Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Game-week 5 – Fantasy Premier League 2014/15

Photo 23-11-2013 11 44 40The deadline bell has rung and your decisions are now final! This could actually be a tough week for fantasy managers. A lot of the usual, ‘obvious’ candidates are away from home and even those that aren’t have difficult games on paper. Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton, Man Utd and Chelsea are all on the road while Swansea and Man City are at home but are by no means guaranteed anything, facing Southampton and Chelsea respectively. QPR and Stoke kick us off at 12.45pm in the early Saturday game and even that ones hard to call given the inconsistencies of both. We then have five 3pm kick offs and the day is rounded off as West ham host Liverpool in the evening game at 5.30pm. Sunday sees Leicester vs Man Utd and Spurs vs West Brom, both at 1.30pm followed by two 4pm games as Everton host Palace and the big one of the weekend that sees Man City square up to Chelsea.

Keep track of all the action, the goals, the talking points, right here at FF247 Live Match Chat, an interactive chat which encourages you to keep involved and share your thoughts and emotions as the matches take place.

Good luck for GW5 from all at FF247!

Well done desert eagle. You should link your team though

      • deserteagle says:

owh? u mean.. linking my FPL team to my deserteagle profile here in this website? and how do I do that?

        • inittowinit says:

Hi desert, if you want to link it there’s an explanation on the Help tab above, the instructions are as follows though –

How do I link my ‘display name’ to my fantasy team?
First you will need to get you team-link. To get this link go to your ‘My Team’ page on the Fantasy.Premierleague website, click ‘History’ underneath your team kit, and copy this pages’ url into the website field on the Fantasy Football 247 profile page. To get to your profile page you will need to make sure you are logged in, once you are click here or use the ‘Profile – Change Password’ link in the footer (bottom of site) and insert your team-link in the website box under contact info. Then confirm by pressing the ‘update profile’ on the bottom left of that page.

Some people prefer not to which is fine and understandable. Personally I think getting a grav (picture) is more pertinent 😉

I’m having a mare with 32pts (and 18 on bench) but I’m up to 774 so it seems everyone else is too. Although, the big guns are out this afternoon

I’m on 41 with Ivan,ADM,Fab,kun and costa(c) to play…pretty happy with that actually.

    Morning all,

Just caught the end of Match of the Day re-run this morning; as if van Aanholt was that close to scoring a winner!

Niko Kranjcar looked good, as usual. Would it be daft to invest in him as a 4th mid ahead of Spurs’ options and Sterling?

      AT says:

Webstar – After watching him on MOTD yesterday I have to admit that I was considering replacing him for Siggy..However, he only managed 3 goals and 3 assists last season so Fantasy wise he maybe isn’t so useful. Also, QPR face Liverpool, Chelsea and City in their next six games.

      • webstar87 says:

Yeah, maybe just as a 5th option for now and see how he pans out…he’s just one of those that I think can score/assist regardless of opponent. Plus, with QPR’s shocking defence, they need to score at the other end.

Is 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 a better formation for fantasy? Considering playing Costa and Wlebeck up top with five across the middle, thoughts?

      Ant0800 says:

I play a 3-5-2. But previous seasons I did a 3-4-3. I think 5 across the midfield is a wise choice, so many top midfielders to pick from.

      inittowinit says:

Morning AT, I’ve pretty much always favoured a 3-4-3. 2x expensive strikers + a budget one. There’s certainly no right or wrong answer here.

      NIN says:

I prefer 3-4-3. I don’t see Welbeck as strong enough, long term, for a 3-5-2. It will come back to bite. Different story if it was two big forwards like Costa and Aguero for example, or Rooney/Sturridge etc. Don’t see Danny scoring enough to make it work, to be honest.

      Mr Bean says:

Costa and Welbeck upfront allows you to play a very strong 5 in midfield, with Siggy and 4 8+ big hitters (Sterling, Fab, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Lamela, Di Maria, Mirallas) etc. It also allows you to own a big defender like Baines or Ivanovic.

Having 2 big hitters up front like Costa and Aguero means 1 of your front 7 will have to be budget…less than 5.5 mil from what i’ve tried. If you can find a consistent performer in this range (Naismith, Ulloa) then it could work very well for you. You will also have to budget the defence to some extent.

Both formations will work over the season – it just depends on choosing the right players to fit into them.

For some, playing 4-3-3, which allows for big hitters in all departments could work over the season.

      • AT says:

Thanks, what formation do you play?

        Which top 7 is better:
Siggy Silva Sterling Di Maria (Quinn)
        Costa Welbeck Falcao

        Or

MIrallas Silva Sterling Di Maria Fabregas
        Costa Welbeck (Cole)

Feel like the second option has the potential to be brilliant but if Welbeck doesn’t perform it will be tricky to fix due to the price plan.

        • Mr Bean says:

Impossible to call. I would have Siggy in a 3-5-2 and then have an extra 3 mil to spend on defence. Those 2 teams are identical in price so it boils down to, who will score more:
          Falcao/Siggy or Mirallas/Fabregas?

Anybody else been watching Downing this season?

His creativity stats have been great so I threw him on my watch list. 2 assists and a goal. Only £5.5m! West Ham’s forwards look tasty too.
