Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 3 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16

Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 36GW3 is live! Well back to a Saturday kick-off. This time we are treated to a match-up between Man United and Newcastle. If United’s first two games are any indication, there should be no need to watch. Unless of course if you enjoy watching an Italian distract a man right before he hangs onto his neck. The rest of the Saturday games are all at 3pm. Villa travel to Selhurst Park for a meeting of the two best managers. We also see Leicester welcome the defensively interesting Spurs and by interesting we mean crap. The Canaries look to face an EPL team (Stoke) this week instead of the Sunday league team they faced the previous week. Hopefully we will see Kop’s favourite player, Shaqiri. Swansea travel to the Stadium of Light to collect 3 points and score about 5 goals. Payet takes on Bournemouth in the last of the 3pm games.

On Sunday we have three fixtures. The Baggies have the wounded Champions pay a visit, in a fixture to determine who is the better side of the ones that lost 3-0 to City. Everton will look to pose a threat to the Champions to be, as City pay the Toffees a visit in a fixture that pits two of the more exciting attacking sides so far. The Saints pay Watford a visit in the last of our Sunday games. Will Deeney finally score? Will Southampton finally look a respectable defensive side?

Monday night sees the game-week come to a conclusion. As Liverpool travel to the Emirates in what we all hope is the best fixture of the GW. We can’t wait to see Theo bag a hat trick, just like last week. #WengerKnowsBest

Don’t forget to also share any experiences if you are participating in any or several of the fanteam.com leagues. Remember scores update in real time, so don’t be shy and let us know how much you are in line to win.

    Hi folks,

Well the wildcard being played has paid off to a degree. Ended up with 47 points but would have been a lot less than that if I hadn’t. The only thing is it’d be 17 points higher if I’d played Hart, Gomez, Targett and Redmond instead of Mccarthy, Richards, Payet and Gomez! Add another eight points if I’d captained Mahrez instead of Aguero which is what it was before I got scared of not doing what everyone else was!

Ah well! Onwards and upwards! How has everyone else fared?

The bench decisions have been tough so far swirls, I think I had 20+ in GW 1 so it’s always liable to happen, I’d of had no problems at all with them picks before GW 3 started.

      • theswirly says:

Cheers, Andy! That does make me feel better about it! Such a rough start to the season. Hoping for a good GW4 – the fixtures of my players give me hope at least!

      • RedVT says:

It’s a horrible feeling leaving points on the bench, but I’d rather have a bench full of points than a bench full of crap players who won’t do well for you if/when you need to play them. I went with Kompany and Whittaker with my WC team instead of Kolarov and Martin if it makes you feel any better Swirly! You can’t get every call right, but as long as you have a good team you will keep climbing. I made up 1.1 million places this week from a truly horrendous start, lol.

    Ruben says:

It’s so frustrating that we didn’t take the chances that were presented to us. 3 points away at the Emirates would’ve tasted so good!

On the other hand, 1 point against one of the best teams in the league is never a bad result. We’re looking like a top 4 team right now in my opinion.

Good night all. You’ll never walk alone.

Moreno ended up with more BPS points than Benteke… that’s a weird system they’re using!

Hey Calvin, just wanted to say thanks for the kind words the other day about our soon to be new addition. I saw the post really late at night long after you wrote it and have been waiting to catch you online. Much appreciated man, thank you. smile

      • Calvin Clyne says:

Ah no worries Red smile I’m not always great at trawling through the old comments so if I don’t reply then it’s just cause I went to bed and missed it or something.

        • RedVT says:

Yeah, I figured. Just wanted you to know that I saw it! smile

How’d you make out this weekend? Things looking a bit better? Any big moves planned? I’m trying to be patient but I’d really like to get Pedro in this week. A home match against Palace could be another big haul for him.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Nothing great but green arrows all round at least, slowly rising. I also really want Pedro! I’m 0.6 shy of getting him in for Depay, and just don’t know where to get the extra cash from. See you’ve got Diouf; he’s looking like a solid option and with nice fixtures too, would love him as well but there’s just too many good players, can’t have ’em all!

        • RedVT says:

Definitely happy with Diouf Calvin, he scooped up all 3 BPS too last match. The only guy in my side that I’d sacrifice for Pedro is Payet, and I’m .5 short on that move. If I’m willing to take a hit for it I could downgrade Kompany to Kolarov or Hoolahan to a 4.5 mil midfielder and then do Payet to Pedro. All the sane people on the boards are trying to talk sense to me and discourage that though, lol.

I really feel like Pedro could cover a 4 point hit this week though!! What do you think? Be patient and get him with 2 FT next week?

I just looked at your team, with your 3-5-2 you’d have to downgrade Payet for a little cheaper 5th mid to get the $ for the Depay–> Pedro move I think. But there are some pretty decent choices in that 6.5-7.0 range. Or just throw a 4.5 guy in there for Payet for 1 week and then upgrade your 3rd striker a bit.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Red if I do get Pedro then I can’t see me keeping the 3-5-2 as I don’t want to lose Benteke at the moment. The only mid I am happy to lose just now is Depay but I think Pedro could be that much better that it does allow for losing Payet too as you said. I think he’s looked great so far, but as he’d allow Pedro AND Diouf, I’m strong considering making all 3 moves for a -8…

        • RedVT says:

Geez Calvin, if you’re gonna take a -8 then my -4 doesn’t sound too bad at all!! Hell, 20 more minutes of this and we’ll talk ourselves right into it! laugh

I’m at least going to wait as long as possible before the deadline to do anything, just to make sure there are no injury surprises and so I don’t do anything rash. But going back to a 3-4-3 with Pedro and Diouf doesn’t sound like a terrible idea for you. I would just be a little put off by the -8. Can you live with just Pedro and a new 5th mid this week and get Diouf the following week? Maybe play a 4-4-2 or something? -8 seems like a lot of points to give away, especially if you’re in any H2H leagues.

If you had to choose between swapping Kompany out for Kolarov or Dropping my 5th midfielder Hoolahan down to a 4.5 guy, which would you do to raise the .5 I need for Payet to Pedro?

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Yeah, well, that’s just like, your opinion, man laugh

Let’s see here, that’s a real tough one and I was debating the same thing last GW while on my WC. In the end I ended up going for the uber cheap Sagna over both of them as he should be good for another 2 or 3 GWs at least. It’s really hard to see how Kolarov can be dropped given the start he’s had, but Prem managers rarely tend to think logically so it would be surprising if Clichy doesn’t play at some point sooner rather than later.

If you had no plan to play Hoolahan in your first 11 anyway then I’d probably go for him to be the one dropped. I will be getting Westwood (4.5) in most likely to facilitate my moves.

In fact I think I’ll either be making no transfers or a -4 now. I am not willing to just do one as it would be either Payet or Depay to Westwood, and then I’d have to play him or Watmore :-/ So probably will do Depay and Watmore to Westwood and Diouf and see how Pedro fares at the weekend. Subject to change though! Still haven’t seen all of last GW’s games yet..

        • RedVT says:

          Haha, nice Lebowski reference!! laugh

I didn’t think too many people would catch it actually. I know you’re an expat so you’ve seen more of our fabulous (!) US culture than most, but do people in the UK even watch that shit? Although I watch tons of British TV series and movies, so I suppose it probably works the other way too.

Yeah, I guess Hoolahan could go and Westwood would be my first choice for a 4.5 player too. I do kind of like having a 5th mid that could be fielded if needed, but Kompany could score next week and I’ll wish I had him back- plus he’s definitely more nailed. Stealing money from my bench is probably smartest.

I think you’ll be happy with Diouf whenever you end up getting him. He looks like he could score a few every match, always seems to be involved right in front of goal.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Well movies have been known to find their way across the pond from time to time…! I saw it and many many others before moving here smile Good to hear you’ve seen some of our stuff too smile

Yeah I’ve always been an advocate of having a slightly-better-than-dirt-cheap 5th mid, but for some reason this year I have already found myself priced out of a bunch of moves I wanted to make so Westwood it will have to be.

Where in the States are you? You on Whatsapp? It’s handy having contacts to help talk me out of things while most people here are sleeping hehe. If you’re on it and don’t mind adding me then send your number to jonsharpe86@gmail.com, but no worries at all if not!

        • RedVT says:

I’m up in the Northeast in Vermont. Home of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and soon to be elected President Bernie Sanders! lol. I don’t have Whatsapp right now but I can get it easily enough. I work evenings until midnight at the hospital in my city so I’m usually up late. I’ll check into it when I get home, just getting ready to head out of here now.

Have a good night mate, thanks for talking me out of a -4 hit (for now!). smile

        • RedVT says:

Btw, where are you at Calvin? I remember you went to one of the United matches this summer but don’t remember if you ever mentioned that before.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

Bernie seems to be the only sane one on the whole ticket, the rest are nuts!! Really hope he gets in but can’t see it from what little looking into things I’ve done.

        • Calvin Clyne says:

          Near San Francisco smile

    TomW13 says:

Got a bit of a transfer dilemma.

    A) Jenkinson – Kolarov + 0.8
    B) Jenkinson – Kompany + 0.2
    C) Mane – Yaya Toure + 0.6
    D) Mane – Coutinho + 1.2
    E) Jenkinson-Kolarov and Mane-Yaya for a hit.
    F) Jenkinson-Kolarov and Mane-Shaqiri for a hit

      Calvin Clyne says:

Tom don’t think the team you have linked is yours so can’t see who you have on the bench to replace Jenkinson while he misses GW4, but just looking at the options you have given then I’d say E) could actually be worth the hit, given the red card and also City’s great form and fixtures.
