor my Banterbury opponent have him, but it’s too risky to cap an injured player.
