Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1

And we are off!! Another season of bitter FPL disappointment for most gets rolling when Leicester travels to Old Trafford to take on Jose’s happy warriors. That Friday night fixture is followed by six more on Saturday.

A lunch time affair sees Newcastle and Spurs face off in the battle of who spent the least this transfer window. That is followed by The Cherries vs newcomers Cardiff. Fulham who is also recently promoted, tangle with Palace, Huddersfield plays host to Sarri-ball, Watford dukes it out with Brighton and in the late game we get a first look at the much talked about Wolves side when they face off vs Everton.

Sunday brings us the last three fixtures. Liverpool begin what promises to be an exciting season that is likely to end the same as most, not good enough to win anything. They will take on a new look Hammers team, that 1:30 game is accompanied by a match only a mother could love when Saints take on Burnley. The gameweek is closed out by the best game on paper. When the champions travel to the Emirates to clash with the Wenger-less Gunners.

I vote for an extra FPL chip called the substitution chip. You only get 1 during the season which allows you to substitute one or all of your bench in a given gameweek. You have 1 hour after the last game of the week to activate it or something along those lines!

you would use it in this 1st GW, wouldn’t you? 😛

      • igy4 says:

It all depends who you have on the bench though. Do you use it when 1 player on your bench scores 12 points and thus swapping one player or do you take the gamble to wait in the hope all the players do well which may mean you miss out by waiting for something that never arrives?

      Chipster says:

That chip would be ace. Similar to an idea I had last season for a ‘Best XI’ chip. Played once per season, it would autosub at the end of the GW to ensure that your best starting XI is fielded (subject to formation rules). So, for one week at least, you’d have a guarantee of not leaving your highest scoring players on your bench. The challenge would be when to play it to achieve maximum gains, as some weeks you get the benching decisions right anyway.

      • igy4 says:

Yeah I like that Chipster. It’s a gamble when to use it especially if you have to activate it before the gameweek deadline as you say, you may already have the best 11, you may only make a couple of points but there is the chance of some serious points being made.

Sigh why did I rid Richarlison! Argh! Should I do Jota to Richarlison?

When do the price increases start to kick in?

    • 171.1

Hard to tell until there is some increases and decreases. The people who try and predict that need some movement so they can start on figuring out what thresholds they are using. Doesn’t feel like anyone has been bought or sold enough to move yet.

      • RedKev says:

I use fplstatistics but what’s the best way of finding out who’s actually increased/decreased in price overnight?

        • Kralin says:

Just use that site and sort by (click on) Chgs.

So nobody yet in the hot race between Shaw and Neves.

        • RedKev says:

Cheers Kralin but damn I feel stupid now! Used that site for couple of years at least and never new you could do that!

        • Terminators says:

I use that site, I didn’t know if prices were locked the first week or so.

It’s an odd place to be in, hoping that one of my three City or three Pool don’t play, so my first sub Wan-B can come on!

Happy that I decided to give Richarlison a go. Almost unhappy I didn’t put Shaw in but to be honest I never really considered him, and that was a freak goal! Very unhappy I took my OOP Schlupp out of my team because I had “too many Palace”. King a disappointment.

22 points with 6 players (Mendy/BSilva/Aguero/Robertson/Salah/Firmino) to come. I’m not panicking just yet………
