Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. And welcome back indeed, welcome to the start of yet another long season, welcome to another 38 weeks of joy, despair, trials, tribulations and challenges. We hope that you will once again enjoy joining us as we go through all the emotions together, share our thoughts and experiences, rejoice when our players score points, commiserate when they don’t, cry when they come off after 59 minutes and laugh when they concede in the last minute. Or something to that effect anyway.
GW1 sees us kick off with a Friday night game as the Champions of Europe host newly promoted Norwich at home. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Salah captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway.
Champions Man City then get the first Saturday of the season going as they visit West Ham in the early kick off at 12.30pm.
In perhaps a sign of things to come our 3pm games are not only few but are also littered with the already seemingly cast aside ‘less interesting’ teams. Apologies to Bournemouth & Sheffield United, Burnley & Southampton, Palace & Everton and Watford & Brighton but that’s how it seems.
Champions League runners up Spurs host newly promoted Villa at home in the late KO at 5.30pm. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Kane captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway….
Leicester and Wolves begin (share) our first Sunday with an intriguing encounter at 2pm, while Newcastle fans will be protesting against Arsenal at the same time. Well ok, not protesting Arsenal, protesting Ashley, but you know what we mean…
A clash of the old titans sees GW1 out as Chelsea visit Old Trafford at 4pm.
The games in full…

Pukki goal 😯
Lol
Pukki’s only on 2.7% ownership too!
Same price as King.
Hmmm interesting! Something to ponder :buba: (I presume that’s what that emoji’s for!)
Not really, it was for Frenchie.
Like that emoji
We did literally keep it on there for you Frenchie.
On that point though there’s a full list of the codes for the others coming soon. There’s about 300 of them! We picked 50 others to publish for now (coming soon) but eventually I intend to have a whole raft available for use. The op up box you get right now is just the main ones that we deemed would be popular from the get go.
Amazing news! Soon all the communication on here is done by mere emojis!!! No need for words!! 😎
We may as well graft emojis onto our faces.
Imagine if players could do that after scoring a goal. A nightmarish future opens up. It’s bad enough watching them suck their thumbs.
:dash:
:suicide:
Amen! You never really want to be a conservative (knowingly) but when you get to a certain age you realize conservatism is all you have…
In all seriousness, I actually like them. I’m a ‘wordy’ person by nature and I enjoy writing but I like that release sometimes. It adds a fun element in some respects. When it was discussed we had a few saying ‘I don’t get / care for them’, and I get that too. You use them or you don’t though, at least the choice is there. Or will be anyway.
Oh yes, they are a part of informal written communication now. No escape. They’re not bad in terms of helping with tone – I’m always having to rewrite things to clarify what it was I meant. I should just write ‘that’s a really awful fkg side you have there’ and embellish the words with a cheerful emoji to show that I’m not being serious.
I do like ’em too, as witnessed (I think) by the number of times I use them, really love these new ones, we had loads of these at FFF, I’m honestly delighted to have them here now too! :good:
I don’t like the ridiculous ones that are overly animated but I think we’ve landed on a good set of middle ground ones. The pic below is sort of a teaser as the actual list is about 3 times that long.
Absolute dross in defence there
What would you give Vardy’s chances of scoring against CHE next week?
See how both teams perform this weekend first!
Exactly!
Goodness sake man.
I’m already looking on the Fantasy Player Price Change Predictions site, strike while the irons hot :biggun:
Buy Adrian. 😉
To go with Pope or Heaton?
Terminator, can I invite you into a very lucrative cash league – just me and you?
Seriously, hold your bloody fire man until you see the whites of their eyes. Find out how injured the player is before dismembering your side.
Salah doesn’t seem to be doing very much now
He scored a goal and got an assist. Give over man 😆
Yeah he’s rubbish
:big-lol:
Sorry for been rude, but this is the stupidest comment I have read to date. He was unlucky no to score a 2nd, and if Bobby’s 1st touch was sharper he would have had a 2nd assist. He’ll be my captain next week for sure
Double-digit return in GW1, can’t complain about that. I think I (unsurprisingly) captained him in GW1 last year, where he got a more modest 6 points (if memory serves). He’s been one of the best set and forget captains ever.
I’m sure the site management wouldn’t mind in the slightest if the captains’ article for GW2 simply had a nice photo of Mo Salah along with the words ‘don’t overthink it’.
:help:
:wink2:
I’m sure he just meant ‘in the moment’ Gavy, not that he suddenly wanted to sell him as a result. He wasn’t doing a fat lot at that point, to be fair. They didn’t need to, game was done.
Hey initto, I don’t want to be a dick so I’ll leave it rest. As kraline pointed out double digits as locked him in next week for me
I’m sure you weren’t being, I just think his comment was lost in interpretation along the way. All good :good:
As the first game of the year concludes I just wanted to say how proud I’ve been to see our great community come back en-masse this past couple of weeks. Faces old and new and some out of the blue. Thanks to all for making this site what it is. We aim for a friendly and comfortable environment for all and that’s very much what we get. Yes there’ll be ‘banter’ but nothing that strays.
We aim to see no question go unanswered and it’s pleasing that that is usually the case without ‘us’ having to intervene very often and do so.
To the faces who are old; thanks for your continued support and longevity. To the new ones; try and stick around a bit more, you’ll enjoy it.
Well done all! :drinks:
PS it looks like FPL Discovery have given up the ghost, hence no Capo stats earlier and so probably no bonus ones in a bit. Shame that but I’ll find another source soon enough.
Well said Init and a big thanks to all you folk who do the hard work to make the site tick
Great site & community innit. I joined a couple years ago but missed most of last season due to work – glad to see it’s still a great source of chat & info!
:megaman:
I agree with Ben.
Less is more.
😯
First band wagon of the season lol
Not massively interested. Probably will be a bandwagon around it but there were actually 2 reasons Liverpool became more solid at the back last season and one of them is rarely mentioned. And he now has a calf strain. He’ll also probably be back in a couple of weeks max.
558 already!
Yeah exactly this – Alisson made a great save in the first half. Adrian didn’t.
Tim Krul on the other hand! I won’t let that TAA free-kick go
I knew you’d find him sooner rather than later. This is good for those of us with one Pool spot available. We just need to see how much time Alisson is out. Adrian is no Alisson though so this will surely have an effect in their CS.
Unless Allison is ruled out until Christmas, I wouldn’t bother.
Yeah agreed
+1
He’ll probably get the next 3 games up until the international break. 2 away fixtures and a home tie against Arsenal
No room at the Inn
Go to the next pub then.
I wasn’t even aware he’d signed. I thought blimey, what’s he doing there. At least it wasn’t Karius.
