Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 38 – Fantasy Premier League 2015/16

Fantasy Football Live Match ChatAnd there it was gone. 37 weeks of sheer hell! For most anyway. Will the 38th be any better? Probably not! All logic seemed to go out of the window this time, taking with it the careful planning and attention to detail that most successful fantasy managers usually thrive on. Looking back it truly was the season of the underdog, ably accompanied by his close mate ‘Spoiler Dog’ as every best laid plan seemed to get scuppered at every single bloody turn, be it by an injury, a suspension, a rotation, a drugs test… On and on and on… to the point where we all just gave in and just had to finally laugh or cry. Always better to just laugh.

On which point we did. Well, we did both didn’t we, along the way. We all laughed, we all cried, we all had fun. Most importantly we all did it together. For better or for worse we all stuck at it and tried our best to help each other along the way. One big fantasy football community. And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every single comment and view this season, it means a lot, and means we are doing our job properly. We shall of course be back for next season but in the meantime please stick with us as we shall be playing Fantasy Euro 2016 over the summer as well as building up to the next FPL season with pre-season articles galore.

For now though, ‘enjoy’ what is left of this somewhat horrid fantasy season and we wish you luck in nailing your mini-leagues in the final week. Make sure you tell us how it went for you, either way. Every game starts at the same time this week so whether it’s pain or pleasure for you it’ll be over quite quickly. Here are the final 10 games…

Morning all. I finished in the top 29k.
That’s four consecutive seasons in the top 1% smile

I also ended up running a GW2 team this season for a laugh and it did better than my regular team! It finished in the top 6k overall, second in the regulars league and 32nd out of all the teams that started in Game week 2 😉

I hardly get on the forum these days. But a massive thanks to Cookie Kop Init TGP and all the people who contributed with fantastic articles and the huge amount of effort put in behind the scenes. Big shout out to all the people who contributed on the forum. It is a brilliant web site and I hope you all have a fantastic summer no doubt capped by England winning the Euroes.

Great going Horse. Especially by the GW2 team! What was the difference there just out of interest? A more laissez-faire attitude? I tend to find I do better with those teams where I don’t really look at them too much in terms of planning and just do a last minute ‘whatever’ transfer. Mito has this approach to all his teams and it works a treat for him anyway!

        Hi Init.

With the GW2 team. I got in form players from GW1 like Payet, Mahrez, Gomis, Kompany who remarkably kept form for the next few weeks.
I also went more bold with captain options so I often captained Mahrez and Payet which racked up the points.

This season is the first time I played a WC early. Normally I play it around GW34
So after GW2 my team was pretty sorted so I could react to emerging players such as Wilson Vardy KDB etc
I did not need to use a WC for that team first half of the season. Didn’t get round to playing the AOA chip either.

To be honest I really liked playing an early WC.

        How was your season Init?

          Morning all
So the end has finally come and I’d like to thank all who have posted articles and comments on this site. It has been a massive help and overall I have had a reasonable season. Only started in GW3 and finished on 2215 points with rank of 30,368 and GW3 rank of 11. I may well have had an advantage starting in GW3 as I could pick a team on the form players at that time. If only I could pick a captain!

        • inittowinit says:

Interesting, just good to listen to other overall strategies. Obviously starting week 2 isn’t one I’d consider but the WC thing and the fact that the other team was able to jump on the early bandwagons is notable.

Yeah mine was ok I suppose! Statistically my worse ever with an 80k odd rank so that’s the first time ever outside 50k and the top 2% but I’d have taken that a few months back as I was languishing around 2mil, then 1, then 500k so even top 100k looked improbable. Ultimately just didn’t want a 6 figure rank on my history so I guess I salvaged something from the wreckage at least!

        • Horse says:

That’s awesome Tomo. I think we have stubbled on something here as a strategy. Don’t start in GW1 !!!! smile

        • Horse says:

          Cheers Init.
At the end of my first season, which I finished 627K and only really had a clue what I was doing after I found FFC midway through the season, I wrote a list of lessons learned and guidelines to use.
Since them I have not finshed outside the top 1%
I would like to write an article preseason next year sharing my strategy to set the team up if that is ok. Aimed at newbies.
No doubt FPLwill change the rules which will render it all obsolete. smile

        • inittowinit says:

That’d be warmly received mate, just let us know when you’re ready.

Cheers Horse The other massive influence this year was the chips used in the double GW with Wild
Card in GW33 and BB in GW34 171 pts. and TC in GW37 101 pts. There were times during both of those weeks where I wondered if that was the right strategy but it turned out OK
