Welcome to Fantasy Football Live Match Chat Gameweek 1. And welcome back indeed, welcome to the start of yet another long season, welcome to another 38 weeks of joy, despair, trials, tribulations and challenges. We hope that you will once again enjoy joining us as we go through all the emotions together, share our thoughts and experiences, rejoice when our players score points, commiserate when they don’t, cry when they come off after 59 minutes and laugh when they concede in the last minute. Or something to that effect anyway.
GW1 sees us kick off with a Friday night game as the Champions of Europe host newly promoted Norwich at home. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Salah captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway.
Champions Man City then get the first Saturday of the season going as they visit West Ham in the early kick off at 12.30pm.
In perhaps a sign of things to come our 3pm games are not only few but are also littered with the already seemingly cast aside ‘less interesting’ teams. Apologies to Bournemouth & Sheffield United, Burnley & Southampton, Palace & Everton and Watford & Brighton but that’s how it seems.
Champions League runners up Spurs host newly promoted Villa at home in the late KO at 5.30pm. Doesn’t quite seem fair that does it, somehow? It’ll probably see plenty of Kane captainers get their first taste of the armband for the season anyway….
Leicester and Wolves begin (share) our first Sunday with an intriguing encounter at 2pm, while Newcastle fans will be protesting against Arsenal at the same time. Well ok, not protesting Arsenal, protesting Ashley, but you know what we mean…
A clash of the old titans sees GW1 out as Chelsea visit Old Trafford at 4pm.
The games in full…

I know I should have gone with Kane from the start.
:dash:
It’s one game, City away next, every other striker could bounce back and match his total.
He could also score another brace but…
Yeah true, gonna stick with my forwards
Just one of those weeks for the premiums midfielders and forwards. Everton + Bournemouth attack disappointingly managed very little, but great fixtures next week to follow up with.
Still on 83 with Perez and Jota left so can’t complain really
92 before bps and Perez left to play, happy with that start
Great score, might break 100 gw1 then :good:
Would be nice
I have Perez. If he gets me 8/9 points will be perfect
Superb Joanne.
Hoping Auba pulls something special out of the bag tomorrow.
Oh yeah, not ‘arf
Well done to those who have scored well, especially those who punted on the likes of McGinn, Brighton defenders etc.
Extra plaudits for punts on Brighton defence considering the Duffy TC saga last year…
Brighton’s CS today made me smile. Good for Ryan owners. Brighton not a bad side to keep an eye on, considering fixtures, but very early days. Terrific result for them. I thought Watford would tonk them.
Some big scores about Cookie.
Look at you with the Sterling captain trying to keep it quiet! What a move sir, bravo!
Can’t tell, his team isn’t linked.
Have you not sorted that yet? 😉
Have you not linked his team?
Yeah some massive scores out there. Find it hard to believe my 76 with two to go looks fairly average
Similar boat Smash. Almost feel disappointed with my score .
The overall average – I think – is <50, so that's a fine score Smash.
I'm always fairly content with surpassing whatever the average is and unless the bulk of the FF community has TC Jiminez tomorrow, and he scores a few, then all should be ok.
Think it’s because my usual league have all got extra help this year in picking their teams which is clearly the case when looking at their teams. Overall it’s probably ok
(In mine) I’m not sure how many have picked Origi as a tactical gamble and how many simply picked him just because they’re Liverpool supporters and he was cheap. Naturally I’m hoping a few snap him up this week – ideally getting rid of Kane to do so – but I doubt I’ll see that much naivety.
Not that I’ve looked too closely yet at other sides, but it was very obvious last night in the standings who’d gone for Origi.
I have 79 before today’s bonus points, I have Pérez, Zouma and Barkley left to play, can I get 100pts?
Very possibly, congrats!
Has been some huge GW1 scores for the last three years now, love it!
My GW’s 2 & 3 have always been less than desirable though, can’t say I’m looking forward to it crashing down next week…
Always the way because people bias towards a GW1 team, forgetting they still have that team come GW’s 2, 3, 4…..
Not saying it’s a bad approach but it invariably leads to an early WC.
Let’s hope so. Always a good laugh.
Loading up on Liverpool and City early has paid great dividends this and last year – and should, in theory, make the next GWs more bearable. Keeping an eye on the fixtures never hurts.
They’re both fixture proof these days.
A decent Liverpool and City axis and you can tweak the rest accordingly depending on fixtures and form.
That’s this year’s key take I think.
Yes – City’s weird dip in form last year messed things up for a few managers as you never imagine a losing run going on for too long – but in the main I think it’s a pretty sound way to set up. The rotation angst is always a pain with City but the likes of Sterling usually play.
Yeah could do with finding another good City asset for me instead of trying to squeeze Kane in
I was startled when I saw B Silva hadn’t started. I’ll have a think about David Silva after GW2.
Ederson is the easy way to do it (get three in), I suppose.
Yeah I was pretty surprised by that. Long term he will surely play. Might depend where though. Mahrez might become a great option and the same with KDB but need them to play the majority
Yes. Will be interesting to see the XI v Spurs next week.
Tomorrow’s games are almost of academic interest. I have a couple of players left but my main interest is in seeing how various teams – Man U and Chelsea in particular – get on.
Did Mahrez playing come out of nowhere? Thought Silva was a favorite
He did start towards the end of last season Mahrez so not sure it was out of nowhere.
