Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 19
Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 19 article. After two poor weeks in a row we finally had some luck and posted a decent score of 76 to get us back on track and that leaves us at 64,823 overall. Well, we say luck, there’s nothing better than a successful FPL transfer decision and one that brings you 30 points is to be rejoiced! Last week we culled Kane and brought in Zlatan and captained him. Suffice to say the big man didn’t disappoint. And we won’t lie, we had a wry smile when Kane missed his penalty. Game-weeks hang on such fine margins at times. So Zlatan was obviously our bedrock but we saw decent returns elsewhere too, notably from Pedro who we had hung onto more in hope than anticipation as he had missed the previous week and posted poor scores of 1, 3 and 2 prior to that. Our patience was rewarded with a big 13 this week. Unfortunately the silly sausage then went and got himself suspended for this week which leaves us in a bit of a pickle. And said pickle only got bigger when Walker went and got himself suspended as well having posted a rather disappointing 1 pointer for us. His team-mate Erik did rather better with two assists and 10 points though. Other than Cech getting a straight 6 though the rest were fairly mundane other than our 3rd pickle… Our Itchy pick was described by one commentator this week as “simply a poor choice at the moment”, and we couldn’t agree more! Especially when he didn’t even start this week. He redeemed himself with a late goal though to give us a 5 for him and it could have been more as he was waiting to tap in the Sterling cross which Davies turned in for an own goal. Goal or not he’s still an issue which needs dealing with, to add to the others #gulp…
Transfer – Sold Pedro and Iheanacho and bought Phillips and Defoe
We will admit this one had us a bit stumped. Every which way we turned it was far from ideal. And the ideas and suggestions were thin on the ground, which in some ways was a relief, after the fighting seen recently as a result of there being so many in the past few weeks. In the end we decided to go with the tried and tested in terms of fairly consistent FPL point scorers in the shape of Phillips and Defoe. It’s not overly exciting or innovative but it probably keeps the wheels turning for a bit until better opportunities present themselves.
The obvious point here is that we haven’t really planned for Aguero’s return. In truth we are happy enough to run with Costa and Ibra as our main forwards for the time being and we will make a call on Kun in the next few weeks if anything happens to our big two or if Kun shows signs of life again.
The other obvious point is that our team does look a bit bedraggled this week, we are aware of it so don’t come pointing it out please! It happens sometimes when you encounter a few suspensions at once, but then sometimes the most aesthetic of teams don’t always bring home the bacon so let’s see what our ugly pigs can do for us this time out…
THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR Gameweek 19
Our Captain is Zlatan
He’s been in imperious form and faces a Middlesbrough team who are without a win in their last 8 away games. It was him or Costa and both are good shouts this week and we would happily have gone with either but we went with Zlatan. Let’s hope the Iceman cometh again…
If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.
Deanlive! Here’s your article
Much appreciated, I’m expecting one to be posted on Sunday night too?
I don’t know, are you?!
Hmmm ?
Hahahahaha
Glad someone got that butch, thank you 😉
Hey guys, how’s it going? Site team’s defense looks about as dodgy as mine this week, ha! I was actually wondering if anyone had a suggestion on my last defensive spot to fill. Would you play: Holebas (TOT), Amat (BOU), or Chambers (mun)?
Hey Red, how you doing mate? Personally i’d play Amat on the basis that Curtis the caretaker may just inspire. After that Holebas for his attacking prowess. But expect little from any in all honesty!
Hey Cookie! Things are going well here, getting pounded with snow though- possibly 2 feet by storm’s end. How are things going with the twins? You getting any sleep??
Yeah, pretty much every choice is awful, lol. Doubt any of them are good for more than a point this week. Who are you liking for captain?
Alonso probably. Followed by another hour wasted talking him out of it
Red, beautiful mate will you get any skiing in? We drove up to the slopes yesterday for the day – lovely it was.
Not getting much sleep but better than it was thanks.
I think I’m going Ibra again, though I am tempted with Hazard or Costa having seen Stoke crumble to the minnows of Liverpool the other night 😉
Haha
Or Alonso. Must not forget ol’ Fernando.
Wait, that was a ‘haha’ reply to init- not your belittling of mighty Liverpool, Cookie!
Haven’t been able to ski since the kid was born actually. I work evenings at the hospital in my city so I have the boy during the day while my wife is working. Been skiing since I was little though so it won’t be like that forever. Really looking forward to when he’s old enough that I can take him up and teach him.
I think I’m between Ibra, Costa, and Sanchez right now. Ibra because he’s on fire, Costa because he’s fresh and almost guaranteed to start, and Sanchez just because he’s Sanchez I guess. All my H2H matches are against super strong teams so captain choice is usually the difference between winning and losing. No added pressure!!
Cracking midfield you have there Red.
Fck it captain Siggy home to Bournemouth.
Red the attached table is sorted in terms of goals conceded away from home, top to bottom. We are looking at Palace, Stoke and ‘Boro in respect of Alexis, Costa and Ibra. Palace are worst by a distance, Stoke are mid table and ‘Boro have conceded half of what Palace have away. Palace may be different due to the new manager thing. Just putting it out there as food for thought.
Thanks Cookie. Made the switch to 3-5-2 a while back as I wasn’t liking the 3rd striker options and there seem to be so many midfielders scoring points. Time will tell but it’s been working OK so far.
Wow, thanks init!! Much appreciated, man. Sanchez would be a nice differential pick this week, too with Ibra, Hazard and Costa getting the most focus I bet. Could work a treat!
Hmmm…. Was dead set on Ibra myself until that! Might be tempted by Costa now though. Chelsea outscore Man U at home by 10 as well. This ones sorted by home goals scored.
Haha, Costa could be great too, init! Love all the stats but they aren’t making the choice any easier, there are so many decent options this week!
I can but try Red! Think I’ve talked myself into Costa if nothing else anyway
Those stats are awesome, man- thanks again. Just so much to think about and I always go around and around forever trying to think about every angle, lol. The good thing about Costa captain is he’s really gotta start after his forced rest last game week. While it’s unlikely the other main contenders will be rested, you’ve gotta think there’s a better chance of it with them. Having a captain cameo appearance after starting on the bench would be a nightmare.
Here’s mine for GW19
Nice looking side, init. Defense is boss and I like the Carroll pick if he can stay healthy. I hope you’ll forgive me for not posting my current side, I try to be careful with what I post around here as most of my Banterbury opponents are members of the site and it’s getting down to the business end of the season. Been on top of the league for a couple weeks now and don’t want to give away anything early.
You taken any hits this GW Init & are you thinking of bringing Kun in nk GW ????
Enforced -4 there Silvers due to Wally, unfortunately. 3rd week in a row now, which is very unlike me but last weeks worked out fine with Ibra so rolling the dice again doesn’t feel that bad.
Hey Init you have just given me a great idea for picking this wk Cap I’ll roll two dice whatever number comes up that’s who I’ll go with. Double 6 means you can pick.
Just taken a hit for the 3rd wk in a row no wonder I’m dropping like a brick now then where did I put that whiskey bottle 😉
evening.
Im looking to upgrade my defence as im pretty happy with the restbof the team so was thinking of upgrading my 5th choice defender (Amat) with Funrs Mori. Ive got 0.6 itb. Is Mori a definate starter now and is he the best choice for range of 4.1_4.7 for the upcoming weeks?
Evening saloba, bit hit and miss in terms of the Everton defence and their starters at the moment. I’d probably steer clear unless it was Coleman or Williams.
fair point init. Think ill hold of and upgrade my 5th choice mid as its routledge. Only brought him in to allow me to get zlatan the previous gw which worked out pretty well. Im going with routledge this gw instead of zaha. Good choice?
Damn guys, good team. The goalie reshuffle is doing my head in. Had the perfect plan to bring in Kun. It’s completely ruined now.
Raz you still have cash in Haz & San to use for your upgrd.
Sanchez has great fixtures. Welly and Giroud returning ain’t good though.
Yes thk your right Giroud up front does effect Sanchez but I just have a feeling & I don’t have Costa otherwise I would go with him 😉
Was thinking Sanchez captain but it’s worrying me that CRY have a new manager thoughts please.
Either him or Ibra for me this GW, can’t really see it being a bad decision either way you go to be honest.
Read the captain article. And Giroud starting upfront in the last game didn’t really help. And ummm Arsenal are a weird team. Seen quite a few games of them which were not up to par.
I’m not all that bothered about whether Giroud plays or not really. Sanchez has been a fantasy asset for years now and this is the first season he’s been played as the out and out striker. Seemed to score plenty from out wide in years past! You just can’t stop him when he’s on it, regardless of where he plays.
By the way Red, what are your thoughts on Stanislas? Good fixtures and the best stats for a cheap mid. Better than ummm Philips. Purely, points per ratio.
I like Stanislas, Raz but I’d be concerned with his playing time and sharpness right now. I’d need to see him play a couple matches before I’d even consider him. This isn’t the time of year to take any chances imo, which is why I went for Chambers a couple weeks ago when I really wanted Friend. You need players that are nailed or you could get caught out with others being rested.
Hmmm, just read an article about Stanislas. Him saying he was very annoyed with being out for so long and that he noticed versus Chelski how hungry he was.
Raz, Stan was seriously considered for the site team this week. He very nearly made it too. I think he didn’t simply because of what Red said there.
Yeah, I know he won’t play full gametime. Hmm. It’s a hard one. Need to think ahead. Will do 2 hits this gameweek and 1 the next. If I get Lallana I need 2 this GW and 2 the next. Bit much. 😉
I’m capping Sanchez this week. for what it’s worth.. he consistently works harder than anybody else I’ve seen in the PL.. week in, week out… everybody gets unlucky at times but I’ve rarely seen a guy with an ethic like that.. in any job, anywhere.
contradict with Carroll (who I also own right now) who’s the last guy in the box on the attack past 2 weeks….. there’s a different kind of intelligence with him but i’m unimpressed by the way he plays the game. I’m all over Alexis.. try to follow the Chilean. few with that work ethic and instinct combined in football today…
Hey highaction the only person I’ve seen work harder was billywiz he never seemed to stop 😉 but yes really I agree with you.
