Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. And welcome back indeed, welcome to the start of yet another long season, welcome to another 38 weeks of joy, despair, trials, tribulations and challenges. We hope that you will once again enjoy joining us as we go through all the emotions together, share our thoughts and experiences, rejoice when our players score points, commiserate when they don’t, cry when they come off after 59 minutes and laugh when they concede in the last minute. Or something to that effect anyway.
GW1 sees us kick off with a Friday night game as the Champions of Europe host newly promoted Norwich at home. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Salah captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway.
Champions Man City then get the first Saturday of the season going as they visit West Ham in the early kick off at 12.30pm.
In perhaps a sign of things to come our 3pm games are not only few but are also littered with the already seemingly cast aside ‘less interesting’ teams. Apologies to Bournemouth & Sheffield United, Burnley & Southampton, Palace & Everton and Watford & Brighton but that’s how it seems.
Champions League runners up Spurs host newly promoted Villa at home in the late KO at 5.30pm. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Kane captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway….
Leicester and Wolves begin (share) our first Sunday with an intriguing encounter at 2pm, while Newcastle fans will be protesting against Arsenal at the same time. Well ok, not protesting Arsenal, protesting Ashley, but you know what we mean…
A clash of the old titans sees GW1 out as Chelsea visit Old Trafford at 4pm.

Nice scoring, GP. After my late VVD to Robbo switch I find myself ‘way back’ at 850k. That ownership certainly hurt. Not to worry, it’s a long old season.
Tbh pretty much every team in my main mini league is almost the same currently. It won’t last but clearly most looked for help this year.
Yeah, its 37-31 points all over except for a few. In my ml it seems to be a matter sterling vs Kane…
Yeah Kane is fairly popular as well. It will all change when people start making their own transfers
My mates gave up playing FPL a seasons back. A few of them decided to give a go again this season. Their scores? 20, 10, 8 & 2
At least they picked their own teams Kop. There’s a lot out there that must have just copied others teams

For me it’s all about having fun. There’s generally no/not much money on it so you pick your own players who you think will do well
And if you don’t do that what’s the point because it’s not your own work
…and the GW has only just begun. Plenty of points out there today.
Personally I’ll be watching events at Bournemouth and Selhurst Park with great interest – and will tune into Spurs after the event. Pretty much over and out in terms of players for me today I think, other than Jota.
Oh there’s a long way to go this GW let alone what happens in next few weeks

Actually thought Liverpool’s defence didn’t look great last night, might have just been due to first game of season but they were fortunate Norwich weren’t more composed.

Might be me but I think they look less solid when Gomez plays CB instead of Matip. TAA is always a bit dodgy defending wise
And the keeper limping off. As a fan I’m hoping that is very short-term.
Early reports is it’s more than a calf strain so might not be short term
If Alisson is out for significant period of time I’d seriously consider dropping one of my Pool defenders.
Or swooping for the cheap goalie and investing the money elsewhere. But no intention of thinking about that yet.

Two very good punts there – cleverly exploiting the absence of Mane in an almost perfect fixture to do so. Presumably Mane will start next week ahead of Origi – but even so. 36 for a TC isn’t bad and I salute without reservation those who had the nerve to play it. (I thought about it – in the sense of thinking, without being tempted, but was only about 5% of the way to playing it.)
It was more the case of living with the decision for all 38 game weeks if Salah blanked for me. Thought it was a good option

Are you on Twitter? It’s best to follow the action because you can get opinion from those actually watching the games and you usually get goal clips.
Well, yes but that’s not what i am looking for. This site gives you your mini leagues standing and scores in real time… Not the actuall games
I know that FFix do it but I think you’ve got to pay for it.

I find following live events – when I can – on this site quite entertaining, albeit mixed with moments of abject horror when clean sheets and bonuses evaporate.
