Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 20 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16
GW20 is live! And we are off, The Hammers take on Liverpool in a lunch time kickoff. Not sure what to expect from this one, after West ham ruined their perfect run of 5 straight games with a draw when they mistakenly beat Southampton on Monday. Three o’clock brings us six juicy fixtures. Chumpions-to-be Arsenal take on pushovers Newcastle, Leicester try to continue the magic carpet ride with Mahrez at the helm when they tackle The Cherries. Man United will look to continue their run of boring going, when they tangle with a perfect dance partner in Swansea, Zzzz. Norwich face off against a peculiar Saints side. Southampton has one win in their last seven and naturally they mauled Arsenal for that one. West Brom will look to contain the all of sudden potent Stoke attack and in other action or lack thereof we see a clueless Sunderland take on the dumbfounded Villa. In the last fixture of the day, Watford and City tangle and what most will hope turns into a shootout. Personally, I beg of you Ighalo, STOP SCORING!!!
Sunday sees two fixtures. The tough Palace defence looks to keep another clean sheet versus Chelsea and free scoring Everton battle it out with third place Spurs and what will be a duel between Lukaku and Kane.

Loads of Coutinho/Barkely to Payet, Willian, Alli and loads of Vardy to Ighalo/Costa/Kun out there.
Kun is still the main man, and with the upcoming fixtures, he’ll be a must have. I think City will destroy Everton at home. 5-2. Hatty KUN, KdB 1 goal and 2 assists. Kolarov goal and assist. No doubt. :p
In deed Raz and the good thing here is that UCL only starts on 16/02 given us 5 gw (3 at home) with no rest/rotation issues.
*giving!
Noticed we’re having two consecutive Spurs-Leicester games in 4 days! One for the FA cup, the other for EPL.
Mad to do Vardy and Lukaku out for Kane and Ighalo? Don’t really have the funds to do Vardy to Kane with two transfers any other way and don’t want to take a hit.
Lukaku had two difficult fixtures but worried that he has developed consistency and it could cost me.
Bought at £9.1m, current is £9.3m so not a disaster to buy back.
Thoughts?
Has**
from what I saw of the Eve Tott game Luka could’ve had a couple and is still getting in the right places, i think he has more goals to come. Yes, he’s next 2 fixtures are tough but after that he has 3 winnable home games in the next 4, i think i’m going to sit tight on him.
Could always by him back afterwards. Might go to United too! Hahah
Buy*!
Afternoon chaps;
0.7 in the bank. Vardy out for someone (options limited) or Hoolihan to Alli and keep Vardy on the bench.
Vardy to Igahlo would be my choice
There is no great replacement for vardy. Maybe bojan, just for this week…
Ighalo has some bad fixtures…
I would bring in Alli or Arnaoutovic…
1 each. Hmmm
Hi Milburn, not going to split the decision much here as I can see a good case for doing either. Ighalo has Southampton, Swansea and Newcastle so I’d consider those decent enough for him but then it turns decidedly harder for them with Chelsea and Spurs I think it is but you could certainly play him straight through those first three and then look to switch if need be. Trouble with the Alli one is that Vardy looks like being back for the Villa game from what I’ve read so you’d then have a choice to make as Spurs play Sunderland at home that week.
Better get my thinking cap on. Cheers init
About (possible) DGWs:
1) GW27 & Capital One Cup Final: Feb, 28
Max n.º teams blanking: 2 (City, Pool, Everton and Stoke involved atm)
2) GW30 & FA Cup 6th proper: March, 12
Max n.º teams blanking: 8 (all EPL teams involved atm)
3) GW35 & FA Cup Semi-Finals: April, 23
Max n.º teams blanking: 4
Looking at the international breaks and UCL/EL competitions it seems difficult to have a DGW before the mid week between GWs 34/35 (mid April). By then, a maximum of 10 teams could be involved in a DGW.
After that, the available midweek (at least for teams involved in euro competitions) is between GW37/38 (early May).
Of course it all depends on which teams will go through on the cups (England and Euro ones) but if the favourites (meaning Leicester, Watford and freaking Stoke !) prevail we are in for a treat!
Bottom line being, keep those damn chips as long as you can and specially DO NOT use your wildcard now because if you do that, not only you won’t take advantage of it when the time comes but also because you may be shipping in players who will blank on those 28, 30 and 35 GWs.
That’s my take on it anyway.
Good info, thanks. I am holding on to my wildcard and remaining 2 chips as long as possible. Hoping to have a late push using them. The bench boost and triple captain look like certainties to use on double game weeks.
@DMC, that’s my reading of it also. I have all the dates on all the different league/tournaments whatever and I don’t see any space for a double before 34. Some people might say 31, but I have that down as an International Break.
My only little concern is GW25. We find out the Capital One Cup finalists on Jan. 25th or so. Conceivably the teams that will get a blank in GW27, could be moved up to be part of a DGW in 25. I doubt they would with so little time and maybe there are restrictions on that make the small time frame impossible. But other than that remote possibility in 25, I see only 34 & 37 as possibilities.
Hi Mito, yep 21-29 March is an international break.
You are right, there is a gap between GW25 and 26 that could work but I don’t think it will happen there not only for the lack of anticipation you mentioned but also because I don’t think we’ve ever seen an anticipation for teams that will blank a GW. Also, if Liverpool is not one of the finalists, then midweeks after GWs 29 and 30 (only Europa League, no Champions) could work for those 2 capital one finalists.
The only other issue I see here are the euro competitions; it may well be that only City goes through to the quarter finals of UCL and if that’s the case midweeks after GWs 32 and 33 could also be suitable for DGWs involving arsenal and chelsea, if any.
@DMC there are TV restrictions on teams playing at the same time as European competition, doesn’t matter if the country has teams involved or not. Almost completely sure GW32-33 are off the table regardless of whether any EPL teams are still in it.
GW29 & 30 have the second legs of the round of 16, so that’s a no go also.
Mito – I see you. I wasn’t aware of those TV restrictions, but it does make sense. So, GW’s 34/35 and then 37/38 it is!
So if one of the teams in the Capital One Cup Final makes it to the FA Cup Semi-Finals, we could see a triple GW as they’ll have 3 matches to play in 2 midweeks?
@Tekno, I have looked at that possibility and that is the reason I pointed at GW25 as a small possibility. Because if we know that could conceivably happen to a team, then we know they know that. You just can’t have a team playing 5 games and possibly the FA cup final from May 7th to the 21th and expect them to perform. Particularly if it is a team in the title race, that would be terrible planning to make a team go through that. If Arsenal or City are somehow still about in the CL semis, even worse, because that means a midweek game right before GW37.
I actually think it could happen. Either that or move games to Friday (to start the GW) so they can play on a Monday of the same GW. All I know is pray (or whatever) that EPL teams advance as far as possible in everything, that way or WC will be a huge bonanza.
Good work!
cheers EBC
Thoughts on this line up please? Not sure whether to bench Walcott or someone else?
