Welcome to the Fantasy Football 247 Site Team Gameweek 23 article. After a run of four successive green arrows, GW23 bucked the trend as we went Code Red with a score of 48pts, 2 better than the average but not enough to help our rank which fell to 31,908 from 24,291. Still, not a shocker by any stretch of the imagination. It was Alexis who rescued our game-week as his injury-time penalty secured him 16pts – of course we were lucky in that Giroud and Ozil were off the pitch, hence Alexis taking the penalty. The only other contributions of note were an assist and 2bpts for Kyle Walker, a clean sheet for the still alive Allan-Romeo Nyom and an assist for Erik Pieters. All the rest took the week off, so fully rested we are expecting great things from the bunch of lazy gits.

Transfers for GW23 – Sold Holebas and Lallana & Bought Coleman and Alli
Sometimes we argue, sometimes we agree. Sometimes we just go on debating for hour, after hour, after hour… #zzzzz In short we could have cut this 5 different ways. We had a decent bank (£2.2m) and two free transfers to burn. The irony of it all after hours of debate was that Giroud was the centre of attention in terms of who he would eventually (and inevitably) be transferred out for, yet he survived this week. Even after two transfers. We do have a plan for him though. In theory.

As for this week, Holebas is suspended but that’s not really why we sold him. But it helps, as it sort of is… The guy is a bloody liability. He may as well start every week with a -1 for a yellow. Plus Watford haven’t won a game since the 10th of December. And have kept just 1 clean sheet since GW10. Everton however, and Coleman in particular, seem to have turned a corner, they have 3 clean sheets in a row now, he personally has 33 points in 3 games. Our yellow friend has just 59 points for the entire season. Bandwagon jumping? You betcha! It’s no coincidence that his uptake in points has occurred since the Toffee’s switched formation and he was suddenly employed as a wing back in a 3-5-2 formation. He was born for this. He’s always been a winger at heart, in a full backs body. He’s always been good for a goal or an assist and that was from his full back position, we expect he will get even more in his new role.

The second one was where the debate really began! Giroud to Lukaku. Giroud to Kane. Giroud to anybody… Poor old Giroud was passed around like a cheap whore. Ultimately we decided he may well shaft Watford this week so we kept him, but boy was it a hard decision. We don’t like him long term, for many reasons, but he gets a stay of execution for this one. Instead we decided to go on the offensive and buy Alli. ‘Let’s attack’ was the call. Rather than be boring and keep Lallana with a difficult game we have decided to ‘go Spurs’ and go with another in form player. Young Alli has 8 goals since GW17, Liverpool as a team have only scored 12 in that time.

“Alli is on fire, plays Sunderland with no defence due to AFCON, injury, suspension & defection”. We aren’t quite sure on the defection issue but that statement nailed it. Welcome Alli.

THE NEW TEAM IN FULL FOR GW 23

Our Captain is Alexis Sanchez
There were inital votes for Dele Alli and Zlatan before Alexis ran away with the vote with three fans selecting him. Just do us a favour Alexis and don’t leave it so late this week – a nice assist and goal in the first half will calm our nerves….and save your three fans from ridicule and torture.
If for some reason Alexis doesn’t show, then Zlatan will step up as he is our vice captain.

If anyone is interested in following the site teams progress then you can do so here and we wish you all the best of luck this week with your own teams.

Good morning all. I had to use my FT earlier to do lallana to alli. So now i Have 1.8 ITB & 0 FT left. Now friend’s injury had sent my bench to hospital. So not happy with it and confused with the following transfer options:

    1. amat/friend to brunt
    2. diomande to llorente/gray/carroll
    3. play alonso and no hit

another cliched important question: who is the best captaincy option?
    1. ibra
    2. sanchez
    3. alli
    4. kane

Any suggestion regarding the team would be very much appreciated.

Morning all! Nice to have the prospect of the league back… Thanks to those who already commented: trying to decide on a transfer strategy. Current team is in the photo, my thoughts are:

    a) Holebas + Sanchez + Defoe > Holgate + Eriksen + Ibra (leaves 0.8m in the bank, -4pt)
    b) Holebas + Sanchez + Defoe + Giroud > 3.9 chump + Eriksen + Ibra + Lukaku (leaves 0 in the bank, -8pt
    c) Holebas + Sanchez + Defoe + Giroud > Holgate + Eriksen + Kane + Lukaku (leaves 0.3 in the bank, -8pt)

The first leaves me with Ibra and Giroud to get rid of before GW26, the second just Ibra, the third nobody. But an 8pt hit seems silly, so option A is my preferred one. Losing Sanchez is obviously a problem, but if Giroud leads the line Sanchez’s points are reduced anyway, so it’s perhaps a gamble worth taking. And getting Ibra and Eriksen in this week for the slaughter of Hull and Sunderland seems smart to me. Any thoughts?

Hey Pippin how much in the bank ??

      • Pippin says:

1.2m. It’s not quite enough for good pairs of transfers, e.g. I’m 0.1m short of Firmino + Giroud > Eriksen + Lukuka or Holebas + Firmino > Coleman + Eriksen

        • Brookyboy says:

I tend to agree with Cookie and Kop.I understand you are chasing in your mini leagues but sometimes you can chase too hard !! I’d get rid of Holebas for a cheap defender who preferably plays gw 26 and 28 and who can ride your bench in between so i’d go for Holgate then roll the other transfer over and do Giroud to Lukaku next gw.Give Firminho the next 2 and reassess and maybe swap out for Snodgrass,Antonio or Siggy who all have games in gw 26 and 28.

Please, don’t sell Sanchez. At least not anytime till GW 26.

If you were to upgrade your forward lines ie Giroud to Kane/Ibra, the only player I can see shifting and making way is Firmino. That being said, I think he’d do well against Chelsea tonight, not too sure why but just a gut feel 😉

I think the best move would be something like what Cookie said, not sexy but at least you use 1 transfer. Holebas to Yoshida is probably the best move I can think of right now, or double up on Everton (Holgate) to build up a squad for GW 26/28

Hi all…here’s my squad. I’m happy enough with my squad for the time being but I know changes will be needed soon with fixtures being moved etc. Anyone have any ideas on what I could possibly do? Any comments appreciated
