Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 23
Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 23 article. After a run of four successive green arrows, GW23 bucked the trend as we went Code Red with a score of 48pts, 2 better than the average but not enough to help our rank which fell to 31,908 from 24,291. Still, not a shocker by any stretch of the imagination. It was Alexis who rescued our game-week as his injury-time penalty secured him 16pts – of course we were lucky in that Giroud and Ozil were off the pitch, hence Alexis taking the penalty. The only other contributions of note were an assist and 2bpts for Kyle Walker, a clean sheet for the still alive Allan-Romeo Nyom and an assist for Erik Pieters. All the rest took the week off, so fully rested we are expecting great things from the bunch of lazy gits.
Transfers for GW23 – Sold Holebas and Lallana & Bought Coleman and Alli
Sometimes we argue, sometimes we agree. Sometimes we just go on debating for hour, after hour, after hour… #zzzzz In short we could have cut this 5 different ways. We had a decent bank (£2.2m) and two free transfers to burn. The irony of it all after hours of debate was that Giroud was the centre of attention in terms of who he would eventually (and inevitably) be transferred out for, yet he survived this week. Even after two transfers. We do have a plan for him though. In theory.
As for this week, Holebas is suspended but that’s not really why we sold him. But it helps, as it sort of is… The guy is a bloody liability. He may as well start every week with a -1 for a yellow. Plus Watford haven’t won a game since the 10th of December. And have kept just 1 clean sheet since GW10. Everton however, and Coleman in particular, seem to have turned a corner, they have 3 clean sheets in a row now, he personally has 33 points in 3 games. Our yellow friend has just 59 points for the entire season. Bandwagon jumping? You betcha! It’s no coincidence that his uptake in points has occurred since the Toffee’s switched formation and he was suddenly employed as a wing back in a 3-5-2 formation. He was born for this. He’s always been a winger at heart, in a full backs body. He’s always been good for a goal or an assist and that was from his full back position, we expect he will get even more in his new role.
The second one was where the debate really began! Giroud to Lukaku. Giroud to Kane. Giroud to anybody… Poor old Giroud was passed around like a cheap whore. Ultimately we decided he may well shaft Watford this week so we kept him, but boy was it a hard decision. We don’t like him long term, for many reasons, but he gets a stay of execution for this one. Instead we decided to go on the offensive and buy Alli. ‘Let’s attack’ was the call. Rather than be boring and keep Lallana with a difficult game we have decided to ‘go Spurs’ and go with another in form player. Young Alli has 8 goals since GW17, Liverpool as a team have only scored 12 in that time.
“Alli is on fire, plays Sunderland with no defence due to AFCON, injury, suspension & defection”. We aren’t quite sure on the defection issue but that statement nailed it. Welcome Alli.
THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR GW 23
Our Captain is Alexis Sanchez
There were inital votes for Dele Alli and Zlatan before Alexis ran away with the vote with three fans selecting him. Just do us a favour Alexis and don’t leave it so late this week – a nice assist and goal in the first half will calm our nerves….and save your three fans from ridicule and torture.
If for some reason Alexis doesn’t show, then Zlatan will step up as he is our vice captain.
If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.
Crystal Palace are apparently interested in signing Mamadou Sakho with some reports suggesting they’ve lodged a formal bid.
I can’t see the two clubs agreeing on a fee.
They won’t – Liverpool is asking too much.
Can’t see that one happening,tbh…
While, this one actually might :
“Crystal Palace are weighing up a move for Uruguay defender Martin Caceres, 29, who is a free agent after leaving Juventus last summer. ”
These ones are also interesting potential moves for me :
-Leicester want to sign Middlesbrough’s Gaston Ramirez, 26
-The Saints are close to agreeing a deal to sign Italy forward Manolo Gabbiadini, 25, from Napoli for £17m
Hello guys, with 0ft and 1.1m itb I might need to take a hit with holebas not playing and Evans, Amat unlikely to feature as well.
Can’t decide if I should go for a like for like replacement for either Evans or holebas or upgrade one of them as I’m also thinking of upgrading my Gk in coming weeks but might only be able to upgrade either one unless I do a Aguero>Costa after the Arsenal game.
Any recommendations?
coys,
Where you go with this defensive move largely depends on your striker options going forward I think.
If you want to do Kun to Costa soon then I would grab Coleman.
What are your plans for Giroud? If you are looking to upgrade or downgrade may also dictate whether you go for a Coleman type or someone on a budget level….ie Yoshida.
Went for Coleman in the end! Will evaluate my forwards this week! Cheers ^_^

How about dealing with the Amat non-playing problem by bringing in Phil Jones? Holebas and Evans should be OK in the long run.
I’m not convinced with Giroud esp with Welbeck and Walcott fit again. I think he’s my 2nd most urgent issue but I won’t have money itb to upgrade unless I downgrade kun>costa but again will depend on how kun performed this week. Costa for me is essential tho. I’m just not sure about upgrading/downgrading Giroud. Thanks for the inputs guys! Much appreciated
I think it’s fine to leave Giroud in for one last week and assess the Walcott situation. Perhaps sort out your defence first? Bring Coleman/Brunt in?
Hi all, many thanks to everyone who wrote articles for this GW.
I’ve seen some talk about Mirallas, and I was planning to bring him in myself for this GW as a matter of fact, but then I got the idea of doubling up with Coleman and Baines instead (I currently own Baines and Lukaku). So I’m curious, which trio do people prefer between Baines, Coleman, and Lukaku and Baines, Mirallas, and Lukaku?
I would get someone like Lanzini or Stanislas instead of Mirallas, and Coleman would come in for Cedric.
Hey Tekkers how are you mate?
I think I just prefer the double up in defence with Coleman seeing as though he is producing such impressive returns offensively. Plus his cs potential. And also he is hugely unlikely to be hauled off after 58mins cos he is playing rubbish!
Mirallas is better looking though.
That’s up for debate Cookie.
#colemanswoon :kissheart:
Ah c’mon GP, we’re talking the Greek Adonis here!
The Belgian one? 😉
possibly 😉
Belgian? Greek?
It’s all Dutch to me. 😉
I would go Mirallas as I see no need to remove Cedric as of now
1. Hold the FT (0.2 ITB)
2. Shift out one of the defenders for Coleman/Brunt
3. Take a hit to remove Lallana for Eriksen/Sterling
Thanks in advance all!
P.S. Captain would either be Alli/Sanchez/Kun
Definitely hold the FT
Is Kun playing?
Can anyone tell me which teams are playing gw 26 and gw 28?
Also think I am going to take a hit and get rid of Aguero for Kane and captain him to minimize the damage and maybe get Kun back later! No cover for Spurs will kill me against Sunderland but love Aguero too
Hey Snookie – the only matches NOT being played in GW26 are:
Southampton vs Arsenal
Manchester City vs Manchester United.
The other eight games are still being played.
**************************************************
GW28
The matches definitely being played in GW28 are:
Bournemouth vs West Ham
Everton vs West Brom
Hull vs Swansea
The other matches will depend on the results of the 5th round FA Cup matches, the draw for which is below:
Burnley vs Lincoln
Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur
Blackburn Rovers vs Manchester United
Sutton United vs Arsenal
Middlesbrough vs Oxford United
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea
Huddersfield vs Manchester City
Millwall vs Leicester City or Derby County
As you can see all the Premier League teams have been bizarrely kept apart in the draw, raising the possibility that GW28 will be decimated in terms of Premier League matches.
Thanks Cookie when are these matches?
Snookie
The FA Cup Fifth Round is scheduled for the weekend of 17th – 20th February.
Thanks GP
I need to get defender with my ft
I have jones mculey chambers amat holebas
I will sell chambers and will have 5.6
Who to get considering blanks
Is it wise to spend all money for baines coleman or get cheap one
Is holegate risk or other options?
mahelmy
Get an Everton defender mate. Best options for now by the looks of it.
Holgate risk?
For me yes. If I was in the market, I would pick Coleman first and then Baines.
