Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 10 – Fantasy Premier League 2014/15

Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 10The deadline bell has rung and your decisions are final – starting XI, order of your subs and most importantly your captain has been decided and there ain’t no turning back now…

GW10 begins at 12.45pm on Saturday as Newcastle host Liverpool in the early game.

There are then six 3pm games which feels like a treat for once with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Southampton all featuring, and they are in full –

Arsenal vs Burnley
Chelsea vs QPR
Everton vs Swansea
Hull vs Southampton
Leicester vs West Brom
Stoke vs West Ham

Sadly this week there is no Saturday evening game but we get back under way on Sunday with a cracker at 1.30pm with the Manchester derby as City host Utd.

Sundays action concludes with Aston Villa hosting Spurs at 4pm.

Monday evening sees Sunderland go to Crystal Palace at 8pm which may be the most uninspiring of climaxes ever but we don’t set the fixtutre calendar, unfortunately. Yet.

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck for GW9 from all at FF247!

MJH 38, Welcome to the site first of all. Taking a hit is going to be a big point of discussion this week. In particular because most of us are needing to raise money to get Sanchez in. I usually never advise anyone to take a hit unless they wont field 11 or is a double game-week, having said that…I will probably take a hit later this week to sell Sterling and buy Sanchez. I think your easiest route is by unfortunately selling Azpi. You have 4 capable defenders which means you can still field a good team with 3 defenders still left. You are going to get differing opinions on this, in the end it is up to you to figure out if you think is worth it. Obviously you know I think it will be if not this coming GW at the very least over the next couple of weeks.

Cheers Mito and Cody – guys, that was some really good advice though I kind of acted on impulse and did a straight swap Sterling to Downing. My thinking: Sanchez is in form yes but Swansea could be a difficult game plus I would think about getting in Walcott as a cheaper alternative when we know he has secure game time. Downing has some good fixtures and West Ham are a team in form atm.

My team now looks like this. Any thoughts?

I could still bring in Sanchez but would mean a -8 hit to take Siggy and Azp out? Is a -8 worth it? I’m top of my league with 70 point lead currently..

mjh – I agree with your transfer, Sterling -> Downing. I would leave it like that for this week. You’re right, Swansea is a pretty tough team for Arsenal, so it wouldn’t be a bad decision to wait until next gameweek to bring in Walcott or Sanchez!

    Afternoon all.

Do you think its safe to say that S Taylor is now part of the 1st choice CB pairing for newcastle?

Since he has come in to the team they have tightened up & had a few CS

At 3.9 he could be a bargin

    Sanchez Or di Maria?

Am I the only one NOT bringing in Sanchez this week? I’m beginning to wonder if retrospective points are awarded for getting him a week late such is the frenzy.

But in all seriousness, kudos to those here who are being creative with their transfer suggestions (i.e. not Chambers and Sanchez). It’s easy to tip after the horse has bolted, but finding the next big scorer is the real skill to FPL. Credit specifically to Kop, who over the past few weeks tipped the likes of Alexis, Gibbs, Mane and even Cisse ahead of their purple patch.

So to my team. Should I bring in Chambers and Sanchez for a 4pt hit?

      Cody says:

Bryan – Yeah I wouldn’t advice to get Sanchez in this week if a premium player is being sacrificed. I’ve had Sanchez for 2 weeks, so that’s a different story. You can’t stomp on all bandwagons though, they’re happening for a reason. The player is usually in form and that’s why. I brought in the 0.4% owned Walcott this week, hoping to be among the first to harvest his possible massive amounts of points. Haha

      • Hope that pays off for you Cody. I like gambles like that. Getting Walcott early last season before that GW where he caught most off guard had a big effect on my season.

Took a similar punt last week on Ramsey which failed miserably! haha

Form, that’s a funny thing for me. Form is all about the past, and we don’t get any points for that, I don’t even give credence to the maxim that ‘a player is only as good as his last game’. To me that’s BS, he’s only as good as is NEXT game.

Form is undeniably important for a guy’s morale, but all form must wane at some point and I think the best managers are those who try to avoid fashionable choices based on past events. Holy f*** I”m waffling. Sorry.

        • Mito21 @FantasyFooty247 says:

I like your thinking Bry, based on that I just bought Réveillere from Sunderland. Never heard of him? Me neither? But surely this is better than buying that fashionable bum Chambers. 😉

        • If that’s what you’ve read into my comments, that’s unfortunate.

Hope Reveillere pays off for you!

        • Mito21 @FantasyFooty247 says:

I wish you good luck also. 😉

        • Cody says:

Bryan – thank you, what made the Sterling -> Walcott transfer so easy is because Sterling isn’t delivering much anymore and I can’t see him delivering much in the near future with how Liverpool are playing. This makes my expectations for Walcott a lot lower for the first couple gameweels and every point coming from him will be much appreciated.

You’re absolutely right, what’s happened is in the past and it doesn’t play 100% into what’s going to happen in the future, but a player with confidence will play better than a player without. Very smart thinking man.

      chins says:

      Bry,

Get onto the newer thread. This one is sooo last week.

I’m struggling with Sanchez or not myself. If Arsenal are going 4-4-2 with him up alongside Welbs then i think his scoring well will continue. I was put off last week by seeing what a fluke his goals against Sunderland but now i’m not so sure. Plus Wallys return can only help provide more chances.

This could easy becomes last seasons Ramsey / Yaya situation. It won’t continue will it?? Nah…. Oh, he scored again. Shit. Yeah, but it won’t continue…. Oh shit. It did. And again. And again. Yep. Should’ve probably bought him before week 35….

That said, its Welbs and Hazard out for Downing and Pelle this week for me.

      • Great point about Yaya/Ramsey, Chins. They were bandwagons that I refused to get on out of sheer stubbornness. I’ll be the first to admit I still haven’t got the balance right yet after doing this for several years! 😉

You’re getting rid of Haz? I’m surprised about that. I think he’s about to peak.

        • chins says:

He may be about to peak Bry, but i just haven’t been all that impressed. He had that great chance to score last week when one on one with the keeper, but other than that he’s not driving into or across the area nearly as much as he did last season. Maybe its because of Costa that there is less space in the area, or maybe he now has a target and doesn’t have to do it all himself. Who knows.

Not doubting his ability at all, and him being on pens makes him more attractive, but…. Oscar has looked way more involved by playing the more central role. And Fab is still getting forward and acting as key assister for Costa. Anyone one of those 3 could have a monster week, and knowing my luck it’ll be Hazards turn this week.

Chasing down a 101 point gap in my money league may be influencing my thinking, but i’m going to play the fixtures this week. We all know that with Liverpools awesome defense, Chelsea will be lucky to even have a shot on goal…

Er, yeah, its a dumb move isn’t it?!

        • Mito21 @FantasyFooty247 says:

As funny as it is to watch Liverpool defend, they are not so bad at home. Only 4 goals allowed in 5 fixtures.

Afternoon all, my mids + forwards are :-
    Sterling, ADM, Fab, Siggy, Boyd.
    Costa, Kun, Berahino.
I have 2fts, so does Sterling + Costa out + Sanchez + Pelle in seem right ?

    • 216.1
      chins says:

No Elle. I think Costa should stay.
But seeing as i’ve just spent 30 mins rambling about playing the fixtures, maybe you could survive with just Fab as chelski coverage.

Yep. Changed my mind… Do it!

      Raziel says:

Terrible move Ell. Pelle just has 2 good fixtures left after that Soton have hellish fixtures up until GW24 or smt. First of February. I’m keeping Costa I will only sell him if he gets surgery done.

Trying to hold my FT and if things go as expect I will replace Pelle with Sakho (during International Break) and upgrade Tadic to Walcott.

Anyway, you can go with your move if your gut tells you to do so. I’m not replacing FPL gold because he did nothing in his first GW after coming back.

      • KungFuKingCantona says:

+1 Raz. And just looking at Southampton fix I thought you may be exaggerating, but then, they actually do have fixtures that may well bring them down from their “we play so good and we are all wondering howwe came second in the league” cloud. They have a very good team though. Could they cause some upset against the big guns? Mane and Tadic should maybe be your only Saints cover in the upcoming weeks since they are a cheaper alternative to Pelle.

        • Raziel says:

Against Hull Pelle only got 1 opportunity to score. Not going to risk it, I’ll try to buy back Soton coverage in February. From February onwards I know I’ll have 3 Soton players again though since I really do like their team this year. Top 6 material.

      • chins says:

        Raz,

If Southampton have 2 good fixtures left, why is it a terrible move to bring in Pelle now? Thats 2 games where he could score big.

He can be taken out if Elle doesn’t think he’ll score against the tougher teams in a few weeks time.

        • Raziel says:

I really don’t know mate. It’s usually not how I do my transfers. Shit always happens and I never have time to fix my bench (well maybe in January). If you start getting people you have to ship out soon later, that’s a hard one. On that note. For all we know he might do well versus the topteams (Pelle that is). Remember him scoring twice versus Ajax in his versus derby game in Holland when he was still playing at Feyenoord.

        • Raziel says:

And in all honesty only Leicester at home is a really good fixture. Aston Villa away can be hard if Villa play with 11 men and both Hutton plus Vlaar are fit.
