Fantasy Football FF247 Team Gameweek 11
Could’ve been better, could’ve been worse just about sums up our performance in GW10. We ended the game-week on 57 points which was 11 above the average. The accolade of weekly top scorer was shared between Tim Krul and Sergio Aguero, both of whom managed just 8 points. Our total of 57 points really was underpinned by our defence with Krul (8), Alderweireld (6), Baines (7), and Taylor who climbed off our bench also chipping in with 6 points, meaning the four of those accounted for 27 points. Moving onto our midfield and the ever dependable Cesc Fabregas pitched in with 6 points thanks to yet another assist and a solitary bonus point. Our remaining midfielders were a disappointment with Di Maria, Siggy & Tadic amassing a combined total of just 7 points. Moving onto our forward line and the returning Diego Costa who was also our captain managed a massively disappointing 4 points, while the underwhelming Danny Welbeck weighed in with 5 points thanks to an assist. Thanks to the only goal of the Manchester derby Aguero picked up 8 points but if Michael Oliver understood what a penalty was the Argentine would have had a significantly greater haul. The derby brought our interest in GW10 to a close a we had no representation in the remaining two games. Unfortunately our score of 57 points saw us slip to 2,197th in the world which is still an excellent ranking, but we set ourselves some lofty standards! We hope GW11 may see us back into the top 1k once again, at least!
Transfer for GW11
This week’s transfer meeting was one of the easiest we have had this season, one of us suggested this particular player and the rest of us agreed, if only everything in life was so simple! We can now confirm that we have;
Sold Danny Welbeck and replaced him with Diafra Sakho
The Arsenal man has been somewhat of a disappointment since we transferred him in when playing our wildcard back in GW4. In the subsequent games he scored twice & claimed two assists and we expected more from him, playing as the lone striker ahead of such a talented midfield. As we’ve already indicated, the decision to replace him with Sakho was quite an easy one. The Hammers striker has been in scintillating form of late with five goals and two assists in his last six appearances. Obviously he missed last week’s draw away to Stoke due to an injury, but he returned to full training on Thursday and we suspect and expect Big Sam will be keen to get him back into the starting XI this weekend.
The starting eleven picks itself this week. We’ve gone with Krul in goal away to West Brom as Mannone has lost his place in the Sunderland side, but it’s unlikely we’d have played him anyway as Sunderland face Everton. At the back Alan Hutton is injured while Liam Moore appears to have lost his starting spot at Leicester, so that leaves us with Baines, Alderweireld and Taylor. Once more, George Boyd is the odd man out in midfield.
Captain
Unlike the decision to transfer in Sakho, the decision on who to give the armband to led to a heated debate (argument) and some wildly inaccurate stats being hurled around the office! It was a straight choice between Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero. Aguero faces second from bottom QPR but City have been far from convincing as of late and QPR have showed signs of improvement. The deciding factor in the decision was Crystal Palace’s away form, in five matches away from Selhurst Park this season they have conceded 11 goals. We also feel that Palace will sorely miss their captain Mile Jedinak, while United will be desperate to get back to winning ways. The fact that ADM is also on most set pieces helps. That and no European adventures midweek swung it in his favour.
Our captain this week then is Angel Di Maria.
Our vice captain is Sergio Aguero.
And in text format as promised –
Krul
Alderweireld, Taylor, Baines
Di Maria (c), Fabregas, Sigurdsson, Tadic
Sakho, Costa, Aguero (vc)
Subs: Boyd, Moore, Hutton (gk Mannone)

Hi, please help me to decide who to captain and is it best Starting 11?
have no idea this week, thanks!
Tough call between Austin/Sterling & Siggy. However, I would go with it as it is mate.
I wouldnt have Heaton as my captain though
Aguero cap and Pelle as vice
Captain Pelle and vice Aguero. Though Sterling is better on paper than Austin, you’re probably more likely to get points out of Austin, especially on his current form and Man City’s weakened defence with no Kompany.
I think I will go with Pelle (C) and Aguero (VC), had it like this all week. Austin on fire, so will leave him in, Chelsea will play defensive game like always away from Bridge, so not many chances for Sterling. Siggy should get assist or even goal. Will see, like always something strange will happen again Thanks
Respect, that’s a really toughie who to bench. I may be wrong, check with B-Bash and Elle but isn’t Liverpool’s record in early kick offs pretty good? Plus the one thing that can hurt Chelsea is
pace, I may be tempted to play Sterling you know. But it’s a very tough choice!
Morning Cookie. I dont tend to like Liverpool having the early kick off, as I often find the opposite. 2 this season have got us 1 point.
Austin over Sterling was the one I was struggling with too!
There you go Respect, listen to B-Bash!
I’d captain Pelle and play Sterling but it’s hard to say who’ll score highest of Austin, Sterling and Chester.
Personally I think I would start Sterling over Austin, It’s a tight call though, as for captain you have three obvious choices, Sanchez, Pelle and Aguero, I have all these players also and I’m putting my armband on Aguero. You can make arguments for all three , I just have a gut feeling Aguero might have some fun at QPR and get City’s title race back on track.
Will I leave like this so?
Mickey, everything turn out ok last night mate?
Yes thanks buddy, but he’s in serious trouble with his mum, and his Xbox been confiscated!
You’ve probably selected your best XI, for captain I’d suggest Pelle or Aguero
Morning all, just a bit of reassurance here, which 2 to play out of Wilson, Duff, Chambers or Taylor(swans) to go with Baines ?
Duff and Chambers.
Morning Elle! How you doing matey?
Chambers and Duff for me mate. I prefer Taylor, but it seems a bit counter productive to have the 2 defs playing each other.
Cheers Swirls + Basher. Off to the game in a bit, how come you couldn’t get a ticket Bash ? Cookie as to your post above, we are not playing well at all, we couldn’t score last season against Chelski with SaS, so theoretically we won’t today. Sterling is due a good game but that may come with the return of Sturridge, its a tough call for Respect, having a cracking front 8, he has to make a decision every week.
The lad who has my season ticket was far too reluctant to return it to me for this game Elle. I’ve got tickets for the Stoke game on the 29th Nov. Taking my daughter for the first time! Hopefully we will be playing something like by then and Sturridge will back. Hoping for a diamond today and try and get something out of it. Payback for the ‘slip up’ last time! If he goes with the diamond, I may well owe Cookie and Respect an apology!
Bash, i miss the Stoke game, Mrs got a dog show, so i’ll have the little fella.
Who to captain?
Pelle has a great fixture, team in full swing.
ADM has the best fixture offensively, not been picking up points lately.
Aguero is playing a side who look to be strengthening, City looking weak without their spine but Aguero will always make chances and has very impressive chance/touches in the box totals.
Hazard is playing a defensively weak side, quite risky as a captain, a bit like Silva.
Sakho is just back from injury, great team to play against though.
I’d keep that as is, personally.
Thanks, who are you giving the armband to swirly?
AT
Before captain I have to ask about Wally, why you take him in so soon? I’m going with Pelle personally, but I imagine ADM and Aguero will be on the score sheet at some point, so it’s personal preference I guess.
duthers, wanted to get out Sterling and only had 10,2. Walcott best option really haha.
AT
In a similar situation with Sterling, this is my current side, do I go for it?
Tricky one duthers, I sort of panic bought him on Sunday night haha. Wenger has said he is able to start although don’t expect him to play near his best for the next two months (although his 11 minutes were pretty explosive so that is probably just an attempt to defend a bad pass or two he makes).
Very tricky decision although I can’t see Pool scoring at Chelsea if that is any help.
Siggy vs Downing….fight!
Di Maria or Aguero for captain?
Check the poll.. Aguero
Calvs, some idiot could have just sat there for 10 minutes just viting for Aguero lots of times.
Why have it at all then? 😛 But in that case, if in doubt check out the Captains Picks article.
Current side- someone talk me out of taking in Walcott for Sterling? I fear if I wait till after the International break, I won’t be able to afford him. However on the other hand he’s about 30 minutes in 10 months
Keep Sterling for today, transfer Wally in tonight, his price can’t possibly rise till 2am Sunday morning (uk time).
Elle
If he comes on as a sub, I imagine he wouldn’t go up over the International break (hopefully), I’ll probably stick with sterling, cheers
Duthers, too early yet mate!
B-Bash
I’m getting too excited about him! Will stick with Sterling, cheers
I dont blame you mate. He’ll be straight in my team when he’s starting regularly! He is FPL gold!!
Those memories of that game against Newcastle *drools*
