Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 23
Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 23 article. After a run of four successive green arrows, GW23 bucked the trend as we went Code Red with a score of 48pts, 2 better than the average but not enough to help our rank which fell to 31,908 from 24,291. Still, not a shocker by any stretch of the imagination. It was Alexis who rescued our game-week as his injury-time penalty secured him 16pts – of course we were lucky in that Giroud and Ozil were off the pitch, hence Alexis taking the penalty. The only other contributions of note were an assist and 2bpts for Kyle Walker, a clean sheet for the still alive Allan-Romeo Nyom and an assist for Erik Pieters. All the rest took the week off, so fully rested we are expecting great things from the bunch of lazy gits.
Transfers for GW23 – Sold Holebas and Lallana & Bought Coleman and Alli
Sometimes we argue, sometimes we agree. Sometimes we just go on debating for hour, after hour, after hour… #zzzzz In short we could have cut this 5 different ways. We had a decent bank (£2.2m) and two free transfers to burn. The irony of it all after hours of debate was that Giroud was the centre of attention in terms of who he would eventually (and inevitably) be transferred out for, yet he survived this week. Even after two transfers. We do have a plan for him though. In theory.
As for this week, Holebas is suspended but that’s not really why we sold him. But it helps, as it sort of is… The guy is a bloody liability. He may as well start every week with a -1 for a yellow. Plus Watford haven’t won a game since the 10th of December. And have kept just 1 clean sheet since GW10. Everton however, and Coleman in particular, seem to have turned a corner, they have 3 clean sheets in a row now, he personally has 33 points in 3 games. Our yellow friend has just 59 points for the entire season. Bandwagon jumping? You betcha! It’s no coincidence that his uptake in points has occurred since the Toffee’s switched formation and he was suddenly employed as a wing back in a 3-5-2 formation. He was born for this. He’s always been a winger at heart, in a full backs body. He’s always been good for a goal or an assist and that was from his full back position, we expect he will get even more in his new role.
The second one was where the debate really began! Giroud to Lukaku. Giroud to Kane. Giroud to anybody… Poor old Giroud was passed around like a cheap whore. Ultimately we decided he may well shaft Watford this week so we kept him, but boy was it a hard decision. We don’t like him long term, for many reasons, but he gets a stay of execution for this one. Instead we decided to go on the offensive and buy Alli. ‘Let’s attack’ was the call. Rather than be boring and keep Lallana with a difficult game we have decided to ‘go Spurs’ and go with another in form player. Young Alli has 8 goals since GW17, Liverpool as a team have only scored 12 in that time.
“Alli is on fire, plays Sunderland with no defence due to AFCON, injury, suspension & defection”. We aren’t quite sure on the defection issue but that statement nailed it. Welcome Alli.
THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR GW 23
Our Captain is Alexis Sanchez
There were inital votes for Dele Alli and Zlatan before Alexis ran away with the vote with three fans selecting him. Just do us a favour Alexis and don’t leave it so late this week – a nice assist and goal in the first half will calm our nerves….and save your three fans from ridicule and torture.
If for some reason Alexis doesn’t show, then Zlatan will step up as he is our vice captain.
If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.

Boom !
Ok folks I need some help.
My current squad is below. My concerns are,
Holebas
Lallana
Negredo
Giroud
Players that are on my wish list are,
Coleman
Eriksen / Kane
Lukaku??
As things currently stand I have 3 players who will feature in GW28. While I need to take this into account I’m not going to build a team around GW28.
So back to this weeks FT. My initial thought was to bank. My latest idea is to bring Lukaku in for Negredo. The problem with this is that I’m not sure I’ll want to keep Lukaku in my team until GW29.
I could bring Eriksen in for Lallana. The problem with this is that it rules out Kane as I’ll have 3 Spurs. It also means holding onto Negredo.
Another option is to bring Kane in for Giroud. The problem with this is that I’m not sure I want to sell Giroud ahead of the Watford game.
What do you guys reckon? Any suggestions?
Think I like the Lukaku move. Decent fixtures if Everton score it’s likely to be him. I like the Kane move also but that leaves you with Negredo still. As I said earlier I expect Liverpool to come good now everyone is back just not sure if it will be tomorrow night
I can cope with holding onto Negredo for one more GW. I could play 3-5-2 with him on the bench this week and turn him into someone like Carroll or Llorente next week
Ah yes just saw your midfield. That does work. Giroud will probably have to go soon anyway. Though personally I’m hoping Kun comes good and Kane blanks
Come with me on the Kane train…
I’m very tempted…
I have my ticket. It’s red hot. It’s hat-trick hot. May even cap him over Alli which is saying something!
Kane is a donkey with a beak. Get Luk and leave the 3rd Spurs space open.
Why leave the 3rd space open?
Can you afford Luk & Erik now?
I can if I sell Giroud & Lallana
But then you’re left with Negredo! And no Giroud vs Wstford.
Negredo to Luk for me this week Kop.
I suspect this will be a last minute transfer tomorrow evening
I’ll turn my phone off tomorrow
Ok I’ll email you so 😉
Hahaha
Whatever happened to your Mirallas plan?!
I realised I couldn’t cope with him in my team for a lengthy period of time. He might come in for GW26
Don’t forget a certain J Ayew – worth a shout, apparently 😉
He’s on my watch list
Considering everything you’ve mentioned, I would bank it.
@Kop – this was meant for you,mate…
Not sure how it got here
Cheers doc
If my rank wasn’t so horrendous I’d probably bank it but I need to make things happen!!!
I think it’s a decent looking side for tomorrow….. but I do have 1 FT and 1.1 itb… Play Defoe over Allen? or PVA over Adam Smith? or make another transfer which could be loads of fun? I love the chaos of 7 matches at the same time…
I’d play Defoe. I reckon they’ll get hammered but Spurs still look susceptible at the moment. Everton certainly don’t.
+1 Defoe will be extra up for it against Spurs too. I’d stick with Smith as well.
Good point init… I feel like Allen is due but he’s been on my bench for weeks on end… Also the former club thing with Defoe, right? Think I’ll heed your advice..
Defoe has scored just once vs Spurs fyi
I’d play Defoe and Smith
and save transfer Smash?
Yeah I’d save transfer and do something with Giroud next week
I’d agree with lads and play Defoe ahead of Allen.
Thanks for all the replies guys.. team is sorted.. Defoe is in… now walk away from the computer.
Defoe – deffo !
Would you consider Smith AND PVA, benching Allen? Unconventional, but could work. Although the Spurs defence does indeed have a weak spot now.
Could I get some help please?
I guess Chambers or Holebas are the obvious ones to ditch. Im also conscious of GW 26 & 28. Would Nyom be a good replacement? It’d mean doubling up on the baggies, but perhaps that’s not such a bad thing given fixtures.
Any other defensive replacements? Excluding Yoshida 😉
Longer term I’m looking to ditch Kun & Giroud for Costa & Lukaku. One option would be Kun to either of those this week and go AOA?
HELP!
Thanks.
Kane’s on the shortlist too 😉
As you can tell, I have no sense of direction here!
Banjo, as Mito keeps telling us you don’t pick West Brom defenders for their clean sheets
What about Holgate and double up on Everton?
Cheers Kop. Is Holgate keeping his spot? Who would you ditch?
He’s done well enough of late so he should keep his spot. Of course that’s assuming Koeman continues with 3 at the back. I’d probably sell Chambers as we know Holebas will be back at the weekend.
or double up on Everton in the back and do Holebas to Funes Mori or Hol/Chambers to Holgate?? or Nyom… i think i’d sort the defenders and see if Aguero pounces or not..
Thanks highaction. The defence is the obvious things to fix! Is Holgate a punt? Or nailed on starter?
Hard to tell.. but with 2 clean sheets running it’d be hard to change things if you were Koeman….
Kun to Kane probably make sense and releases the funds for the future moves. That said I’d want Kun at home to Swansea come the weekend!
Only problem with Kun to Kane is I’ve got no route to Costa. With Alli there I’d like Chelsea cover, and none better than Costa!
I’d be happy with either. Spurs obviously have the easier game on paper but we’ve all seen Liverpool trying to defend recently.
I’m thinking more long term. Surely the defence should be my priority this week. Can’t decide whether to ship Chambers or Holebas. Think I’m gonna take a punt on Holgate.
Stick with Kun or just get in Kane and be done with it!!
Surely you need to give Kun a chance?
I’m sticking with Kun. Hoping Kane blanks. But yeah it’s a massive concern
Smash – I think Kane is coming in mate!
