And we are off!! Another season of bitter FPL disappointment for most gets rolling when Leicester travels to Old Trafford to take on Jose’s happy warriors. That Friday night fixture is followed by six more on Saturday.

A lunch time affair sees Newcastle and Spurs face off in the battle of who spent the least this transfer window. That is followed by The Cherries vs newcomers Cardiff. Fulham who is also recently promoted, tangle with Palace, Huddersfield plays host to Sarri-ball, Watford dukes it out with Brighton and in the late game we get a first look at the much talked about Wolves side when they face off vs Everton.

Sunday brings us the last three fixtures. Liverpool begin what promises to be an exciting season that is likely to end the same as most, not good enough to win anything. They will take on a new look Hammers team, that 1:30 game is accompanied by a match only a mother could love when Saints take on Burnley. The gameweek is closed out by the best game on paper. When the champions travel to the Emirates to clash with the Wenger-less Gunners.

    Anyone thinking earlier transfers?
    Neves
    Shaw
    Pedro
    Obi wan
    Holebas
All cheap and cheerful getting mins and good points.

    Terminators says:

I want to drop Cairney (FUL) £5m, should I go for Jorghino (who I talked myself out of) Kante (both CHE) or Neves (WOV) all £5m Jorghino is nailed on to play and good chance Pen’s, Kante now has more freedom and is playing a little further up so can maybe score more from free play, Neves score from open play but team not as solid and robust as CHE.

I am leaning towards the CHE players to be honest.

      Mmm..

Maybe give Cairney a couple of games.
I went Jorginho against a the crowd, bonus he takes pens too.
Didn’t see Wolves tonight, but heard a bit on talk sport on the way home, Neves could be good…seems dangerous on set pieces.

      AK47 says:

Cairney wasn’t as high up the pitch today as I hoped but we played some lovely football in first 30 mins, albeit pretty yet ineffective. A weak back four let us down but judging by today we’re still trying to play football so could be explosive at times this season.

      • Terminators says:

I have that Zamba (FUL) on the bench, Fulham have Spurs next then a couple of toughish games, did see the game? The “we’re still trying to play football” comment worries me more so with all the new players.

      Kralin says:

Dropping a player after one game is a recipe for disaster, Terminators. As is chasing the players who did well today: they won’t necessarily (or magically) do exactly the same next week.

I’d give him at least one more game.

      • Terminators says:

I know what you mean but they have Spurs next and all those new players to try out, I have that Zamba who they just signed and he’s going to take someone’s place in MID.

He has to score basically against Spurs and he’s not going to.

        • Kralin says:

I wouldn’t expect miracles from your 5m mids, Terminators. I was pleased with Hughes’ modest 3 points for me today. Actually I wasn’t pleased – I was touched. How could I possibly throw him over this early on?

Look what I left on the bench ….. would have been number 1! And so it begins…… the what ifs!

    TheDreamers says:

Neves only scored 6 goals last season. How?

    igy4 says:

Hi all. I’m only on 25 points with 6 still to play and seeing some current scores on here I’m feeling a little downbeat and was hoping for more from my players thus far. Like most I have Wan-B on the bench.

I took a few hits last year and still finished in the top 10k so am not adverse to the odd hit. With the likes of Shaw I will ignore as he will likely lose his place but with team value making a difference later in the season (especially when using the WC) would like likes of Neves, Pogba, Jorginho be worth getting in before a price rise? I know you can’t base much on 1 game but players I may be looking to switch from my team are Mkhitaryan (depending on performance tomorrow) and possibly Sessegnon.

      TheDreamers says:

I’m behind on motd igy but Jorginho possibly only took the penalty as Hazard wasnt on the pitch and Pogba said he wud give the next pen to Sanchez. Nevez only scored 6 last year so it might be the time to sit on the hands

      Kralin says:

I’m on 25 as well and am very chilled about it. Was quite pleased, in fact, given the angst over Shaw last night. Richarlison saved me today. Loads of players to go tomorrow and not bad ones at that.

There are a lot of very positive words being written about Neves so he’s one to watch – but Leicester next, then Man City.

    • 168.3
      igy4 says:

Thanks guys! I’ll likely sit on my hands too. I’m watching motd and Neves did look good with a few shots and some nice passes so he will be on my watchlist. If anything I’m going to see what happens with Sess and whether he will be utilised at LB as that may then be my first transfer.

      Red Robbo says:

      Hey Igy.

25 is fine – above the average so far. Worth remembering that all the players with great scores come on here and tell everyone about it, whilst the silent majority just look in and quietly sob into their keyboard laugh

      • igy4 says:

True that Red! I guess I just expected more from Davies and Sessegnon today but I do still have Robertson, Salah (c), Firmino, Mendy, Aguero and Mkhitaryan still to play so could all change! Hey, someone in my ML captained Shelvey so I imagine he is crying silently right now!

I’m also wondering how much team value really counts when making those early gains. Hegazi and Richarlison come to mind from last year who really gained TV early and can be the difference of around a million when using a WC late on. That could be the difference between getting KDB who will likely play and another city mid who would be a gamble each week.

        • Red Robbo says:

I used to be a big fan of building TV but I’ve seen plenty on here get great rankings with about £3m less than me, so not sure it counts for all that much. It feels good to get all the ‘bug’ players in until they blank for three weeks, which they all do. I am a specialist and getting KDB in just when he goes off the boil and getting rid of just before he comes back on ito it…c’est la vie!

Anyone that captained Shelvey deserved what they get, whether it’s good or bad laugh
