Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 4 – Fantasy Premier League 2014/15
The deadline bell has rung…did you play your wildcard or have you decided to hold onto it a little longer? Some will be happy with their decision while others will castigate themselves! The first game-week after an international break always makes for fun and games as we have to deal with those ‘international injuries’. Costa is injured, or is he?! Ramsey is injured, or is he?! The game-week kicks off with Arsenal hosting City at lunchtime today and we wrap things up on Monday night with an equally glamourous tie as Hull ‘entertain’ West Ham. Oh and in between there’s the small matter of United potentially rolling out another three debutants.
Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.
Good luck for GW4 from all at FF247!
Not often I do this, but can I have some general advice for GW5 preparation please?
First off, there’s 3 key targets I have in mind: Baines, Di Maria and Agüero – however – realistically it may only be possible to have 2 of them.
Now: which 3 defenders would you start? Fixtures make it tough this week.
Finally, anything outstanding transfers you can spot, or shall I save my transfer?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. ((haven’t wildcarded just yet elle 😉 ))
Chamber,Duff,Taylor !
Duff, Taylor, Chambers…with Chambers the one open to change.
I don’t think any of those 3 are necessary for this week but all good options going forward. Di Maria price rising is going to make it difficult to get him in in the future but you would need a hit to bring him in this week.
Sit tight.
Cheers lads. Interesting to see you both agree! Do neither of you feel Clyne’s attacking potential outweighs the fact that Swansea are at home? I benched Clyne in GW1 and he scored against Liverpool away so I’m always wary now…
Sounds advice Mr Bean, Di Maria will indeed rise but I’m fairly happy with my midfield, and am releunctant to take a hit. So I shall indeed sit tight.
Never thought I’d save up 2 free transfers twice within the first 5 weeks haha!
Hi James, what’s your thinking on the transfers? Who are you looking to swap out for whichever are your preferred 2 of those 3?
My first thoughts were (next week) to do Terry —–> Moore and then Rooney —–> Agüero. It’s a toss up between Di Maria and Baines, probably the former, but I’m planning on wildcarding during the next international break so I can deal with that dilemma then.
What are your thoughts?
I’d maybe not be so hasty with the Rooney one James to be honest. Utd have Leicester, West Ham and West Brom in the next 4. Likewise with Baines – Palace at home this week is great but then it’s Liverpool and Utd so maybe wait on him if you are WCing soon anyway. Di Maria will rocket in price (in theory) very soon so maybe plan for him in the immediacy out of those 3.
Rooney’s performance today has swayed me trust me init!
Must say I hadn’t considered making Di Maria the priority, so thanks for bringing that into my thinking!
How would you go about getting him in? Eriksen out I reckon…
James Di Maria is what 9.6 and so Erik plus your bank is 9.2? So Terry to someone at 6.0 or below does it. Plenty of options there. Pick your preference with fixtures in mind and job done.
Spot on init.
Would you do it now for a hit or wait a week? Eriksen has a good fixture this gameweek so I might hold off. Di Maria will of course rise though.
Init, don’t you think that from now on RVP and Falcao will be starting up top with Rooney in midfield? I feel this could have a big impact on Rooney. It was noticeable once Falcao came on how much deeper Rooney sat. Of course he may still pop up with plenty assists but for me I’m doing whatever I can to get Di Maria in ASAP and replace Rooney with Aguero! What do you reckon?
jamesimmo – I would bring in Baines for Terry and start he, Duff and Chambers.
Thanks for your input mate. I reckon Duff and Chambers will definitely start, it’s just a case of who the 3rd spot is for…
…if I had Baines it would be easy. But that limits my ability to get Agüero or Di Maria in the following week, so thinking I’m gonna save my transfer, then reassess.
Who would be your started out of Clyne, Taylor and Terry?
JT, for me. Unlucky week for him this week.
Thanks. That’d make sense as I have Siggy and Tadic both playing. Plus I sense a Mourinho lock-up is incoming…
It could really go either way. Anything from 0-0 to 3-3!
Jose does know how to grind them out though. More than most.
james
I would consider Baines in for Terry this week. That would get you one of your big three in in time for home to Palace. Then I would use him, Clyne and Duff as your back three.
After that, ADM and Chadli in for Tadic and Eriksen? (If my maths is right!)
Hey Gallant, thanks, ahh that’s 2 votes for Baines then!
Clyne finally gets a mention. My gut is to play him. Or Terry… arghhhh.
Baines seems a nice idea, but as init says, his fixtures are tough in the short term and I’d need to take a hit for Di Maria if I make a transfer this week surely..?
james,
The ADM/Chadli move I would make next week with a hit or over the next two. The alternative is to take a -12 or WC.
Those moves work fine with my 1.3m in the bank. Spurs have poor fixtures after West Brom so I’ll probably find an alternative route to Chadli.
If I avoid Baines for now and stick with Terry then I can get Di Maria in for the following gameweek without taking a hit…
Leicester are proving to be tough opponents so perhaps this makes sense?
jamesimmo – Are the fixtures really that bad though? WBA, Arsenal (potential goal fest), Southampton, City (tough game that), then it’s into a nice run of Newcastle, Villa, Stoke and Hull.
City (a) is the one i’d be iffy about there and those fixtures run to gwk 12. Two tough games then in Everton and Chelsea.
Three tough games. Arsenal away is a struggle for Spurs. No bias whatsoever by the way!
So do you like the idea of Chadli?
Whatever floats yer boat
Chadli? Nah, not for me.
I don’t like the idea of him either. Next week I think Eriksen —-> Di Maria and a minor downgrade in defence somewhere should see me right.
Gonzalez’s cleansheet gone for your H2H match  now come on Robbie! That pissed penalty might’ve cost me…
It means nothing now, unfortunately. Keane was so close to a huge score. What a disaster.
Completely knee jerk action but thinking of taking Sterling and Dzeko out for Di Maria and Costa.
Thinking them two are must haves.
Sterling will be back next week and Liverpool’s fixtures are good. Don’t forget that last week Sterling was this weeks Di Maria. Everyone had to have him and with good reason. One poor week through no fault of his own doesn’t suddenly make him a bad pick going forward. I do agree on Costa and Di Maria though! Anyone else that Di Maria can come in for is what I’m saying I think!
Well my other mids are Ramsey, Fabregas, Sigs and El Ahmadi! I did think Ramsey but I reckon he’ll be consistent.
I’ve lost about 50 points to everyone this week, brought Falcao in too early but think he’ll score well in the coming weeks.
So it’s either Ramsey or Sterling then. Liverpool have better fixtures short to mid term. Ramsey looked like he was on the cusp of scoring / being involved in everything even against City though. Tough call that one mate!
It sure is, I just reckon with Sturridge out for a couple of weeks then it will lessen the appeal of Sterling (I even thought this whilst bringing him in, just a horrible week)
It doesn’t help that we have no idea who’s rising and falling as obviously with the midweek games I’d rather wait but with only 0.1m to play with it might be risky.
I imagine Di Maria will still go up 0.2 this week. Just keep an eye on transfers in and still keep an eye on Total or FISO as I know it’s not accurate but it’s still a good indication. You’ll probably have to do it sooner rather than later but if you can I’d get to Thursday to be safe with the CL games.
Currently ranked 846th overall 😉 how is everyone else doing?
duthers,
Superb ranking mate. Well done. Keep up the good work and improve on that!
GP
Cheers, could easily have gone the other way! (I captained Costa)
good going duthers.
i slipped down a few ranks from 173k to around 178k.
going with sterling as captain cost me.
Jasprit
I know the feeling well enough from last season. I was so close to making him captain, gave the armband to Costa and got lucky.
Krul (Mannone)
Iva Taylor Moreno (Wilson & Moore)
Lamela Siggy Di Maria Sterling (Boyd)
Naismith Costa Aguero
Think I’m happy to keep my FT, barring injures during the week… Thoughts lads?
makes sense hammer.
Mata out who would you bring in sterling or Di Maria ?
wouldn’t take mata out just yet.
if you had to, di maria for sure.
Jeet,
Mata scored today and has Leicester and West Ham in the next two. Don’t take shipping him out lightly.
after holding on the last week and not doing a single transfer,
my oppressed urges took revenge and i have now used both my FTs for next week even before this one ends.
i know it’s a little crazy but just had to do it with the fear of price rises!
