Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16
GW1 is live! What better way to kick off the season than with a lunch time match up with 4th place implications written all over it. United will look to secure an early 3 point advantage over perennial Europa League participators, but non-contenders to win, Spurs. At 3pm we have 4 games on the menu. Recently promoted Bournemouth carry the hopes and dreams of many FPL investors as they take on Sherwood and the Benteke-less eleven. In another game that features a recently promoted side, Watford travel to Goodison Park where Everton will be playing for the only 3 points they stand a chance of winning until Christmas. In an early relegation battle we see the Foxes welcome the Black Kitties from Sunderland. If that wasn’t enough of a preview of the probable bottom of the table this season in the 3pm games, we add the also promoted Canaries to the fray, who play host to the Liverpool dream killers, Crystal Palace. In the last game of the day, Chelsea will look to continue taking the manhood away from Swansea as they look to humiliate the Swans with another pasting similar to those of last season.
On Sunday we have three fixtures. Arsenal will look to impress and have all Gooners excited and proclaiming them Champions after week one. Saints (the Liverpool B team) will travel to Newcastle and hope to make their mother club proud, with an away win. Speaking of mother, Liverpool will travel to Stoke where they look to exorcise their demons and by that I mean the memory of Glen Johnson.
The game-week finishes off with the Baggies looking to stop the vaunted City attack with a taller, wider custom made bus. Can’t wait to see the twitterverse explode about Sterling and proclaim the investment on him a complete failure or success based on one half.

MOTD FPL Watch:
– Leicester vs Sunderland:
Leicester: Vardy, Albrighton & Mahrez all very lively!
Sunderland: Defoe got chances, creation from the wingers was decent in the second half. Defensively shocking, changes likely with perhaps captain O’Shea to get back in the team, also Matthews came on for Jones in the 54th minute who was poor so I’d expect him to start against Norwich in already a must win game.
– Chelsea vs Swansea:
Chelsea: Defensively sloppy, headache for Courtois owners! Costa start was the only surprise in an attack that never got going and were lucky to get two goals on the board.
Swansea: Gomis and Ayew both got a lot of chances at the home of the champions and there isn’t a harder ground to go to so they’ll be on many radars now.
– Norwich vs Palace:
Norwich: Defensively poor and so wasteful in attack. Would imagine Redmond will get a starting spot after his goal
Palace: Cabaye!!
– Everton vs Watford:
Everton: Poor all round, Lukaku assist will ease some woes. Mirallas faking an injury. Barkley with a wonder goal and looked the best player from his team, watch list!
Watford: Great fight. Juardo at 5.5m could provide value. Deeney’s work rate will see him obtain a very respectable points haul this season. Ighalo with a very well taken goal and at 5m could be a decent third striker in 3-5-2 teams as he is unlikely to be a starter but could become somewhat of a super sub.
– Bournemouth vs Villa:
Bournemouth: Disappointing start with many having a defender and also Ritchie / Wilson. Were creative but also wasteful in the final third, hopefully just down to opening day nerves.
Villa: Solid, albeit against a newly promoted team. Richards is their leading rock at the back. Sinclair started up top but after his winner Gestede is more than likely going to lead the line against United and could be an FPL gem if he finds his feet. Ayew was however the one hauled off for Gestede so one would imagine Sinclair and Gabby will support him on Friday night!
– United vs Spurs:
United: Bulked up midfield provided solid protection for the back four in which Romero (5m) could prove to be a very cheap route into. Rooney unlucky not to get the goal which would have gotten him 3 bps also.
Spurs: Lacked creativity and will surely add another striker before the window closes. However, defensively (despite losing) they looked quite solid. Toby (5m) looks to be the safest route into their defense but Davies at 4.5m could prove to be a steal if he keeps Rose out of the team and they stay as rigid defensively as they were today.
Hope this is helpful to some!
Much appreciated, Rambo! Completely agree on Ayew and Gomis. I feel that Ayew is the most solid of them, but you just know that Gomis will get goals after seeing all his opportunities today. If only his finishing was better…
Sound, cheers mate
Rambo
Thanks for this
Rambo – I must admit that Ayew has caught my eye.
We’ll see what happens next.
Thanks for sharing this!
Brilliant stuff Rambo, nice one mate! Spoilt MOTD for me now though as I didn’t know the results!
Joking aside, lovely analysis and very helpful all round
Rambo,
Great analysis mate – Much appreciated. Are you covering MOTD2 as well? You are? Great! See you tomorrow! 😉
guys,
one question, why is 1 point deducted from Curtois due to 2 goals conceded? he conceded only 1… i’m just curious
Hi dawids, great question and spot but unfortunately them’s the rules mate!
thanks Init for your prompt answer.. the rules are the rules..
at least he suspended for only one match..
anyway not a good start of the new era
let’s hope for a better sequel
Yeah, gotta laugh really. I got no keeper now! Figured he was good for the season or at least until the next WC. Didn’t think my first transfer would be finding a new keeper. Oh well! Are you in the same boat?
well, i have Myhill as replacement but i have to bear some price decrease i guess.. besides the -2 points..

easy start would be just.. easy
how is your gw so far? do you have any hopes for tomorrow?
Init, im in the same boat. Im thinking better with a 0 point goalie and dont waste a transfer ( to get Kun in before gw4)
Transfering out Curtois will leave me with no Chelses defenders, wich meand i need to get a Azpi in ..
And then dumping a Midfeielder to afford Rooney to Kun 4 transfers in 3 gws :/
a -4 to get a goalie for 1 gw doesnt seem right
On 19 with 6 left. Could do with Mane and Pelle showing up and have Cedric in that one too and looking forward to the Arsenal game as I have Rambo going there as well as Bellerin. Sterling on Monday. We’ll see!
Hi Waffles, no a -4 is a defo no-no for a keeper! Chelsea have City next anyway so we would potentially be missing out on just a 2 pointer anyway so no biggie. Will have to look at my plan too and see if even a 1 FT is worth it for anyone. They’d have to be decent enough to stick around for a few weeks too so not sure it’ll happen. May just go with 10 too.
A player who is red carded still loses points after leaving the pitch, you can only stop losing points if you are substituted.
thanks Andy for you too..
i’m not that happy but it’s just 1 point
31 point with only 4 plyer to go.. Mert, cedric, wally and tekkers .. No capo left T_T
Brilliant yellow!
well the first day of matches is over, its good to have the epl back. How has every fantasy teams gone. for me i scored only 12 which is poor as last season i got off to a flyer. Had hennessy in goal and he did not play so i got no points for him. had the likes of hazard and ivanovic which both did not do much. still got walcott, milner, caulker, pelle and berahino to play. Im a bit concerned about having no man city players. Got alot of thinking to do for next gameweek and who to bring in with my 1 transfer.
Hi konrad
Still a lot of points could be gained today. I think you will want City coverage soon. Maybe after the Chelsea game next week.
Good luck for later today.
Anyone knows what is going on with Ulloa?
He’s the fox’s top goal scorer last season.
Too much headaches with Ranieri,Baker’s sherwood and Courtois’s suspension
Ouch. Leicester have a lot of forwards so there was always going to be rotation. Baker was always an outside bet of starting
Jonathan
Might be hard for the manager to change this team after a 4-2 win. But if any one can, the Tinker Man can
I’m sure he’ll see some game time soon but two very decent performances by Vardy and Okazaki yesterday.
