Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 3 – Fantasy Premier League 2014/15
The deadline bell has rung, your team has been decided, your skipper chosen and there’s nothing else you can do about it, except sit back and hope you’ve selected well. All the matches take place at the weekend, no Monday night football this week and we kick off as Burnley entertain local rivals and current comedy outfit, Manchester United. Will the Red Devil’s new Angel inspire the team to a turnaround or will memories of Milton Keynes come back to haunt them? Five 3pm kick offs follow, while the early evening game takes place at Goodison as Everton host Chelsea. Three Sunday games follow, culminating with Leicester vs Arsenal.
Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.
Good luck for GW3 from all at FF247!

Hello everyone,
though the many WC discussions are very tempting, I would tend to keep mine for now.
Instead, I consider the following strategies:
A) GW4 ? GW5 Mata->7.5 mid GW6 Rooney->Aguero
+ ManU coverage for remaining easy fixtures, Kun accomodated after the difficult City fixtures, time to see how Liverpool organizes.
B) GW4 Mata->Silva, GW5 Rooney->Adebayor, GW6: fancy move with 2M extra money (Liverpool mid?)
+ City, Spurs and Pool coverage.
Both strategies (many more the first one) are probably not optimal for team value…
Would you choose one of these? Or WC immediately?
I’m fixing my defense first and don’t think I want to take hits.
I think it’s best to wc. My team is similar and I think I’ll WC. Mata, Rooney, Rio and Baird can all be replaced. And probably hazard and many more.
Moves don’t seem bad at all. Surely with that attack Rooney will start firing though.
Getting an itchy trigger finger, current team:
Krul/Foster
Caulker/Wisdom/Terry/O’Shea/Chambers
Ramsey/Lamela/Fabregas/Siggy/Kouyate
Aguero/Jovetic/Adebayor
Potential wc:
Same keepers
Caulker/Naylor/Duff/O’Shea/Wisdom
De Jong/Sanchez/Ramsey/Lamela/Siggy
Costa/Aguero/Ings
Saint sure you can still take those injuries into account while on WC. Time to roughen up the team mate ;-).
Think I’ll WC.
De Gea
Debuchy, Lovren, Caulker (Bruce, Wisdom)
Mata, Ramsey, Siggy, Mutch (El Ahamadi)
Rooney, Balotelli, Sturridge
To this?
Krul (foster)
Clyne, Dier, Duff (Wisdom, Bruce)
Ramsey, Silva, Sterling, Siggy (Cattermole)
Costa, Rooney/Sanchez , Balotelli.
Is it worth it?
Sanchez is listed as a mid so can’t be in second team.
Could you not just get Costa for Balotellli?
I mean I could get Sanchez and play 352 ! Sorry haha
I’d say no as I think the first team is actually better!
Really? What transfers would you make then? Mutch has to go I think.
De Gea and Lovren both have a few good fixtures ahead so no need to remove them from defence for now. Bruce should probably go (for Robertson if you can afford the price increase as I believe he’s playing in midfield now), but then you kept him in your WC team anyway so maybe you like him?
Mata could be changed for Silva/Fab/ADM. And Mutch and El Ahmadi do also warrant looking at, but unsure of your budget. I’d probably get in JWP/Barton/Rodwell for one of them, and another cheap player that starts.
I think Costa will punish you for not having him, but see how ‘Pool play before deciding who for. I think you could drop any of your 3 strikers for him and still have a great front three, so it’s up to you. If Balo looks good today then I’d be tempted to drop Studge and put the extra cash to use. Or you could totally downgrade one of them to an Adebayor or Pelle for example and use the funds to upgrade one of your two budget mids.
My priority moves out of those suggested would be Mata out for another good mid, and Costa in for a striker. The rest you can gradually do as and when over the next few GWs. All just my humble opinion of course.
Thanks so much man. Yeah I think mata needs to go. Maybe I can get Silva alpine with JWP for Mutch.! Thx again.
Matic yesterday a once off?
Kun scored after 20 seconds when he re-entered the City squad last GW but yesterday he got 90 minutes and did nothing. 😉
I see a lot being tempted by the WC. I would strongly urge you to hold off unless you will be replacing the expensive core of your team as that is where the most points are likely to come from. I have seen many WC teams that have only made 4 or 5 changes, and most of those are for bench or rotation players – NOT worth it!
Also I know a lot were holding out until the international windrow between GWs 3 and 4 as there is often a lot of value to be made in this two-week period. This is nowhere near as enticing a reason this season though as firstly the price rises are nowhere near as frequent this year, and secondly as a result of this the price change sites are nowhere near as accurate either, which could well cause you to buy/sell at the wrong time without taking advantage of the price change.
So, in a word, be strong people!
Almost in top 10k, would be crazy to use it now. I don’t like the new pricechange system though, fear I can’t get players because DDG, Mata and CO are dropping. Much harder to win back money this season since players have to score 3 hattricks in a row to actually rise.
Anyway, I think it might be a good idea to use Wildcard after GW7.
Cracking effort so far Raz, and that’s with Pieters on the bench! True about the price drops, but I do think common sense has to come in too. I will just keep DDG and let him drop I think, got a CS yday and has a few more great fixtures still. Same with Lovren. Think I may go Terry and Mata to Ivan and ADM this GW.
thanks I was like 70/30 (lower chance of wild carding)
this made me lean more towards NOT…. now I’m at 71/29… kidding. I’m holding out atm, this is my best gameweek so far. At 56 so far with Debuchy and Ramsey. I know, not great. BUT, I’m slowly bringing in the players to better my squad, without taking hits.
Last year I played LOTS of hits, I’m not against hits at all, but I made a lot of mistakes, some I regretted right away. This year I will be more conservative with my hits. Also last year I kept my WC for a double gameweek which paid off BIG TIME!!
McB I took a whole bunch of hits last season due to combining players I wanted with their price rises, but that’s seemingly out of the window this season, for now at least, so am playing more conservatively for a change, plus am still happy with my core team. Probably take my first hit this GW though.
CC I may do the same (take a hit this gw), there are at least 2 players I want in my team NOW!! But I’m sticking to my guns atm, I told myself that I wouldn’t make hit unless it was necessary. But I may try fit Aguero in this GW for Rooney, I only have 1.4 to spare though so a hit may be on the horizon to raise the funds
I agree CC – my plan this year was to actually pay more attention to price changes as they royally screwed me over the previous, I failed to check them regularly when planning transfers.
This change is pretty sweet, though. Although over the course of the season I can see well-performing players only being at most .5 above their initial price, and maybe even some decent performers below their starting. It seems players are dropping easier than they are rising?
There do seem to be a lot more drops Flingy, but that might just be the players in my squad! 3 or 4 close to dropping now, and Mata and Bartley already have.
